I LOVE this restaurant!  I really appreciate that the server asked about food allergies; this earned huge bonus points!  We had the turkey BLT, crispy potatoes, pistachio pasta, and the julep and lemonade cocktails. We stopped in after visiting the Broad.We weren't here long,  but here are a few tidbits of info.The hostesses and server were polite and accommodating. We had a quick drink in their upper room. Truffle butter and naan is yummy.  Wish we got more naan though... too expensive for $9  and just one piece. Their drink list is creative and fun. They use legit ice cubes.They have nice Christmas decor... the tree and the wreaths! So nice!Very pretty restaurant as you approach,  enter and dine. They have an outdoor fireplace too. More...

After having Otium bookmarked for a few years and based on my friend's recent good experience there we chose to go to Otium for my birthday dinner with my husband this year. It was a rainy night and we were late to our reservation so I called to inform them that we'll be late. Because of the weather we decided to valet our car but the valet guy did not bother to leave his stand to get our car! We had to park the car in front of their stand, go to them (which was not a close distance) and get the ticket. Not sure what we pay the $10 for!The host was welcoming, greeted us nicely and guides us to our table. The restaurant is very modern and chic, both from outside and inside. They have a very cool and entertaining cocktails menu, a whole page is dedicated to each drink with funny/unique names and a short story on the naming. At the beginning of this menu there is a chart that shows where each cocktail stands as far as booziness, richness, etc. which I found helpful. They also have a huge selection of wines which we decided to pass this time.Since most of the menu items are meant to be shared we decided to order 4 dishes and then a dessert at the end. Here is what we got:Drinks: - Negroni: A well-made Negroni, not too strong not too watery- A variation of Whiskey Sour: Which had bruleed meringue at the top and lots of Nutmeg. It was good drink for cold weather but a bit sweet. At the end I felt I need to wash it down with another strong drink, LOLFood:- Naan with Truffle Butter: The Truffle butter had generous amount of truffle. The Naan looked like were pan fried and was so tasty. I wish it was cooked more evenly. I would preferred it was well-done all around.- Rigatoni: This pasta dish has basil, pistachio, cherry tomatoes and Creme Fraiche had the richness from Creme and pistachio and the freshness from basil and it was perfectly balanced with some hint of spiciness. I'd reorder it in an heartbeat.- Octopus: We usually order Octopus in very specific places because it is very easy to mess with it and end up having a chewy and rubbery dish. But the one we had here was made to perfection. So soft and tender and I have to say the star of the dish was the Tom Kha, the lemon-grass and coconut cream was such a great combo with Octopus. - Dry Aged Duck Breast: Perfectly crispy skin with soft and well cooked meat. The Guinness Chocolate sauce was a nice complement to the dish.Dessert: - Honey Apple Tart: Very unique and tasty. I think the portion size was perfect especially after having some of the heavy dishes this was a great end to our meal. - Macchiato and Single Shot Espresso: Nothing special but not bad coffee at all. We liked them.The problem I had with the dessert menu was that it was hard to imagine how each item would look like. For example our dessert was way different from any "Tart" I had before.Service: Our waitress, who never introduced herself, did not seem to be in her best mood or maybe she did not like to serve us. She was in rush most of the time and overall did not seem to fit the restaurant's professional level. We asked if we could have a candle on our dessert and she said sure but our dessert came without candle but we did not say anything. When we asked her to take a photo she noticed and although we had not touched our dessert yet she just said sorry and did not offer to bring a candle which sounded weird. Overall we liked the vibe of this restaurant, it was not overly packed and not overly loud. Just enough liveliness with good quality and well executed food. Generally pretty good food. I can critique some of the dishes but I think it generally comes down to preferences. That being said I felt the food was good but most werent mind blowing hence the 4 stars. Favorite dishes were the Chestnut agnolotti, naan with truffle butter, and pigs tail.Least favorite was the duck. We also didn't love the chocolate bar dessert. Cocktails were interesting but didn't quite hit the spot in terms of taste. I still suggest getting some just to try.Unfortunately they no longer have the funnel cake due to no longer being able to serve foie grasOverall a solid finer dining option that's pricey but won't break the bank. I wouldn't be opposed to coming back but it wouldn't be for awhile. More...

