What do you love most about your job?
Simply put, I love the variety. I love working with customers ideas and then making those ideas a reality. I love being creative and working out the best solution, which is not always the most obvious, to achieve what the customers desires. Of course if money were no object we could go crazy with our ideas but often money is the greatest challenge and so designing and building something that is within budget and still greatly satisfies the customers aspirations is very satisfying.
What inspired you to start your own business?
red earth is a company I established as a sole trader after working for local government for nearly 20 years. I worked in the Environment sector as a business manager for the parks and countryside service. I was very hands on designing engaging landscapes, natural play areas and also regenerating wilderness - woodland, grasslands, riverside areas, wetlands and heathland.
I worked closely with landowners, farmers, contractors and of course my staff. I left because I felt I needed a new challenge, having dealt with bureaucracy for 20 years I wanted the freedom to make my own decisions, structure my own work life and create a more balanced approach, well actually a more biased approach, to actually living rather than working.
Why should our clients choose you?
I'm a sole trader, which means I do not have large overheads, therefore my rates are very reasonable, which makes your money go further. I'm very flexible in my approach to work and not being a Monday to Friday 9 - 5 person means I can fit around your schedule.
Communication is king and I will discuss all aspects of your project with you to ensure we are both in agreement with the final concept, and through the project cycle you will understand how things are progressing and costs.
I'm upfront and will happily tell you if something is beyond my skill set from the outset. I do not wish to waste your time or mine, nor leave you with sub standard work.
