Dropped into this gym while on a trip to Boulder. Tim was incredibly friendly and helpful. This gym is laid back and no frills where you can get a solid workout in. The place has a lot of character and nice quirks such as a continuous jenga game for members. Would definitely recommend this neighborhood gym. More...

Cannot recommend this gym enough.  My husband and I are visiting Boulder from Michigan and wanted a "drop-in" gym while we are here.  We usually work out at a larger chain gym so we wanted the same weight machines and found everything we needed.  Tim and Jason could not have been more welcoming.  The gym is unique in that it is located in a former bar room of a hotel.  Friendly atmosphere and not too crowded.  They have experienced trainers and I would have booked a training session if we stayed longer. I particularly liked how skilled and encouraging both Jason and the other trainer were with clients while I was there.  Thanks guys More...

Tim made us feel right at home. I called at about 8:30AM and said we were from out of town, looking to get a day pass. We showed up at 10:30 and were greeted at the door by Tim as he says “YOU MADE IT! ” He gave us the tour and let us get to work. This gym is in the bottom of a hotel, and the most unique thing you’ve ever seen. It’s complete with everything you need. Affordable rates and unparalleled customer service. Thanks Tim! More...

It is nothing fancy as a gym, but it is really cheap and it has the necessities for getting a workout. That said, I'd recommend it almost exclusively for the fact it gives you access to a taekwondo class run by a phenomenal instructor and an amazing community. My husband and I signed up for the membership so we could join the TKD sessions and it was worth every penny. Normally tkd instructors charge for the honor of joining their classes. The man who runs these classes does it entirely for free and he is incredibly passionate about it. It has been a great honor to know him. More...

Tim at the front desk was so kind and helpful. The gym had everything I needed to do a full body strength training day. Will definitely go back again the next time I’m in boulder. More...

This gym is great when it comes to availability and space. It's never crowded, and I barely have to wait for equipment at all. It's a very low key workout, in a good way. They also have a good number of fitness trainers if that's your sort of thing. Staff is very friendly and it's honestly an excellent value compared to other options in the area. My only gripe is that some of the cardio equipment is a little dated. The weight stuff is too, but let's be honest iron is iron so no big deal there. Definitely come check it out. More...

This club is the best kept secret in Boulder - probably because it is housed in an unlikely location:  the back of the old Broker Inn at the end of 30th St.  We like it because it's reasonably priced, not crowded, has all the equipment that a body would need and is populated by regular folks who just want to get and or keep in shape (read sweats and t-shirts, not spandex).  My trainer is Shannon Derby who is so familiar with exercises and body parts that she can tweek workouts depending on whatever ailment I may present.  Her workouts are endlessly varied.  Tim is always smiling and greets people by name - he's the go-to membership guy. My husband and I have been members of Mountains' Edge Fitness for many years, especially like their classes which really motivate me to keep working out. Sometimes I visit the club 4-5 times in a week. Mountains Edge relocated to the Broker Inn this past fall and I enjoy coming to the new location, a cleverly designed retro look. The location feels spacious and the upstairs fitness classroom is ideal. The Broker's kitchen down the hall is used occasionally for catering and baking, sometimes we're working out to the warm smell of cinnamon. There are a huge variety of classes for all levels of ability and interests--cardio, sports fitness, interval training, weights, yoga, balance, stretching etc. The instructors are top notch, enthusiastic, take care that you exercise properly and encourage you to push yourself just a bit more. Thank you for keeping me in shape. The front desk crew are super! Friendly, welcoming and it puts a smile on my face to walk in the door to a friendly greeting and the daily trivia question. Fabulous trainers, friendly members, and an atmosphere that supports fitness are three of the qualities that draw me back to Mountain's Edge over and over again. Some of us long time members have likened this gym to the message in the theme song from that sitcom, "Cheers"  whose opening lyrics say, "where everybody knows your name and everybody's glad you came"  It might sound corny, but when I returned to Mountains Edge five  years ago, after a long hiatus, both members and staff remembered me.  It felt good!  And I always get a good workout, no matter if I''m in a class, on the eliptical, or doing an individual training session.  Check it out! MEF is such a great gym; it really has something for everyone, from seniors walking on the treadmill in jeans to 20 year old bodybuilder guys. The staff are excellent; they are always friendly and ready to help if you need something, but otherwise they leave you to your workout. And there is really no "scene;" it's just a very down to earth, awesome place to get some good exercise. It's very clean and well-maintained, and the trainers all seem like extremely nice people with zero attitude, which is a welcome difference from a lot of fitness facilities in Boulder. As for the new location, it feels larger and less crowded than the old location, plus the fact that cardio and weights are in two separate rooms is nice; definitely more room for stretching and yoga ball exercises. There are also a lot of nice little touches: a trivia question to answer when you come in, basket of ponytail holders in the changing room in case you forgot yours, etc. Definitely highly recommended if you're looking for something different than the cookie-cutter corporate gyms!