Right after some shopping cant go wrong with a burger. Ive visited this location several times at different times and even though Otium always a long line the staff here is always fast and friendly. This place always has someone on the floor cleaning up an Otium always a plus. The burgers are always great and cant forget about happy hour. You buy a beer and get free fries (screaming of joy). I also tried their ice cream and fell in love with how good the chocolate milkshake was. The only thing i don't "love" is the ketchup. It taste a lil too thick. Lovely restaurant with superb service. The food was overall pretty good, except for one particular dish. Also, they were out of their famous black cod when we came for dinner on Sunday:( Chicken liver mousse: according to my boyfriend (who is a chicken liver mousse aficionado), this was hands down the best he's ever had. There's no "metal" taste at all and the truffle butter that comes with it complements it really well. The fluffy naan bread was really delicious too. So hot, crunchy on the outside and super fluffy on the inside. 5/5Hamachi: really sad portion size (only 3 slices?!) for $24.. it tasted good, but disappointing regarding how much we got. 3/5Beef tartare: really disappointing. We don't recommend getting this at all. There's way too much walnut shavings and hardly any beef at all. The little dalops of yogurt were a nice touch, but oh my god, the walnut to beef ratio... 1/5Spinach Bucatini: delicious! Noodles were cooked to perfection. Only critique is that there was a bit too much sauce 4.5/5Pork chop: juicy, but a bit too salty. It was overall okay. I wish we could've gotten the cod instead. 3/5Overall it was a good experience, mainly because of the chicken liver mousse and cocktails-- they have a very fun cocktail menu (all the drinks are from movies made in LA)-- I recommend trying some of them out! we'll be back, but will avoid getting the disappointing dishes that I mentioned. Delicious food with amazing ambiance right next to the broad museum!nice cocktail and wine list.  octopus was deliciously tender and melts in your mouth. the coconut sauce wasn't too overpowering and the peasprouts gave it a healthy taste.chestnut agnolotti was full of truffle and chestnut flavor.  love how it looks like little candy wrappers.berkshire porkchop tasted like a little thanksgiving present with cranberry and stuffing.  it was moist and tender.dessert was ok. we got the apple tart, which looked like a deconstructed apple tart.  very few apple slices but flavors were throughout.love the ambiance and decor. will definitely come back. they have a cute little fireplace outside and have outdoor seatings certain time. I've seen Otium when I was actually going to The Broad and my friend decided to have her birthday dinner here. It is located in Downtown Los Angles and the place from the outside looks really pretty and modern. The inside was really busy and I mean it was packed with patrons at the bar and sitting at tables. On a pretty chilly night I was surprised at how many people were in this restaurant. It was my first time here but the birthday girl has been here plenty of times for dinners and said this place is one of her favorites. Since our party wasn't all here we decided to wait for everyone and chill at the bar and grab a few drinks before heading to the main event. When you do sit down with your group the servers would recommend that everything be shared family style. I think this is a better way of eating so you can try more plates and different dishes! We had ordered different pasta dishes, some fish, octopus, chicken, salad, naan, and even duck! It was overall a very tasty experience and each person got to have a few bites of each item. If you have a large group the servers of course will suggest you to double up on certain items and things, so if you are unsure let them know. But the Sevice was fast and our food items kept on coming Soo it was overall a fun birthday!! It was a fun experience and also glad I got to enjoy some tasty and delicious goodness. Checked out Otium before the philharmonic on a Saturday night.  We sat out on the patio, it was a chilly night but they had heaters out there and it was almost too warm. We started with the naan with truffle butter and duck mouse.  The naan was delicious with the truffle butter and my husband realky liked the duck mouse. We also got the octopus, delicious, tender, with unique flavor combos, so good.  Next we tried the bucatini, also delicious..  Pasta done just tight, delicious flavorful sauce. Next came the duck breast, our favorite dish of the night. The skin was crispy with great flavor.  