Why should our clients choose you?
At Parish we're passionate about trees and about doing an incredible job. We aren't satisfied until our customers are so you'll be left with exactly the outcome you hoped for! Perfectionists sound like a negative but in this case we just want to be known as the best in the business.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
Face masks, social distancing measures, lots of hand sanitiser and more caution.
Stump Grinding
After a tree has been felled or dismantled, the stump is usually a small remaining portion of the trunk with the roots still in the ground. For smaller trees, this can often be removed with a winch, but for most larger trees a stump grinder will be required to grind away the remaining stump down to below ground level.
We will fully remove stumps, using the most appropriate method, and will also remove any debris and fill in the hole, leaving a flat surface.
Our dedicated team can remove any stump, no matter how small or large, and can choose from a range of suitable machinery to deal with the specific challenges of any given job.
Tree Surveys
We at Parish are experienced arboriculturists with an excellent knowledge of tree surveying and hazard assessment, and are familiar with all the relevant legislation and regulations.
Most tree surveys are requested by developers or private estates, where trees may impede a development area, occupy space adjacent to other properties, or endanger a listed building. A tree survey will gather objective information on a number of trees. The focus may be site constraints for development, site enhancement or straightforward safety in relation to The Occupiers Liability Act 1957 & 1984.
The main factors considered in a tree survey will be:
• Tree dimensions: Height, stem width, number of stems, crown spread and crown height.
• Tree condition, both physiological and structural.
• Age class
• Preliminary recommendations
• Retention classification as per BS 5837
• Root Protection Area (RPA)
• Category grading as per BS 5837
• Root Protection Area (RPA m²)
Crown thinning
The crown of a tree is the branches and leaves extending from the trunk or main stems.
Crown thinning involves removing some branches from the tree in order to let in more light. Up to 30% of the branches may be removed, and we concentrate on removing dead branches or congested shoots first.
Crown cleaning and deadwooding
Deadwooding is the removal of dead, dying or diseased branches from the crown. It improves the appearance of the tree and dramatically reduces the danger of falling limbs.
A full crown clean will involve the removal of dead wood, and also any other unwanted objects such as climbing plants, fungal fruit bodies, or man-made objects such as nails, rope swings or wind-blown debris.
Crown reducing
A crown reduction will reduce the height and/or the breadth of a tree while retaining the framework and shape of the crown.
A more advanced form of reduction is called "drop crotching", which involves pruning branches back to a lateral branch which is at least 1/3 of the diameter of the removed branch.
Target pruning
Target pruning is the removal of material that is no longer contributing to the tree’s health, like crossing or rubbing branches.
Crown raising
Crown raising is the removal of the lower branches of a tree, to leave a certain amount of clearance between the ground and the lowest branches.
Tree planting and transplanting
We offer a range of planting services, and can offer clients expert advice on what species to plant on any given site.
Tree transplanting - moving a tree to a new site - can be a complicated process, but our team have the skills and experience to deal with this tricky job, and to advise you on the potential risks.
Pollarding
Pollarding is a pruning system that aims to keep a tree to a manageable size, smaller than it would naturally grow. The upper branches of a tree are removed, promoting a dense head of foliage and branches, primarily to maintain trees at a predetermined height.
Tree felling/dismantling
Tree felling is exactly what it sounds like. In some cases, a large or very complex tree may need to be taken down in sections, by climbing the tree, cutting branches and lowering them by rope. Dismantling is most often done when trees are dead, dangerous, storm damaged, or overhanging buildings, or on sites that have difficult access and/or confined space.
Hedge cutting
Cutting back hedges is essential to keep them looking neat and tidy.
