Richard did a fantastic job recently for the groundbreak of the new 62-bedroom free facility for parents of sick children in Oxford Children's Hospital on the John Radcliffe site. The new building is one of several at tertiary hospitals across the country supported and managed by the charity Ronald McDonald House Charities.He masterminded the best shots on the newly prepared ground with Wilmott Dixon's machinery and then ensured the best shots with football legend, Martin Keown and two-year old twins whose parents had spent four months in hospital following complications with one of the twins after their birth - and who had stayed at the small 17-bedroom Ronald McDonald House Oxford which is no longer able to take enough families..It was no easy job. Having seen Rich's impressive portfolio, I asked him to kindly take photos at my 50th birthday party (it was full on fancy dress with circa 70 people). He and his work were amazing. The photos were incredible. He didn't stage manage anything, he simply mingled with the party and took some wonderfully authentic photos of party people being party people and in their element, blissfully unaware of the camera. It was so special and he helped us have incredibly vivid permanent images of an amazing event with friends and family. I couldn't recommend Rich highly enough! To boot he is a top bloke. I was photographed by Richard for the press and then, over a number of sessions, he photographed my sculptures for my website. I am extremely pleased with the resulting images, and confident to approach galleries with them, and use them for publicity.Richard was very inventive and resourceful in making a difficult space work for the best possible photos. My sculptures aren't easy to photograph as they have both very dark and light (reflecting/shiny) surfaces. This however was not a problem for Richard as he used studio flash and backdrops with reflectors bouncing the light back into the shadows.Richard is highly skilled at his craft and the art of photography. He has a very good eye and ability to find the right angle and view. He is very flexible in dealing with unforeseen or difficult circumstances, as well as with people - always friendly, focused, calm, and a delight to collaborate with - I would highly recommend him for any photography. What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
Its about what you leave out, as much much as what you get in.
All great photographs have a point of interest, and in the use of light, focus and composition you highlight or draw the eye to this.
And hey presto... there's your masterpiece !
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
Lots of questions, lots of conversation, sometimes the client knows precisely what they want and sometimes we make a plan between us.
The more i'm told about the clients hopes and expectations the better i can come up with the goods and as long as we're communicating then the whole process can stay flexible.
What do you love most about your job?
Well i love photography and i love the fact that no two days are ever the same , new challenges,new people...whats not to love?
What inspired you to start your own business?
I enjoyed being a picture editor whilst still getting out and taking pictures, but being out with a camera every day is the best.
Why should our clients choose you?
I'm honest and fair and always put in 100% , I hope that my images speak for themselves .
My clients get high quality pictures and good value for money.