Loved the Guinness sauce it came with. We also tried the black cod, really good flavor combos, cooked just right and the cauliflower (just okay). Overall, an almost perfect meal. Their space is pretty cool, with the open kitchen and sushi bar easily visable. It's always cool to see the kitchen at work. Let's start with the bad, the dry aged duck breast was frankly terrible. Was very disappointed with this dish and how bad it tasted. And the sent too, just not appetizing at all. That was the only downside of the meal.The burrata toast, amazing! The naan with truffle butter? Even more amazing! The Ora King Tyee Salmon Nigiri was beautifully flavorful and delicate. Also had the black cod and duck confit pot pie, both very unique and wonderful. Had the Chocolate Brown Butter bar for dessert, which was good, but not overly unique. Overall a great meal! Arrived with no reservations for brunch and was seated an hour later. Worth the wait. Order five items and was pleased with the creative preparation and flavors of each. Only the biscuit with jam didn’t measure up. Too dense. Can’t say enough good about the polenta pancake that came with the fried chicken. An unlikely star of the meal. We went here for our 20th anniversary and it was spectacular. The best chicken I have ever eaten, and that is saying something! The wine choices were excellent and the food was all served at correct times and temps. It was noisy and crowded as expected for a weekend night.  And then our food came... wow!  My group decided to eat family style. Each dish was so delish that I kept thinking  it was the best, until the next dish, and the next dish, and the next!  Everything I had was amazing...Ora King salmon nigiri, cauliflower, rigatoni, grilled fish, steak chimmichuri, pear sorbet. We came for our 37th Anniversary and were treated with very special care. The food was fabulous, The service was fabulous, and the whole experience is on the top ten list for eating out. Like so many others we became aware of chef Hollingsworth from Netflix Final Table.  So we decided to check it out for my wife's birthday.  Made reservations on a Saturday night  and place was pretty full.  We were sat almost immediately.   I'll do the food first. Ordered drinks pretty limited on their craft cocktails... I ordered a penicillin(which was good) my wife got the Casino Royale(which was sent back was not good at all).  Had the nasn bread and added the lardo whipped butter and caviar.  This was great! Next the octopus which was also very good, tender and the broth was delicious .....though one piece was chard so much it was inedible.  The famous cod dish followed and did not disappoint... a must get. Then came the dry aged duck which I was excited about but disappointed in. Was slightly overcooked and the sauce( chocolate mole'ish) just didn't pair well with the dish.  We still had room so we got 2 desserts a chocolate mousse dish(which was just ok) and a white chocolate pie( pretty good).  Service.... was kinda blah.  Initial greeting was nice but after that pretty lackluster. Our sever didn't say a word when we sent our drink back? Also never asked if we were done with things before she cleared them.... which included my drink which had another sip or two left and our lardo butter which we payed $12 for.  So over all was a little disappointed and would probably give it  3 1/2 stars. My wife and I have wanted to go here since we watched The Final Table where Otium's Tim Hollingsworth showed that his rightful place is among the greats. We thought we might never have a chance to go since it was thousands of miles away, so we could not believe when before our Thanksgiving trip to LA her uncle nonchalantly said 'oh, yeah, I live next door to Otium, I think Tim lives in my building actually.' The seasonal cocktails were clever and complex. My truffled gnocchi was the best I've ever had, like soft pillows of potato pasta, rich with flavor and properly portioned to match. Of course my wife ordered the famous and winning black cod, which was so delicately cooked, it all but melted in our mouths. The roast chicken with shishito peppers, crispy potatoes and crisp, spicy green sauce delivered extraordinarily. We only wish we could go back all the time. Wifey and I visited for our 5th anniversary and we were absolutely delighted.SERVICE: 4/5 - Our server was okay. We scored him a 3/5. Somewhat too casual for how good the restaurant was even-though thats part of the w/resturaunt style. There was just a disconnect with him that was a bit hard to explain. The other attendants went above and beyond. One specifically came to speak with us when our waiter was busy & complimented my wife's baby bump & congratulated us on our anniversary. She personalized her service and noticeably went out of her way to get to know us what we were celebrating. Another one blessed us with an extra order of Naan bread.ATMOSPHERE 5/5 - Otium is in a homage to LA. For many outsiders, LA can be a confusing place. Its spread out from the beach-valley- mountains. The county is 88 separate cities that provide their own unique style - Otium captures that well.The open-concept kitchen spills out to the dining area complimented by a swanky night-life style bar and a cozy fire-warmed lounge area that blends modern and rustic. "California room" is the style that comes to mind for me.We sat right near kitchen and I had a front view of the bakery chef doing her art w/Chef (Tim) in the foreground. Despite the fame, Tim keeps his Texas humility. He made it a point to stop & talk w/diners, took photos w/admirers in the