I have been working with Nico for several months & had my first 10k run rasing £800. For charity I have become fitter and stronger . .. Q&As

When life gets crazy and responsibilities at home and work pile one on top of the other, it’s easy to let our health and fitness slip. The years go by and we don’t even realize how much our health had declined.

But for most of us, there comes a time when we realize things must change. A time when gaining control over our body takes on new urgency.

For some, it’s a scary health diagnosis. For others it’s watching a loved one struggle with their own health problems. And for others still, it’s when they finally realize they’ve spent so many years taking care of others, that they neglected to take care of themselves.

When it’s time to turn things around and start a new health and fitness program, however, it can be difficult to know what to do next. And staying motivated is hard — especially if you try to do it all on your own.

That’s where I come in.

My goal is to help you get in the best shape of your life and stay that way. Starting now.

This Not A Diet.

You're bombarded with information. You probably know what to do and how to eat. Even if you didn't you'd be able to find out how. We live in the information age.

The thing is, information isn't enough. We almost never change just because we get “information”. We know that we should all be eating '5 a day', exercising, limiting alcohol and not smoking. So why aren't we all doing this?

Changing your habits helps. Sure. But what if you get stuck? If you’ve ever tried a habit-based program in the past you might have got stuck on which habits, what order, how to do them... the list goes on.

Habit-based coaching in general is a great start, and it’s a great approach. But it’s not a plan.

The answer is a well planned curriculum. A set of strategic, logical lessons and activities that go in a particular order, step by step.

It is likely that you know lots about what you should be doing. The trouble is that what you do doesn't match what you know you should do. I coach you through a purposeful progressive plan that helps you develop your skills though a series of:

• Resources for learning
• A proven plan of action - yes you will be practising your skills daily

Starting with the fundamentals is important - just like learning anything we start at the beginning.

What sets this apart from all the information out there is that it ensures you start in the right place: with the fundamental skills you need to get and stay healthy, fit, and active for life.

Over time, you progress as you get better and more confident at doing the skills.

We then build on the fundamentals with supporting skills that are more challenging.

Importantly, we always have an escape rout. If you ever feel overwhelmed, we always have the default fundamental skills to fall back on so that you can be confident you'll never lose the basics.

Consistently working on tiny habits towards your goal.

We all have a certain potential, and whether we are future Olympians, or we just want to eat, move and live better, or be the best parent or grand parent.

Whatever you want to be, it is unlikely you have reached your potential and it excites me that together we can work towards you becoming the best version of yourself even if you've been stagnating for decades.

I’ve noticed that fitness has always been there for me. When I focus on my own health and fitness everything else seems to fall into place, and this has a snowball effect.

My interest in health and fitness had been sparked in the 90s, and if I was not on my bike I could be found with my head buried in various fitness magazines and books.

I decided to become a personal trainer because I am a born helper and teacher with a passion for learning and sharing my knowledge of health and fitness.

Maybe you've tried dieting and after initial success you've ended back where you started. Or you've been told or have begun to accept 'it's just how you are'. That it's your genetics, your thyroid, your age, your gender or your situation.

Having a limiting factor such as your genetics, your physiology such as a thyroid condition or even cultural or lifestyle expectations should not be used as an excuse to reaching your potential.

So I encourage you to challenge yourself and your beliefs. How much do you think you can improve yourself over the next 12 months?

Maybe you're currently experiencing guilt surrounding food, or you feel deprived because you always seem to be dieting.

Maybe you're overweight, or you lack energy, even though you feel like you barely eat.

Maybe you're lacking confidence in yourself, in your food preparation and when it comes to which piece of conflicting 'diet' advice you should be taking.

Maybe you recently skipped a proper meal or declined extra vegetables only to find yourself over-eating later in the day, or thinking incessantly about food, peering into the cupboards or the fridge and in the end opting for unhealthy comfort foods.

Whatever your reason, my mission is to get you a place of confidence, where you know you're making great lifestyle choices - even without thinking about them.

Online coaching allows us to offer more support at a fraction of the price of in person personal training and nutrition coaching. Without the added stress of in person meetings, and the time pressure of having to get to a physical location, since moving our business online in 2016 we have been able to help hundreds of clients achieve and maintain their best health.

We are based entirely online which means covid is taken out of the equation. If a client is having coaching in terms of exercise, we offer a range of support including home based workouts that avoid the need for gyms and crowded places completely.
