Original Draping

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

Me and my new husband hired Ed for our wedding, which was yesterday. He never showed & luckily was only paid his 50% deposit - which was via credit card ( I say luckily as I have hope I may recieve this back).

I'd like to start off by saying when I first contacted him the communication was fantastic, always reachable via email & phone.
I phoned him once & his response to being hard to reace after us paying our deposit was he was "busy taking on new work" I laughed at the time and said it was ok but slowly started to boil as I realised anyone more interested in new work, better than the work they already have, is just out to make as much money as possible & was never going to have the right customer service.
A few months ago I tried to contact Ed, one of the first times since paying my deposit, no answer. He used to expect you to leave a voicemail, so he could work out whether you were an existing part of his scam or a potentially new customer!!
After being promised Ts&Cs and a contract which we never recieved I started to realise something wasn't right. Yes, we should of had those before paying the deposit but we were young, naive & to be honest just excited to start booking things for our wedding day.
After being sceptical in the beginning anyway, I gave Ed the benefit of the doubt, I think the trouble with a lot of the reviews at our time of booking was that a lot was covid related or regarding people asking for deposits back & I wasnt quite sure what the rules were regarding that, so paid more attention to the better reviews.
Prior to booking & paying our deposit, Ed did come & meet with us & also see the venue to discuss and action plan, he was professional & seemed to know what he was talking about.
Around 3 months ago was my last proper contact with Ed before passing everything onto my mother in law.
A few weeks ago I noticed his phone switched off, thats when my suspicions grew further.
6 DAYS BEFORE MY WEDDING I recieve this..

"Hi Ashleigh,

I hope that you are well?

Sorry for the extended delay in coming back to you. I have actually been in hospital and the team have been super busy. I did ask Angela to send over the terms and conditions to you as well as the final invoice. Could you confirm you received these ok?

In terms of the setup for this week are we still ok to install the evening before?

Lets put aside the hospital part, I would never wish ill health on anyone, do I beleive it? No.
But what REALLY grinds on my gears is "busy".. BUSY?? You leave me in the dark for months and then the excuse you have is busy???
I may have given you a deposit but one thing I am not is stupid & I see right through you Ed.
If you ever take the time out to read this I would just like to say.. You must be one pathetic, desperate man & despite what lockdowns have done to business, it will never excuse the heartache you cause people & I wish for you that you find yourself a REAL job.
Angela? Not sure who the hell Angela is? Either some make beleive person or another part of your deceitful scam.

I told him I would pay my final balance on the evening of set up due to my concerns & seeing as there was no contract I was well within my rights.

Shocker when the night before our wedding came, a the sad & pathetic excuse of a man, who had no intention of showing his face, never made his grand entrance to prove us wrong

Where do I start? First off they have ran off with our £450 deposit. Absolute nightmare to get hold of, the funny thing is if you call from a new phone number, that they haven't got saved, they will pick up. If you pay them anything at least do it on a credit card or PayPal then you can at least have a way to get your money back. They looked so promising and maybe they were real at one point, but now it's a con. Would not recommend at all.

Ed and Tom did us proud at our recent wedding reception held in Brockham Village hall, nothing was too much trouble and they transformed the hall into a magical venue for our afternoon reception, thank you so much Siobhan and Shaun

We booked The Original Draping company for our wedding and they delivered exactly what we wanted.From the original booking through to the installation and take down, everything went smoothly. We were aware that our request was unique in that we needed the drapes taken down half way through the wedding day and there were no issues whatsoever.Ed came the day before, which was a very busy and hectic time, he was a delight to work with and set everything up just as we had asked. We contacted Ed fairly short notice before our event as we didn't realise we needed to arrange draping for our venue. He was absolutely brilliant, got back to us very quickly and was fully understanding of the requirements and limitations of our budget and event. He went out of his way to provide photos of options and discuss thoughts over the phone, and also had excellent contact with our venue to arrange sight visits if needed.As it turned out a last minute change of venue meant we didn't require the services of The Original Draping Co. but again Ed was brilliant about this. I would not hesitate to recommend this company to anyone and they will be our first choice for any events in future which require draping. If you use this company you will be in very safe hands, with someone who genuinely takes and interest and cares about the success of your event. Nothing but praise! More...

Very happy with this company. We had an unusual request and they were more than willing to compromise. Ed and Billy were absolutely amazing with the Pipe and Drape of our room. They transformed a traditional English wedding venue into a Disco nightclub glittering in Gold! They were fast, efficient and friendly. They were a HUGE help in creating my wife's 40th birthday Disco extravaganza!! Thank you and will definitely recommend to others and use Original Draping company in the future. We really struggled to find a decent draping company at the right price. I was delighted when I finally made contact with Stacey at the Original Draping Company. She was professional and efficient to deal with at all times and gave us a very competitive quote. There were lots of options for the draping and they also provided lights at no extra charge. The draping transformed a drab hotel room and helped make the venue into somewhere magical for my wedding day. Would highly recommend this company! We used Original Draping for our wedding in the summer. What can we say except Ed was AMAZING. He totally transformed our wedding reception venue. The first time we saw it was when we turned up after our wedding ceremony and literally walked in and it was like wow, totally unrecognisable.

The first time I spoke to Ed, we were sold, he was a really friendly, helpful guy. The man has real passion for what he does and it shows. In the end, we had complete confidence and trust in Ed and were happy for him to do what he thought best to make our venue complete. He knows his stuff and is great at understanding what you want.

In terms of what we wanted and what we got, we have to say Ed went above and beyond.  Our guests commented on how all the draping and lighting really made the place and some used the word 'magical.' We were extremely happy with the service Original draping provided. They came to the venue and went through the different options of decoration they could do with the space and our price range. They were always very helpful, professional and friendly.
They came and set up while we were at the venue making sure were happy with everything they put up and took everything away the next day.
