What do you love most about your job?
I love the variety that this job offers. One day I work at a corporate black tie dinner event with 350 people in attendance and the next I'm setting up an outdoor PA system for a funeral, followed by dropping off a couple of laptops at one of the hotels we service for a meeting the next day. No day is ever the same. I particularly enjoy the moment when everything comes together. A large conference or black tie dinner takes some time to organise but the feeling when the event itself starts and everything you have prepared and put into place comes together is great.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I have worked in the AV field and event support industry for many years. The job comes with long hours and during the conference season I spend more time at work than at home with my family so after the first financial crash the company I worked for has gone into receivership so I decided to set up on my own. It's hard work, very difficult at times but I wouldn't change it for anything.
Why should our clients choose you?
This is the bit where everyone says the same. I'm dedicated, the best, experienced etc... I am of course all that. I pride myself in always putting my clients needs and requirements first though so this means I never upsell! If my client doesn't need a particular item of equipment or if that item doesn't add something worthwhile I will not suggest it. That way my clients always know that they can trust my recommendations. Equally if I am faced with having to use someone else's equipment because it would save my client some money but the equipment isn't up to the job I refuse as I won't be part of something that will make my client or myself look unprofessional. I have lost some money because of this believe as I could have upsold on many occasions but this is not what I am about. I'm not in the business of making money for nothing. I am in the business of helping people.
