Hi! I’m Rachel; Personal trainer and nutrition coach. My passion and experience lies in helping those who struggle with low self-esteem to develop and grow their confidence through exercise and an improved relationship with food.

Irrespective of bodyweight, size or shape, many people suffer from a lack of self-esteem which can cause them to withdraw in social situations or fail to meet their full potential at work; for others, it can lead to anxiety, depression or an eating disorder. Ultimately, low self-esteem denies people important and enjoyable life experiences, and that’s where I want to step in and make a difference.

The excellent news is that self-confidence can be acquired: The key lies in dedicating just a little bit of time to care for yourself. Physical exercise can be extremely beneficial as it provides a progressive, attainable goal. As you begin lifting heavier, running further and pushing your aspirations higher, the sense of pride and empowerment that will accompany your achievements can help rebuild self-efficacy. Learning how to nourish and fuel your body effectively and gaining control of any unhealthy eating habits can also help to reduce self-criticism and boost self-esteem and will play an essential part in supporting your fitness goals.

I provide tailored, results-driven fitness coaching to deliver the results you need. Your fitness programme will be designed specifically for you: We'll address everything from your exercise history, movement patterns and any underlying health issues or injuries, to your lifestyle, preferences, sleep patterns and stress, to ensure that you receive the most safe and effective training for your goals and have fun along the way.

I’m a great believer that exercise is only the half of it, and unless you’re eating right for your goals, you’re not going to get the best health results. With all personal training packages I also provide expert nutrition advice and support. This will cover everything from the basics of nutrition and healthy eating to addressing any unhelpful eating habits. There will be no fads, and definitely no dieting! My approach is to educate and coach you towards a better understanding of the nutrition your body requires, so that you can gain control of your eating and make the right food choices moving forwards.

I take a gentle, supportive approach to training . This isn't bootcamp - I’m here to provide that little bit of extra guidance and accountability you might be needing, and I want you to know that I care about your results just as much as you do.

I have been with Rachel for just over a month now and she's fantastic. Incredibly supportive and encouraging, while understanding too, but provides that push when it's needed to. She's easy to talk to and share with and creates a tailored programme to suit, taking things slowly and helping make lifestyle changes at a manageable rate. She really puts in the extra effort to help you reach your goal and visibly cares about you reaching it, a fantastic personal trainer and nutritionist and would highly recommend.

Rachel listened to exactly what I wanted to with the personal training sessions and planned things around that to allow me to have a strength focussed session. It was great to quickly learn a lot about where my weaknesses in strength are, and how to overcome these with the equipment I have available to me. Rachel is very encouraging and approachable, and really knows her stuff which allows her to tailor sessions to your needs.

I worked with Rachel for about three months before leaving Cambridge. She was absolutely fantastic! Really new what she was talking about and was very good at tailoring a programme that worked for me. She has a style that is a nice balance between pushing you hard but without making you feel like you're at boot camp. I highly recommend her.

Rachel Amies Q&A

How do you help your clients achieve their fitness goals?

> With good communication and empathy
I will help you achieve your goals with understanding, empathy and the ability to be adaptable, as well as a big smile and plenty of energy, of course! I take a gentle, supportive approach to training so that you feel at ease and happy to communicate openly with me. I think this is the key to success, as talking openly allows us to address any issues as soon as they arise so that I can set you back on track towards your goal as quickly as possible.
> With nutrition support
I firmly believe that exercise is only the half of it, and that unless you're eating right for your goals, you're going to struggle to achieve and maintain the results you're after. I provide expert nutrition advice and support, which will cover everything from the basics of nutrition and healthy eating to addressing any unhelpful eating habits.
> By having fun!
While my priority lies in making sure you conduct your exercise safely and effectively, I also want you to have fun and really enjoy your training, because at the end of the day, that's what's going to keep you motivated and ensure you reach your goals. I keep workouts fun, varied and in line with your preferences to make sure you enjoy your sessions and keep on coming back!

What’s the secret to getting the body of your dreams?

Self-love! Showing yourself a little bit of compassion means taking time to care for yourself. Caring through regular exercise and good nutrition will lead to a stronger, fitter, more happy and confident you. So whether your body now looks like that of a supermodel, a bodybuilder, an athlete or anything else, it doesn't matter, because you'll feel happy with what your body can do, rather than focusing too much on what it looks like.

What do you love most about your job?

The smile on your face when you perform an exercise that you never thought you'd be able to do. I love seeing you step out of your comfort zone, try something new and realise you can totally smash it!

What inspired you to start your own business?

Same as above! Time to step out of my comfort zone and see how far I can push myself.

Why should our clients choose you?

I'm empathetic, I will listen to you and I will go the extra mile. We won't do anything you don't enjoy, we'll do plenty of what you do enjoy. Your training programme will be designed purely with your needs and goals at the centre of it. Anything I don't know the answer to I'll be sure to do my best to find out for you.
