I got a call from this clinic today to say my Dad had walked in & was confused & lost. I was in London & it took me over 1/2 hour for me to get there they said no problem made him some tea & biscuits & said & chatted to him. I offer to pay but they refused. From reading the website & review I will definitely book a sports massage soon best wishes to all the girls. More...

Caroline and her team are the best osteopaths I have encountered in 2 decades. I have suffered from constant headaches for years due to a temporomandibular joint problem. I have tried everything from Botox to dental appliances and even had Surgery on my jaw joint. I have nearly 20 years experience visiting different ostepaths and while the treatment helped things never seemed to advance much. I discovered Caroline and her team about a year ago. Their approach is specific to the patient, not the One size fits all approach that so many medical practicioners have. Together they and I have explored the connection my neck has to my condition which has led to a massive improvement in my symptoms. I would recommend them to anyone, and can't thank them enough. My GP had told it was my arthritis in my neck and there was nothing to be done, just be careful. I had been to the clinic in the passed and my husband suggested that I made appointment. After the first visit I could lay flater and by the third visit I am sleeping on my right side. I'm no longer dizzy when looking up down or sideways laying down relaxing. I, and my family, have used ThePenn Clinic intermittently since 1992. I value enormously Caroline's treatment and her vast experience. I have always found the treatment helpful and the suggestions offered for exercises, etc at home most beneficial. Above all, I value the time Caroline is able to spend with me explaining things and that her treatments do not rely on medication or surgery - as is usually the case with GPs. More...

What can I say? Caroline has treated my 5yr old son. I had never heard of handle therapy and I have to admit I was apprehensive. My son had a tic disorder and anxiety that was overwhelming all the family.
He has gone from as i can only describe as a 'sad' child to one that is beginning to enjoy childhood again. The tics are much less frequent, he is able to cope with daily life. He was unable to go to school without two teachers literally ripping him off me each day, to (I can't believe I'm writing this) going in on his own!! His teachers are gobsmacked, I still can't believe it, but he's doing it on his own, with a smile. He's becoming a confident little boy, and we're slowly meeting all the goals Caroline and my son set together. This is all on my son's terms, and he has complete trust in Caroline. For anyone unsure whether this is right for you. I had a child who literally froze at every situation, we willed him to join in and have fun, but anxiety took over, his tics took control. I have never seen my son smile so much, an absolute joy to see. I cannot recommend Caroline enough, I wish more people knew about handle for children with tic disorders and anxiety in general.

I found this clinic online advertising the use of The Handle therapy, this was my nearest clinic using this method. I brought my son here as he was struggling at school and i was frustrated with the lack of funding in schools for my sons needs, since attending the clinic my son is achieving well at school & social progressing, the work caroline has done in educating us to help our son has given him a platform in which to grow from strenghth to strength. As a family we have also started to use the clinic for back problems and found the clinic to have a wealth of knowledge across the board, the clinic has worked outside of its own practice with my doctor and has referred me to outside agencys when there own field of expertise has reached its limits. I would highly recommend this practice to anyone looking for a professional caring enviroment with a range of health problems. More...

