As a filmmaker I wanted to bend the myth that cameras are scary! Michelle created this loveable little mascot for me which I've named and everything - she's the perfect side-kick, mascot and brand ambassador. Her approach to design is modern, quirky and fresh. She knows what you want and then some and she's super organised and lovely too. It's hard to find a creative talent that's good at everything. Describe your creative process.
I meet with my clients in person whenever possible, otherwise I arrange a Skype video chat or phone call. I take a brief by asking about their requirements, their target market and their preferred style. Next I sketch out ideas with pencil and paper before taking them into a design programme (either Adobe Illustrator or Adobe InDesign) to work up the final artwork for digital or print.
What information do you need from a client before you can start work?
I ask my clients a lot of questions about the kind of design they admire, whether that's a logo design they like or a certain type of font, or even just their preferred colour palette. I also talk to them about the sector they're in, what their competition is like, and who their target market is.
What do you love most about your job?
Taking someone's ideas and bringing them to life! Being able to use my creative skills in a commercial way.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I've always been creative and was drawing cartoons from a young age. After completing a degree in Illustration I found it hard to find the right creative job, so ended up starting my own business!
