Rachel is a very knowledgeable woman, and her caring attitude teamed with her patience and skills make her a fantastic PT. Rach has been supporting me in increasing my fitness, self confidence and mental wellbeing for about 2 years. She’s had a huge impact on my approach to exercise and has made sure that even on my darkest days, I get out and get on with it!

I'm only a few weeks into my PT sessions with Rachel and I could not recommend her enough! She is friendly, motivating and pitches sessions exactly right, taking into account personal goals and aims. Her professional knowledge permeates and her sensitive coaching style makes for an incredibly personalised session. Having a fear of the Gym, I took the plunge and Joined Pure Gym, I asked about PT's, Rachel was recommended to me. We hit it off straight away, she is not only down to earth and friendly, she is very knowledgeable and encouraging, she has instilled confidence in me to tackle the gym on my own and shown me loads of training techniques so that I can enjoy sessions without getting bored, now I work hard with her and on my own. It was daunting to start. I was nervous and ashamed of how unfit and unhealthy I had let myself become. Everyone is welcoming and friendly. The only competition is with yourself - the workouts are such that you really can only concentrate on yourself and how you are doing. They can be stretching and difficult, especially in your first week, yet I come away each time feeling fantastic and energised (though sometimes the next morning I am a wee bit achy). You are pushed to achieve the best you can within your own capabilities and all exercises can be scaled so if you have injuries or difficulties with certain things, you don't miss out on getting a good workout. You notice your own improvements and it becomes kind of addictive. The trainers are awesome and friendly, but know how to push you when you need it and always encourage you to do your best. Other members are fun and very friendly, and everyone is extremely supportive of everyone. I love going and whilst my journey has been slower than others, I am proud of the improvements I am making and can't see myself ever going back to a 'normal' gym. Going for the first time was a really hard thing as I was so nervous but I am really pleased and proud to be a member now - I love it. More...

I love going to the classes because it's so friendly and supportive and I always leave wanting more. You start at your own level and work your way up as you get fitter. I always think if anyone looked in the window at 6.30am in Bishopthorpe they would think we were crazy... but I really enjoy it for lots of reasons:- it may be EARLY but there is a great sense of camaraderie and support that is really helpful. You want to do well for yourself but also want others to do well- I looked today and have lost about 11lbs and inches off all over - and importantly kept it off for at least 2 years. - The holistic approach and wider support works and you can take as much - or as little - from it as you need to depending where you are personally at any one time.- I went skiing last year for the first time in 10 years and (as well as still fitting my ski gear) I did the best skiing I have ever done: I was strong as well as fit. - The owner really cares about his clients and his business - and it shows. I was nervous about signing up at the start I didn't know anyone & wasn't sure what to expect. But the instructors Craig & Henry have been great. They are helpful & supportive but push you when you need to. They seem to know each individuals capabilities & can tailor the exercises if needed. I've been going 4 months 3 times a week & I've yet to have a duplicate session! That's brill because if you're not really feeling up for it you have no idea what it will be so its not like you know whats ahead! Those days that I've not felt like going but got myself there I have felt so much better for going! So far I have lost nearly 2 stone & many inches off my waist, bum & legs, I feel so much better about myself! I'm still a work in progress & would like to lose more but this works along with healthy eating I am both physically & psychologically in a better place than I was 4 months ago! Everyone is so friendly I have met lots of lovely people & we have such a laugh you leave sweaty & smiling what more can you ask for! More...

From the minute you walk in, you're welcomed, there's no cliques here! Everyone is supportive and friendly. Dependent on the individuals goal we set out a plan, Implementing a number of different styles from strength training, conditioning, compound movements (squat, bench, deadlift) weightlifting to endurance based tasks and core exercises, mobility and rehabilitation drills.

We work with our athletes as a team to ensure goals and targets are hit whilst they hold their own accountability. We track progression in performance as well as asethically (circumference measurements etc).

There is no secret! Work hard and reap the results! You are investing in yourself and your health and happiness. Train hard and make healthy choices (nutritionally, sleep, recovery, mindset). That’s all it takes!

Seeing not only individuals physical goals been met but seeing them progress as an individual. Seeing their true potential come through and confidence shine. It doesn’t feel like a Job when that happens!

Realising that sometimes training is more than just training. For me and a lot of people training is about therapy, it’s your time and your body. I was inspired to pass on my skill set into others so they could go on and inspire others to have a healthy lifestyle. The fitness industry is so saturated with fitness models and instagram booty models that performance and actually feeling good with your bodies capability and what it can do has gone out the window. I refuse to let that happen. Be confident and strong in your own mind, body and it’s capabilities...there’s more to life than what you look like....(rant over).