I first visited the Penn Clinic over 20 years ago. I had been on operated for a partial lumbar discectomy on my L5 disc and still had remaining sciatic pain and lower back pain which caused me to limp. I lived in Leeds and had been discharged from the surgeon at the hospital with no follow-up treatment despite my still painful condition. My GP referred me for physiotherapy which had no effect and then The Penn Clinic was recommended to me via an osteopath I had 1 appointment with in Leeds before I moved down South. I was in complete despair and pain at my first appointment with Caroline and had pretty much lost hope of recovery. The Clinic's holistic approach enabled me to slowly begin to recover. As well as the treatment I received along with exercises I was given, I no longer limp, I can exercise at the gym and the treatment was overall a life saver, both physically and mentally. Following a car crash a number of years later, I again needed some intensive treatment and the clinic supported my recovery. Caroline has a network of excellent practitioners that I have been able to access to support my health needs over the years.Additionally, my son, as a toddler had "glue ear" and my GP refused to refer me to the Penn Clinic and instead referred me to an ear, nose and throat Consultant who confirmed that his hearing was impacted and needed treatment. The Consultant was happy to refer me to the Penn Clinic and after 4 treatments Joe's condition was resolved avoiding the need for the invasive grommets procedure. My elder son also received treatment following whiplash from being punched in the face. Again, he recovered well due to the osteopathic treatment received.I cannot recommend the Penn Clinic and osteopathy enough for a range of conditions and fully support all the treatment offered by the Penn Clinic. I was seriously injured in accident when I was 17; multiple fractures of my back (L4 and L5), patella, femur and tibia. The best orthopaedic surgeons in the land at the time informed me I would be in a wheel chair before I was 30. Nearly 40 years later I play golf, cricket, squash and football, all thanks to the care and maintenance provided by Osteopathy, primarily through The Penn Clinic and a recent knee replacement (TKR). Without Osteopathy, literally, I would be bed bound. Conventional orthopaedic healthcare has helped in terms of the TKR, but in all other matters they have been unable to keep me mobile, I regularly see highly qualified Orthopaedic consultants and they advise me to keep the Osteopathy up as they could not help without major and high risk back surgery. Countless hours of my life has been spent at Physiotherapy sessions which did not deliver pain relief and provided no mobility improvement, because the infrastructure of my body was broken. It wasn't until I stumbled across Osteopathy that my life became a real again and worth living. Thank you to Caroline and her team, and all the other Osteopaths who have made my life liveable over the years. And a huge raspberry to all the pharma sponsored lunatics out there (cf. GTS) who spend their easily earned cash trying to strengthen the pharma grip on our healthcare spending through lies and bullying tactics, you should be ashamed of yourselves, your mothers would not be proud of you, but then you are only motivated by money so I suspect shame is not something you understand. Caroline Penn is the very reason that I can get out of bed by sitting upright without first turning on my side. Let me tell you a summary of my story: I had a fall and injured my pelvis when I was 11. For the next 20 years or so I had what I would consider to be a sporadic ‘dull’ discomfort in the pelvis area. When I was around 30, I went on a skiing holiday and to cut a long story short, I aggravated the original injury to such a degree that throughout my 30s the only way I could get out of bed each morning was by turning on my side first i.e. I couldn’t sit upright after lying down. I went to several different chiropractors – all of whom, no doubt, did a fine job of maintaining my back from getting worse. I also changed my car to drive an automatic (as it was the left side of my pelvis that was injured and using the clutch aggravated it) and I got orthotics for my shoes. In my early 40s I was just about to have an insole built for one of my shoes (as a result of the problem caused by my pelvis injury), when a chance meeting between my podiatrist and Caroline led to my podiatrist suggesting that I try just “one more person” before she did the insole – and that person was Caroline. It took one session with Caroline to change my life: one session with her and I could feel a difference as I drove away from the clinic and since that one treatment, I have been able to get out of bed by sitting upright, without first having to turn on my side – and that each morning. Since then, I go to Caroline to maintain my back – maybe just once every three months – sometimes more frequent, sometimes less. I also go to some of the other osteopaths at the clinic – they all work really well together as a team – it’s an approach that works very effectively in the interest of patients and it is a great shame that everyone doesn't have access to the same level of care and treatment on the NHS (it would, no doubt, be more cost effective for not only the NHS but for the country at large in the long term). More recently, a couple of years ago, I developed a ‘frozen shoulder’ (adhesive capsulitis). I couldn’t raise my own arm up 90 degrees to my body, which meant I couldn’t put my own bra on or dress myself properly. Caroline and the rest of the osteopaths at the clinic were the first people I turned to. The frozen shoulder improved to a point that it is probably better than it was before I developed the frozen shoulder. And what is notable is the speed with which it improved. Then a few months ago I had a wrist injury – I believe it was a tendon injury – and of course, there was no question that I would go anywhere but to Caroline first and between Caroline and some of the other osteopaths at the clinic, my wrist injury healed completely very quickly. There is no question that Caroline Penn is a leading light in her field and she, together with the rest of the osteopaths at the clinic, is/are the very first person/people I would turn to for advice and treatment with any injuries.
