Love our family photos taken by Shirley. She had a knack for bringing the little ones out of their shells and capturing every emotion.

From the moment my husband and I booked our family shoot, Shirley was in regular contact with us. Discussing plans for the day, making sure she catered for our whole family and checking we were happy with the arrangements. We are a complex family with four children with additional needs and a stubborn toddler, this wasn’t a problem for Shirley. She made sure she was well prepared by asking us about the children’s likes and dislikes and sharing with us her ideas so that we were able to let her know how the children would cope. We picked a beautiful location that our children are familiar with and Shirley went out of her way to visit before hand, to find the perfect spot for our shoot. Closer to the time of the shoot, Shirley sent over all of the information we needed for the day and as an overly organised person myself I was very impressed that every eventuality had been covered. Our photo shoot itself couldn’t have gone any better. Shirley made the experience enjoyable and fun for our whole family (even the 17 year old who is too cool to be seen out with us). We loved that there were no forced poses, the shoot was completely natural and relaxed, with the children having no idea that some of the pictures were being taken. We can’t wait to see our family photos and will definitely be booking Shirley again!! More...

Shirley's photos are somehow more than just photos; they capture a mood, or an aspect not noticed before. Very pleased with the lovely, atmospheric photo of Dunstable Priory Church, nicely backed and framed.

The following was posted on my website blog. "I recently purchased a print, from Shirley, called, 'The Tear'. A simply stunning piece of photography, which now adorns our lounge wall. I was impressed with the prompt service, and as I live local to the photographer, had it hand delivered that same day! I highly recommend this website." Thank you Alison More...

Q&As

Passion and vision. You have to see something you want to capture and have a vision of how the final image will look. Yes, of course knowledge and technical skills are important, however , without vision you will create technically perfect pictures with no soul, images that do not 'speak' to the viewer!

I learnt this many years ago when I was a guest at a wedding, of course I had my camera with me and I took a photograph at the start of the ceremony, one which the professional photographer had not captured. This image is the one the bride still has framed and means the most to her...why.. well certainly not because it was technically perfect, I was in an awkward position in appalling lighting conditions, however, the story behind the image evoked a response in the viewer and apparently still brings a tear to the brides eye, and many others who know the family.

Are there any particular concerns? I have had families with children who have autism and I have worked closely with the family to ensure the child is comfortable.
Are there any special relationships in your family you would like me to capture in an image.
What do you want to use your images for?
Do you and your family feel comfortable in front of the camera.

People, and capturing that special moment for them, it is such a privilege and something I never take for granted.

Images are prized by families, I see how my own family enjoys looking at photographs of previous generations and how much joy a photograph her great granddaughter brings to my own mother. I also love 'Capturing The Moment' there is something very special about creating a unique image. I love interacting with people and want to share my passion and create images which will become treasures and memories. Those special moments will not last for ever!

I will listen to you, I will care about you and your shoot and I will never forget that you had a choice!
The package I offer is very simple, you get all images in your gallery, you will never have to choose between two images you love. This means you know how much the shoot will cost you, of course you can purchase 'add ons', have your images printed, presented in a beautiful box or a book if you wish, but there is no hard sell or expectation.
