We stayed here from December 19th - December 22nd in a King Clio room. We loved the old charm of this hotel. The room was exceptionally clean and had everything we needed for our stay. We could have used a trash can in the bathroom, as others have said, but we just moved the one from the bedroom and it was fine. The Hot Tin bar was a very festive place with all the holiday party makers and we were slightly worried we'd hear a bunch of noise in the night as the guests came and went from the bar. We didn't hear any noise from our room other than the streetcar which wasn't loud. ||The staff were very friendly and did a great job. We interacted with Gowri at the front desk several times and she was always helpful and friendly. We also enjoyed the staff at the Bayou Bar, especially Betty who gave us several good tips.||We would defiantly consider staying at the Pontchartrain the next time we are in New Orleans! More...

I love historical hotels with character and this one was fabulous! Not only were the staff (Jerry and Justin) very welcoming, but the hotel itself was extremely charming. In addition it featured three cool bars, live music and an lovely restaurant. The only drawback was that the rooms windows were painted shut and the room smelled a bit musty, so fresh air was not feasible. Would gladly return again! More...

I'd really give this place a 4.5 due to a few quirks in the room such as no garbage can or fan in the bathroom and a very strong odor of cleanser after the room was serviced, but otherwise, this place was fabulous. We had a regular King room on the 11th floor, which was spacious and well decorated and had a view of the city, Unique, eclectic artwork and very quiet, but we stayed during the week. On a gorgeous Sunday afternoon both Jack Rose and the rooftop bar were completely mobbed, and I can imagine it is worse on the weekend. Anyway, things quieted down and we had no elevator disturbances like other reviewers mentioned.||||I would like to say that the staff at this hotel is excellent -- super nice, competent, efficient, especially the front desk woman with curly magenta-ish hair whose name I forget. Really, all of the workers were great, the restaurant staff, the bellhop, the valet. Keep those employees happy, Pontchartrain!||||It's a great location right next to the Garden District and walking distance from the Warehouse District. St. Charles streetcar is right in front. All in all, an excellent stay. More...

I loved staying at this hotel. Everyone there was super friendly. The staff at the front desk always knew my name. When I would pick up my room key they always knew my room number. Just shows me there is attention to detail. I loved that there was always someplace open to eat within the hotel. Everyone at all three places were also very nice. The rooms were very pretty and nicely kept and comfortable. I would definitely recommend this hotel. The only thing I would have liked to have was coffee in the room. More...

We had stayed one lovely night at the Ponchartrain Hotel when a medical emergency arose. Ashante graciously extended our booking at a favorable rate which allowed us to stay in the room and concentrate on more pressing matters. The front desk staff was especially considerate and the valet staff could not have been more helpful. After several days at UMC we were finally able to return home, emergency situation successfully dealt with. Many thanks to Ashante, Brittany, Trent, Ed and Burnell for making the circumstances of our extended stay as comfortable as possible by their care and support. I just love this place. The room decor reminds me of old photos of my grandparents' house taken in the 1940s. I adore the old fashioned yet not fussy ambiance. Love the pottery and collectibles in the hallways. I wish I could live there full time.||When I first saw the pictures online, I thought "that place is ME". It's even better in person.||||But none of it would work without the right people at the front desk. Jerry was so gracious and helpful when I checked out and then returned to check in 2 hours later. A true professional. ||Trent was always ready with a warm greeting when I'd approach the desk to reclaim my key. Everyone was so courteous and kind.||||The beds in rooms 511 and 513 were both extremely comfortable, the best I've slept on ANYWHERE. I have a picky back that doesn't like hard mattresses, and if I lay on my side, my hips and back will ache if the mattress is too firm. ||I usually use extra pillows for lower back support. There were plenty of pillows on the beds, and I only used the one under my head. Amazing!||||Room 511 was a bit cold initially due to the cold snap. I turned the room unit to 80 degrees to heat the room, then adjusted to 74. There was plenty of hot water.in both rooms.||||Both rooms had the same decor, except the bathrooms. 513 had a much larger wheelchair accessible bathroom. The roll-in shower had a sitting ledge. That bathroom had 1930s influenced colors, with pale green subway tile, black painted walls, and black tiled flooring. So elegant. More...

We recently traveled to Nola for a long weekend. We typically stay downtown in the French quarter, but decided to stay in the garden district. We heard that the Pontchartrain was classic New Orleans. Upon arrival, we received a very warm welcome from Jerry. He immediately made us feel at home and he provided us with some interesting history about the hotel. Our room was on the 11th floor. Our room was amazing. It had the old south feel and was very spacious. The location was great. It was a short walk to some amazing restaurants and magazine street. We really enjoyed the tin roof bar on top of the hotel. The bartenders were great. Kalie remembered our name and our drinks. It provided a nice view of the city. We enjoyed our stay at the Pontchartrain Hotel, it is a quaint boutique style hotel. The room was a little small but nice and the bed was comfortable. Although the decorating is there to capture the old world New Orleans charm I do feel some of the finishes could be better. You can keep the feel of the old building and charm without comprising some nicer finishes and amenities. I think it needs a little refresh. The rooftop bar was excellent, we enjoyed the view. Watch your bill, we were doubled charged for drinks and didn't catch it till later. They charged us and someone in our party all for the same drinks. We thought we paid and they thought they did........we all paid the same bill. The Bayou Bar downstairs had an amazing 3 piece jazz band that was exceptional! And the bar food was amazing, we hear that the restaurant Jack Rose cooked the food. Best bar food I've every eaten! It was a great experience. Everyone that works there is nice and helpful and helped to make our stay even better. We had a great time. More...

In the Garden District this hotel has had a lot of remodeling done so the rooms are very clean when you arrive and look lovely. We had a king Deluxe which is just a small room and a nice large bathroom no View. I asked for a quiet room and highly recommend number 715. The front desk help is professional and friendly and helpful. There is a nice breakfast place downstairs with reasonable coffee and for breakfast if you want to eat in the hotel. The prices are reasonable considering New Orleans. I did see a special on my last day for a smoked salmon on Bagel sandwich but I couldn't stop for lunch unfortunately. The only complaint I have is that our sheets were not changed in five days and the bathroom although wiped down and clean to the I had never had the floors swept or cleaned. They do have a pamphlet that tells you they only change the bed every 3 days but that did not happen. Other than that one misstep I highly recommend this hotel. You can jump on the trolley and go all the way to the north end or down to the French Quarter opposite direction. While we were there it did not go all the way and we had to transfer to a bus but it was free. They were doing construction and the Hard Rock Hotel had collapsed. It was still efficient and quite quick and a lot cheaper than Uber. More...

My brother, sister, and I plan to get together once or twice a year for a few days of fun. This year we chose New Orleans. We had a very enjoyable visit and manged to do all or the things on the list of things we wanted to do. The architecture of this hotel is beautiful! The staff was very pleasant, helpful, and efficient. Our room was very comfortable. There were only two things we felt were lacking during our stay. The first was that the hotel did not have a fitness room or spa services. Our room was clean, but worn........like a favorite sofa or chair would be at home. The location of the hotel is ideally situated. It is located between the Garden District and the French Quarter. There were some really great places to eat and things to do and see that were in walking distance. The trolley ran by right outside the front of the hotel making it easy to get around for those who prefer not to walk or rent a car. There was a cafe and bar located in the lobby......also a rooftop bar with live entertainment that appeared to be frequented by locals and tourists alike. One thing we really enjoyed was the hospitality of everyone we encountered associated with the hotel and while on our endeavors in the city. The people of New Orleans are loyal and proud of their city......rightfully so. More...