kitchen and shook hands.The kitchen is well orchestrated. Its a small picture of the makeup LA with cooks from every major ethnic background. Everyone seemed focused and happy. Well trained but not stressed out. There likely isnt a bad seat in the house. You are either by the action of the kitchen, near large windows or set back yet still close enough to watch the fire rise from the dynamic steel oven made to handle enormous pieces of steaks. You felt like a rock star but no matter who you were everyone was treated the same.If I had to pick a clothing style that described the vibe of Otium, it would be: Beach bum T-shirt, high end black or navy sports coat, banana republic brown shorts, and Rainbow sandals or loafers with a humble (non-frat boy) attitude.FOOD 5/5 - incredible.Started off with the fresh baked Naan bread. We added Chicken Liver Mousse which first terrified my wife (who is less adventurous than myself). Its a deep romantic, rustic and creamy taste that was unique & delicious. We had way more mousse than bread (hence came the request for more naan that was fulfilled - for free - much to our delight).I had the NY Strip that came with spinach. All steaks are cooked medium rare. Snake River Farms supplied the meat. It was topped with Bone marrow Vinaigrette that made it even more mouth watering than it needed to be (I'm drooling as I write this). The steak was a Goldilocks size. Slow down and savor each piece and you'll be full enough. I cut each piece down to smaller bites to appreciating the incredibly bold flavor highlighted by salt fromThe spinach. Wifey doesn't care for medium rare steak but her face lit up when it melted away in her mouth. One of the best steaks I have had hands down.Drink 5/5 - I am not much of a drinker but their cocktail choices were delectable sounding & the photos of each drink were beautiful. Their wine list extensive - fitting for the former Napa Valley Chef.Cons: Our reservation was delayed 15min. This restaurant is absolutely beautiful. Valet is $10 for the first two hours and $15 after. We ordered the Bloody Mary which had the perfect amount of spice. We also got a bottle of Prosecco with some fresh juices to make our own mimosas. We had orange, pineapple and grapefruit juice; I only tried the pineapple juice which was so good and fresh. For food we got the biscuits and jam, truffle gnocchi, grilled cheese and tomato soup, and lemon tart. The truffle gnocchi was absolutely sensational and I loved the biscuits and jam. Otium is a lovely restaurant with beautiful decor and nice service. We asked for a quiet table and they were attentive to our request. There does seem to be some coordination issues between the bar and servers. We were already getting food before I received my cocktail, which we had to ask for 2 times. Again, at the end of the meal, my coffee was served 5 minutes before my husband’s amaro came. The caesar salad would have benefitted with more faith in the taste of the little gem lettuce, but rather had too much cheese and was over dressed. Wooooow this place is absolutely amazing!!! The ambiance is definitely one unmatched. We had a reservation and sat outside under the heated lamps. To start we had the naan with truffle butter! I was amazinggggg. The portions are shareable for the entrees so I highly suggest getting a few to share. I had the chicken with potatoes and the pork chop. Both were cooked to perfection. Located near the Broad in downtown LA is this modern, rustic restaurant. Super cute place to have a date or meet with a group of friends for dinner.  The dishes are a variety of sizes, but mostly on the smaller side so they recommend family style here.  We tried a variety of dishes (about 11) and most were tasty. The pasta dishes really stood out.  I have a personal preference for truffle so I loved the naan served with chicken liver and truffle butter. My favorite dish of the night was the black truffle gnocchi!  How they managed to make those pieces so soft and delightful...I don't know.. it's a mystery. Lol!  I also liked the scallops. If you're going as a couple you might need a few dishes to feel full but if you go as a group you can try a lot more things!  The octopus dish was good too.  There was a cooked fish dish I wasn't a fan of.  Other than that everything was good. Made a reservation on the same day on a Friday night - definitely lucky nobody's from LA and the city's a ghost town during the holidays. Awhile back I had a reservation for Otium I missed, so happy to return years later to finally visit. Next to the Broad, it can sometimes be a nightmare to get picked up or dropped off here since everyone gets confused with the streets around here.The restaurant is gorgeous. Patio is beautiful, the interior with the clear glass windows, gorgeous bar, and open kitchen. Has that whole exposed metal elements that most of these modern restaurants in DTLA have.Service was great! Our waiter tried to warn us that we ordered too much food, little does he know this small group of 3 can eat a lot.What we ordered-the works - this I could have lived without. I really liked the salmon roe the most and