RUBBISH SERVICE-DONT USE THEM!!! They never answer the phone, don't give refunds, and don't pay the pet-sitters (you need to pay them directly). Never again! Better to arrange with pet sitters independantly. Complete waste of money and time.

Max&Kitty is a total scam.

I booked a petsitter which then cancelled on me last minute. Naturally, I asked M&K for a refund. It has been over a month now and no refund. They have been ignoring all my recent emails and calls- very unprofessional.

I will be seeking legal help in order to get my money back. Terrible company and I'm pretty sure all the reviews shown on their website are fake.

Found Max and Kitty on line. They seemed ideal to meet my needs. They advertised their prices as all inclusive but then charged extra for the health and cancellation insurance. While I was away my dog needed to go to the vet. The sitter contacted M&K first and were told that they would be reimbursed within 15 days for the vet fees. It took over three months, my involvement a an official complaint to the Financial Omudsman to get the payment. Why are they charging owners for health insurance and then not paying the sitters? It's a rip-off. Would not use them again. A shame since my sitter was excellent and lovely and my dogs were very happy with her.

Beware! Max and Kitty do not refund pet insurance claims even when they assure you they will. They do not respond to telephone calls or emails so if you are in need of their assistance. Beware!

I wish I would have read these reviews prior to booking and I wouldn't have bothered as I have had the same dreadful experience.
I discovered my booking had been cancelled by max an kitty a week before my holiday! I only found this out as dog sitter was kind enough to inform me.
Max an kitty couldn't offer any explanation as to why this had happened.
I asked for a refund as I had lost faith in them by this point.
Initially I was asked to provide bank statements as proof! I refused to do this and was shocked that they were we ring to cause me a greater inconvenience than they already had.
I was promised a refund and despite several e mails it is yet to arrive.
I have sought advice from trading standards and feel that they need to look at stopping this company from trading now I have read these reviews.
DO NOT USE THIS RIP OFF COMPANY

I paid £43.60 for 3 day's sitting and was advised to pay the dog sitter £9 when I dropped my dog off. When I phoned the sitter he said he was £30 per night not £17.50 as advertised on Max & Kitty and had no idea why I was told to pay him £9. The sitter then cancelled my booking as he couldn't take a lower payment. I asked Max & Kitty for a refund as they didn't find me another sitter. They said I had to email not message through the website. Why?? I still haven't received a refund. I really would avoid these cowboys at all costs. You definitely do not get what it says on the tin. I am now disputing my payment to them via my credit card. I think it's the only way I will get my money back.

I have never had any problems with Max and Kitty. I am still relatively new to using the site but operationally haven't had any problems.

However I have recently found out just how little I am getting paid for my services and the extortionate amount of money Max and Kitty make.

As a real life example, on my profile, my charges for boarding in my own home for 1 cat is set so I earn £6.50 per night as the standard price (the 'best price' based on studies done apparently). Yes, you can alter your charges but the pet owner ends up getting charged an extortionate amount too so people are less likely to look at your profile!

If you search for my profile as a potential owner, 1 night stay for your cat in my home will set you back £16.87. Max and Kitty make £10.37, per night, while I make £6.50.

Other sites that I am part of charge around 20% commission and still offer swanky and fully comprehensive insurance. I don't think Max and Kitty offers anything at all that these other pet sitting sites don't offer. I am extremely disappointed. I'm not getting a good deal and the owner is certainly not getting a reasonable deal.

Thanks for you speedy reply and confirming you will give a refund, could I please ask why when you correctly stated I cancelled on the 21st Dec 2017, and today's date is 17th Jan 2018 how could it possibly taken you 27 days to confirm that your sending the refund?

I mean a massive company like Tesco does not have there own dedicated refund department, like you claim to have. Is it your swamped with so many angry customers not even your own refund department is able to process refunds to customers in 27 days? Looking at some of your bad reviews on facebook some people have waited 2 months and still not had there refunds. How on earth is it possible to take so long ?

I have had to send over 12 emails 3 recorded delivery letters giving notice of court action. Passed the matter to trading standards and report the matter to the Legal department of my credit card supplier. But giving a bad review seems to be first sign that maybe your refund department might REFUND ME

Even though you have confirmed you will refund. Not 1p has been received back in the 27 days so fare, and Monday afternoon it will go to court if the full refund is not received.

While we are at it could someone at MaxKitty please explain why they have a £50 admin charge for anyone who cancels due to not being happy with the pet sitter that was provided.
But if you pay extra to Max & Kitty to have the cancellation insurance and you cancel there is then a £60 admin charge?

What is the extra work Max & Kitty have to do to charge a higher admin fee for someone who has paid extra for the cancellation insurance?
The whole point of cancellation insurance is to have peace of mind in case you plans change. So how does it work out you pay for the cover and then get stitched up with admin fees if you use it????

People do expect to pay a finders fee for using the service but your finders fee goes up depending on the time you will need the sitter to look after your pets. Then in most cases the poor sitter who must feed, walk and clean up behind your pet. Will only have around 40% of the money you pay and Maxx & Kitty pocket 60% finders fee????

How is that fare

If your charging a finders fee it should never be more than the poor person who is taking care of the persons animals

I would strongly recommend anyone thinking of using this bunch to look at the reviews on Face book and here where they are not watered down. The reviews on there web site are by invite of Max and Kitty only and the INDEPENDENT .verified-reviews.co.uk that they use on there web site is a paid service by Max and Kitty and only way to leave a review is with there invite.
So you wont find many angry customers on there website reviews only the very happy customers that they select to give them a review on there paid for service!!!

If you still feel there worth giving a go, read all there T & Cs as some have shocked me and I can not even see how there able to trade in this way and trading standards are looking it to them as we speak

Bunch of Cowboys
Firstly if you use this bunch first they do little to no checks at all on the pet sitters
Then there is fact they will charge you more just for the contacts of the pet sitter
If you pay extra for cancellation insurance it gives you next to nothing extra than paying
For no insurance

When you want a refund they do not reply and give NOTHING back

Trading standards and if need be small claims court will be brought in

Read all there t and c

Do not wast loads time messaging people just give it a try and see the crazy high charges they want for contact details of your sitter

Never again and I would not recommend these cowboys to anyone

Horrible service, they don't reply to emails and I am still waiting my refund after more than 2 months. I really recommend to avoid this company.

I've used Max & Kitty twice now to find a home-stay for an elderly cat, and it's worked out really well.

You can browse sitters, seeing a profile and approximate location, and discuss your pet's needs, before making any commitment.

When you sign up you are assigned an 'advisor', which I thought would be more or less like your "personal banking manager" if you're not earning a huge salary - a largely theoretical notion. In actual fact, Tsvet contacted me within hours of my sign-up to make sure I was comfortable with how it all worked, talked me through my first booking and, when the sitter I chose was forced to cancel, stepped in find someone else really quickly. I'll definitely be using them again in the future.

unreliable service, let down twice for the w/ends and the replacement sitter didn't know how to treat a dog, covered a room with plastic and put a gate up to lock my dog in. One good sitter but the plan was for the dog to go to his home and that also changed to him coming to my home which is not what we wanted
