Tried to buy tennis shoes online from other well known tennis websites but shoes disappointing, didn't fit and had to be returned. Was recommended to go to Maurice Robinson Sports in Birmingham and it was so worthwhile. Great advice, opportunity to try lots of different shoes and discover what shoe suited me best. Found a fantastic pair of Babolat shoes and discovered I needed a half size up from my usual size. Played in the new shoes the same day and following day and couldn't be happier. What's more, I ended up paying less than the shoes were online from the well known tennis websites!! Didn't expect that!! Thanks, I'll be returning! More...

I've been shopping at Maurice Robinsons for all of my badminton equipment for years. My most recent visit, I needed a new racket (from my original Voltric 70). I spoke to Michelle about my previous rackets and which characteristics I would look for in a racket. Michelle recommended the 'racket loan scheme' where I try out any racket I'd like to, so I could make a definitive decision when purchasing my racket. Michelle recommended several top performance rackets, which I tried out. I went for the Astrox 88D (I bought 2!) She was very patient, approachable and incredibly accommodating to what I was looking for. I have always recommended everyone to go to Maurice Robinsons for their professional service and in-depth knowledge of all products they sell. 5/5 from me! More...

Extremely welcoming staff, who will try everything in power to help you get the racket/product best suited for you. Personally, couldn't be happier with the products I bought, and would highly recommend the shop to anyone. I will definitely be visiting in the future, despite being at the other end of the country! If you want a genuine "Try before you buy" experience look no further than Wendy and her brilliant team at Maurice Robinson Sports in Birmingham. I live in PLYMOUTH but was still happy to travel to the shop with my son who wanted to buy a top range Badminton Racket and accessories because they went the extra mile.Their 'try before you buy' is the real deal as opposed to the frankly pathetic offers from other sports shops which to sum up, just said "...Well you could buy up to three rackets (at Full Price) and leave the shop and then return two (at your own P&P cost) and they will refund the difference (great!!!). Needless to say, I didn't waste anytime with them.In contrast Wendy, Michelle, and the team at Maurice Robinson were absolutely determined to make sure that the racket was perfect for my son, especially as it was going to be his 18th Birthday present. They even arranged for a fantastic badminton coach (thanks Andy!) to help Alex in his decision-making.So, it is a 10/10 for them. My son is happy, I'm happy, and it was totally worth the round trip. Keep up the good work and we will certainly be taking advantage of your re-stringing service.Mark P Kerridge More...

Fantastic sports shop, particularly for racquet sports. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff.
I joined their demo scheme for tennis racquets, where you pay a deposit and can try a range of different types before buying one at a discounted price.
They were very helpful, and I bought a great racquet from them for less than I could find online.

This really is an excellent company offering real "old-fashioned" personal service, initially recommended by my son's badminton coach. I called them and Michelle was extremely helpful, able to answer all my questions and extremely knowledgeable about how to choose the right badminton and tennis racquets for my children, as well as recommending good value, high quality products. The racquets arrived quickly and with a helpful, personal note. Cannot recommend them highly enough More...

After seeing a good deal on the website for a new badminton racket, I rang Maurice Robinson Sports to ask for some further information. The lady I spoke to was able to answer all my questions and gave some excellent advice on re-stringing. I had asked for the racket to be delivered and when she spotted that my address was on her route home, she offered to drop it off on her way back from work so that I could have it the same day. Absolutely world class service. Thanks Maurice Robinson Sports. More...

I like Maurice Robinson Sports, mainly because of the name. It harks back to a bygone age when footballers hung up their boots and either ran a pub or opened a sports shop. For many years, as a kid, I was taken by my Granddad to the now defunct Harry Parkes shop in central Brum. Harry played for Aston Villa in the 1940s and 50s, and my old Granddad was a fan, so that's where we went for my boots. Similarly, in the 1980s, George Graham had a sports shop in Cockfosters, North London. By the time I went there to attend University in the early 1990s, Graham was managing Arsenal but the shop remained. I'm not sure if Maurice ever played professional sport, but given that this is a very old school sports shop reminiscent of times gone by, I rather hope that he did. See, this isn't your stack-em-high-sell-em-cheap sports emporium typified by JJB and the like, this is a small shop that carries only one or two of each item, yet still manages to cater for pretty much any sport you can mention. We've bought swimming stuff for our sun, tennis balls, and, most recently, a gum shield for my wife, who has recently taken up the terrifying sport of Roller Derby. On each occasion we've been in the staff have been friendly and helpful and, should you not find what you're looking for, are happy to order it in. More...

A dependable, local sports store that will re-string your tennis racket or supply you with some much needed table tennis bats when you've abused your equipment beyond self-repair. They also have a variety of other stock including running shoes, goggles and sports bras.Whether it be tennis, badminton, squash or racquetball they will happily dispense their knowledge to guide you towards the supreme racquet and supplementary equipment. They're very friendly and if you're in a dilemma as to which sweatbands will make you look like Bjorn Borg back-in-the-day I'm sure they would know of the whereabouts of some aged, circa 1970 sweatbands. If you're into your sports Maurice Robinson is there to cater for your interests. A super sports shop, I visit this shop whenever I need anything to do with my badminton playing. New racquets, shoes, restringing, everything is offered here. The staff are very friendly, and are always up to the job. I'd highly recommend this shop to anyone who plays racquet sports, and they also serve most other sports too. More...