would maybe order that againeverything from the raw bar - delicious! light, refreshing, creative. All the raw bar dishes were great. beef tartare - really interesting take on this with the walnuts, in a bad way, ha. would not order againgnocchi - I'm a sucker for good gnocchi. Otium is a beautiful spot right next to the Broad on Grand. It has an upscale ambiance with prices to match. The cocktails are well made but are what I consider "Downtown LA" prices. The food is excellent but they tend to be on the smaller serving size. A couple of my favorites includes the Hamachi, Octopus and the Black Cod. For a nice night out, Otium should fit the bill. Fantastic food, delicious cocktails, A+ service. From the moment you walk into Otium the staff is friendly, accommodating, and kind. We had a reservation and had to wait a few minutes but everyone was kind and we had cocktails in our hands in a few minutes, so we didn't mind. We were seated on the outdoor patio and our waiter explained the menu and made suggestions without us having to ask. We ordered the naan, octopus, agnolotti, penne, and a dessert. We shared it all and it was all great. The standout dish was certainly the octopus - we both agreed we had never had anything like this. Love me so Otium. This place is right next to the broad and the food here is consistently good. I always get the rigatoni, it's such a good vegetarian dish. I also got the truffle gnocchi and the crispy potatoes.Everything here is just so solid. The rigatoni is so well done and I think it's my "ideal" rigatoni. The thickness is perfect and the pesto has such a fresh and clean flavor. The gnocchi was good, but the addition of truffle didn't really add that much, other than to the cost of the dish. Potatoes are also surprising: smashed and cooked with herbs and spices that gave it a really nice kick.Standouts on the menu that I've had are the chicken, the shrimp appetizer, and the rigatoni. The drinks menu here is also pretty extensive, and I really like the cocktails here as well. Worth it? Yes! My go to lunch spot in the heart of downtown, right next to the Broad. Came here for a group business dinner and loved everything about Otium. From the location to the ambience, from the food quality to the delicious taste and our server was excellent at keeping track of everyone's orders for such a large group. The only thing I found odd was the large group reservations. I was the one that made the reservation a week in advance and they had to hold my credit card for the reservation. They did tell me that they would charge 25 dollars per person, for no shows so I had to make sure everyone showed up. Guess they have to do this since they are one of the hottest restaurants in LA. I was extremely pleased with my dinner here. Had dinner with a group of 6 and had a few different dishes. The fresh naan bread was great except we got truffle butter and I do not like truffles which was used in a few dishes we ordered. But everyone else likes truffles. The cauliflower dish was really tasty we ordered a second order. We ordered the gnocchi which again had truffle. Everyone but me loved it. I can say I did try the gnocchi which was super light and fluffy, and perfectly cooked and I can see why everyone like it so much. We also got the pesto rigatoni was a solid pesto dish, very good. The two best dishes were the octopus which was fantastic, cooked perfect in a Thai soup type base that was exceptional. I am not a big octopus person but this was great.And we ordered a dry aged wagu short rib dish which was served over some special rice with chimchuri  sauce and crispy shallots on the side, it was a great dish. A little on the pricey side, but the dish was amazing.The portions here are on the smaller size and the food is not cheap, so I see why some people's reviews note the size of the dishes. Amazing experience with an amazing staff and a non pretentious and welcoming overall vibe. Sarah our server was awesome and helped explain everything to us easily and was super friendly and on top of everything. Food was delicious especially the homemade chicken liver mousse and the nights special. The only thing was I wished the rice in the special had a chance to crisp up in the clay pot but still overall was an amazing dining experience. I see why my sister comes here so often. Ate here for the first time at a group luncheon. So much to like about this place! The location is great right by the Music Center and right next to the Broad. Service was also really prompt and the food came out quickly. But the best thing was the food! We started with Ceasar Salads and the Crispy Potatoes--I could have had bowlfuls of just the potatoes alone. For our main course, we had the Rainbow Trout and Hanger Steak. The steak was tender and the trout so flavorful without feeling overly fishy. The best though was the large pasta in a green cream sauce. So many great flavors came through. Valet parking is available. It's not a cheap meal but definitely one of the more flavorful ones I've had and rarely have I attended a lunch meeting where the food was so consistently good! More...

