Mazuma Accountants

Utterly awful – and by the looks of it, my experience is similar to most. I feel like an idiot for trusting Mazuma again after filing my return late last year, because I'm right back in the same position now. Despite having all paperwork *for months* in advance, they haven't done the work on time. I have a service level agreement that is not being met, formal complaints going totally unanswered, and I'm still no closer to getting any answers. Sad to see I am not the only one who fell for the marketing pitch and signed with them hoping they will do what they promise: hassle free accounting, pro active support, promt response and overall help with my business. That's all I was looking for. I was foolish enough to appoint them as my self employed as well as my LTD's accountants. All they do is send automated emails, regardless of what you ask them. Just an example: I am on annual VAT however every single month they were chasing me for VAT documents, even after numerous phonecalls telling them I am on annual. To answer an email takes minimum 3 weeks, but for now I am still waiting for an email I sent them over 4 weeks ago as of today. They pose as a serious accountant company but the truth is there is only 1 guy answering the phone if you want to reach them. Good luck anyways reaching them as their automated( they arew extremely good at automation) phone lines will hang up after 60 seconds... saying there is noone to take your call right now. That means the single call center preson is handling another complaint.... As others mention they do not offer refund for not doing their job but on the top of that they do not complete work for the period they got paid. I am waiting for an update from them since 1st of November. Nevertheless I decided to leave them when I realized they are simly con artists, the next day they sent me an email to welcome me in the team and gave me details of what paperwork I needed to send them... Avoid this company at all costs if you value your money. My experience with this company has been nothing short of disappointing. Initially, I was drawn in by their prompt responses during the sales pitch, but my optimism quickly faded once the payment was made. I had reached out to Sam Brown, explaining the challenges I faced with my previous company's lack of support, only to be met with a disparaging remark about them. Despite my reservations, I proceeded. The first red flag arose when, after a swift response to secure their services, the communication drastically declined post-payment. Accountant Jordan Hughes, who initially reached out, seemed eager to engage in the first few days. However, any subsequent attempts to contact the company with inquiries were met with silence or delayed responses of over a week. Frustrated with the lack of communication and assistance, I decided to cancel my account and request a refund two weeks ago. Sam Brown reached out, assuring me of improvements, and against my better judgment, I agreed to give them another chance. However, the cycle repeated itself, with Molly Avery promptly contacting me for direct debit setup but subsequent silence from accountant Jordan Hughes. After patiently waiting for over a week for a response to my queries, I was once again prompted to cancel my account. This time, when I requested a refund, I was met with resistance. Molly Avery informed me that they wouldn't issue a refund, even though they failed to uphold their commitment to improving their service. In summary, steer clear of this company. While they are quick to respond when it comes to taking your money, their responsiveness evaporates when it comes to delivering the promised services. Save yourself the headache and avoid this company – their actions speak louder than their words. UPDATE: Besides thieves you are liars, you didn't do anything, all the bookkeeping was done by me and therefore you just kept my money. You even tried to take down my comment so that other people can lose their money too. To remove the negative comments and receive the money, you are quick to respond, but to do the work you were hired to do, you never respond. You never made any other offer or wanted to resolve this amicably, you simply denied the refund request after promising that you would do so by asking for my bank details, so you are the one who didn't live up to your word once again. Used this company to help with my personal and business accounts whilst taking time off work to look after my newborn. I have used another accountant for years for my personal tax and I feel so bad I switched because I needed more help on the business side and he seemed too expensive, Mazuma were maybe £100 cheaper. If I'd have known just how much chasing and phone calls/emails I'd have had to do I'd never have switched. Still waiting on my corporate tax return and info that company is dormant, despite several promises it will be with me this week and the week before etc, seems like they always have an excuse. I was passed to several different accountants which made it worse as well. Feel like I'm going to get fined/struck off because I've left my accounting affairs in their hands and I genuinely don't have the time to sort my own taxes...but what else do you pay an accountant for!? I used this accounting company for 3 months. I've paid them £575 for catch up fees, on top of the £112 monthly payment (3 months). In this period of time, I received VAT penalties, HMRC warnings, and a prosecution letter because the confirmation statement with Companies House wasn't filled on time. They were supposed to do this in June, and I am writing this today, 28th of September. When I asked them to help me fix this, they asked for more money! How is that possible? I have no idea! Very poor company. Left due to very poor service and communication. Still waiting for my annual accounts to be finished even though I've left over 3 months ago. Tried to contact Josie who is suppose to be responsible for my accounts but she never returns any calls. The only time she has called me is when I said I was leaving!! Even my new accountant's have sent several emails which have been unanswered. Would not recommend this service to anybody. They're very happy to take the money not provide the service. Every time I'd call I'd spend days on the phone getting passed around the office from person to person and also be prepared for them to find any way possible to charge you for "extras" on top of the monthly fee.

This is my second review for this Company Mazuma. They are a truly dedicated team who always go the extra mile to ensure that progress is made and any hiccups are ironed out. They are a delight to work with and I am hoping that and I am sure there is already forging an excellent working relationship that will see many success stories come about. Would we at Great Connections Products Ltd recommend to anyone else; we would rate them as 19/10 this will increase as we travel down the road together. May I give special credit to Molly Avery who was so patient and helpful when things were not working well on my laptop. It helped me get through and was able to convey why I find things sometimes more difficult than I should after having had a stroke. But once I had remade the connection in my brain it was fine again. I used Mazuma last year for one of my businesses that was a little bit behind with the bookkeeping. I paid nearly double for 3 months as “catch up fees” only they never actually caught up. They charged me for 3, nearly 4 months and done absolutely nothing in that time period. Nothing! I have now been asking for VAT receipts for them payments for over a month to give to my new accountant, and they still haven’t sent them over and when I call the office I don’t even get an answer on the phone! Incredibly poor level of service. Returns are left till the very last minute and more often than not incorrect due to “missed figures”. I’ve been with them for year and experienced missed deadlines, incorrect filings and countless misallocated expenses, I’m not sure if it’s lack of competency or complete negligence. Do yourself and your business a favour and look elsewhere for accounting services, your tax efficiency and general business success is not their priority. Fantastic service!! I absolutely love this service which I have been using for nearly 9 years. Mazuma Accountancy have made the whole process so easy for me since I became self-employed as a Sole Trader. They have taken away all the stress associated (at least for me!) with doing all my accounts and tax returns. They also did the Management Accounts for a property I used to own which eased the whole process. I have always found the staff to be super helpful, especially Hayley, and very efficient. Been paying you £95+vat per month for 7 months for you to not answer the phone to me once. If I hadn't paid so much already I would switch very quickly, once my accounts are filed (hopefully before the due date) I will 100% not be using you again. I would not recommend them, I would never use this kind of service for accountants and just go somewhere I can speak with someone face to face. This service just does not work. You'll be greeted really nicely at the beginning and they'll call you with updates but if you should actually need their services (which are included in the paid plan I use) you will not be able to access their support for 2+ months which just is not useful More...

I changed to Mazuma in the new financial year, as they promised quick responses, VAT returns, self assessment, etc in the package. The response was only good until I signed up and that was a mistake from my part. They actually signed me up for the wrong service for starters, so it was a trainwreck from there and just downhill ever since. So far the service has been severely lacking, I've so far received two warnings from HMRC, due to Mazuma's abysmal support. I'm not entirely sure what I'm paying for as I've received little to no service from them, or terrible service if anything. They are friendly over the phone but no substance, only talk.