Pricy, but amazing. I recommend going with their most popular dish which is the pork belly french toast. My god. My mouth is watering just thinking about this dish! It is quite pricy ($20-$30) but I have no regrets. The chefs did such an amazing job balancing both flavors and textures. You have your crispy pork belly that was just the right amount of fatty, its pretty savory but has hits of sweetness in the marinade. it is very flavorful. This balanced with the perfect bite-sized cubes of french toast was quite the pairing. The french toast was sweet, soft and light on the center and crispy on the outside. On top, you have a light whipped maple cream to add the perfect amount of sweetness to the overall dish. If you are one who cares a lot about the balance of flavors and textures in your food, you will definitely want to come and try this dish out for yourself. I can quite positively say that I was blown away! The atmosphere of the restaurant is also very light and airy. Perfect spot for brunch! It is located within walking distance from the Broad. Disclaimer: I have been a big fan of Tim Hollingsworth since Final Table on Netflix so take that as you will.Despite that, I really do think Otium has a wonderful lunch for food, ambiance, and service. The beauty of Otium is that it truly embodies what my idea of Californian cuisine is - fresh, local ingredients with decadent flavors that highlight the freshness of the ingredients. I have tried several "Californian cuisine" restaurants on my visit but feel most of them are more heavy and New American style. I selected the Shrimp Tom Kha on the bartender's recommendation and it was amazing! (5/5) I loved the coconut juice and Thai spices that flavored the fresh chunks of shrimp, cucumber, and tomatoes. It was presented in a "poke" style where the seafood and veggies are mixed together in a sauce. The lettuce is laid out so you can wrap the poke in the lettuce and eat it as one eats Korean BBQ - this is my recommendation! I wasn't sure if it was the chef's intention to blend the serving styles of different Asian cuisines but that was very creative for me to experience.The Hamachi was more of a 4/5. Yes the fish was fresh but it did not have too much flavor eaten with the rice and avocado. I get that the fish itself did not have a unique enough taste to not receive seasoning of some sort. Or the rice could have been seasoned more like sushi rice. It was a bit bland. The sunomono on the other hand packed a powerful punch! The sunomono was the highlight of this dish - deliciously pickled cabbage in a tart and slightly spicy brine. It is sooo fresh and really highlights the veggies. The chicken was also recommended by my waiter as an original on the menu. I would also give this more of a 4/5 because the chicken felt unevenly flavored. Some parts were sooo savory and delicious while others were a little blander. I really enjoyed the Aji Verde sauce as it tastes like an aioli of the salsa verde I love to eat from taco shops! The potatoes were delicious - crisp, flat, and large for nice textures. Dip it in the aji verde for an experience. I wasn't sure what inspired this dish but it reminded me a bit of the pollo a la brasa in Peruvian food. Anyways, this was a great place to grab lunch for one after visiting the Broad. We started with the Toro Tartar and the octopus, both were delicious, especially the octopus. Then we had the bucatini and agnolotti. Came here for my birthday on Tuesday,  Nov 5. As they say, "Remember, remember, the 5th of November..", and I can say I will! Great ambiance but a bit loud to have a conversation without yelling. The hamachi and the cream were great and so were the pork ribs with spaetzle and gnocchi! My only complaint is something that should be obvious for a restaurant as fancy as this. We ordered their "naan" and it came out steaming hot on a plate. The bottom of the naan got very soggy within a couple minutes because the steam was trapped underneath. My advice to the restaurant: serve it on a plate lined with something to absorb the steam, or let it air out in the kitchen before plating. More...

I haven't been very good about reviewing restaurants in 2019, because health issues prevented me from going out as much as I used to. So I was quite excited to go to Otium -- I marathoned The Final Table and after discovering Tim Hollingsworth had a restaurant, and I'd actually been there before (for drinks!), I decided another visit was in order. I was not disappointed.Maybe it's because I haven't been out to eat beautifully-prepared food in a long while, and enjoyment is relative and all that, but this meal hit all the right notes. For two people, we ordered the following: the octopus (green garlic, pea shoot, coconut); uni (brioche, lardo, pistachio); the famous street corn agnolotti (corn, chile, cotija); the pork chop (horseradish, spaetzle, beet butter); and dry-aged duck breast (prosciutto, chanterelle, corn, fig, tarragon). The duck breast was by far the weakest dish, although still very good, but the octopus & that perfect bite of uni with the toast were superb. The agnolotti was also very good, both sweet and savory.The cocktails are great (which I already knew; they change the menu, so just order what appeals to your fancy & enjoy) and we also shared a bottle of wine, which was perfect with our meal.The only thing I could think is that they did season heavy on the salt, which could be a bit much for some people more sensitive to that flavor on their palate, particularly with the agnolotti, but this was a great meal and a perfect re-entry to dining out & celebrating my better health. I would like to start by saying that you need to try this restaurant. This is my favorite restaurant and I tell everyone about it so this review is long overdue. I have been blown away every single time I've eaten here. I'm not local to LA but I come out just to eat here every couple months. I came in last night and our server Jessica was absolutely amazing! We never have bad service here but she took it to a whole new level! Every time me and my boyfriend come out we order so much food because we know it will be awhile before we can make it back. Tonight we had the naan(one of our favorites) with the truffle butter, Hamachi, spinach bucatini(umm WOW), potato gnocchi, mushroom risotto(wasn't on the menu-Jessica's recommendation), scallops, and the dry aged ribeye! (Just saying this was way too much food for 2 people haha) It was all SO AMAZING though! I have never eaten at a place and had such a consistently delicious meal. Just when you don't think anything can top the previous dish BOOM the next dish comes and your scraping it clean just like the one before! The flavors of everything are just so on point and unlike anything I have ever tried! We also had the "chi dollar sign" (tasted like Christmas) and the "hulk smash" cocktails which were both very tasty and smooth. Their menu is seasonal so their street corn agnolotti unfortunately wasn't on the menu(This was the dish that made me fall in love!) I wish I could buy this stuff by the tray! (The wagu beef tartar for the naan and the brookshire pork chop are also amazing but weren't on the menu tonight) Overall I'm very happy as always but I'm also stressed because now I love so many things on the menu that it's going to be harder to decide each time I go haha! I'm just so impressed! The overall open concept and vibe mixed with the amazing food and staff here I couldn't ask for more from a restaurant. Every time I go, whether it's for brunch or dinner, I've always been more than satisfied with my order. Their chicken dish for dinner is my favorite. It comes with their crispy potatoes, which are so yummy even on their own. The french toast w/ pork belly for brunch seemed like a weird combo, but was oddly a good pairing (especially if you like eating savory with sweet). Okay so first off the food here is amazing! I went with a group of friends and we order a variety of dishes and shared them with the group. We had the three pastas, two fish dishes, and one chicken dish. In my opinion the pastas were the best!Although the food was amazing by the end of the meal I was still very hungry! The portions here are very small which is why I had to mark it down a star. For where they lack in portion size they definitely make up for in flavor! Don't get me wrong the food was very good but I don't think I will return. Due to the fact that I spent $50 and only got maybe 10 bites of food. Also I was so hungry after dinner that I had to stop for fast food on my way home to Santa Barbara. Personally, this was a bummer for me since I do not particularly enjoy fast food. The scallops were so perfectly prepared, the black cod was delicate, and not served in basted sugar, as it so often is.
