I first met Matt in December 2018 shortly after a first initial trial of a large drug conspiracy case collapsed. The previous barrister could not continue in the retrial, but Matt came highly recommended.
Matt in a short amount of time got up to speed with the case which was already 11months in. He professionally scrutinized the files and picked it apart with precision. Picking up on key points to present his case in court. His presentation in court was next to none, truly outstanding. He clearly presented his case and forced to prosecution to review their case against me, highlighting errors in their work which I am certain got me the not guilty verdict.
Overall Matt has a charismatic and caring approach to his clients but fierce and robust in the court room. I can not recommend Matt enough or emphasis my true gratitude for his amazing work which got me my freedom after a long court case nearly totalling 18months.

I first met Matt Lawson during the course of a very high value and complex fraud case. I was present at a number of conference meetings, both as a contributor and observer, where Matt, along with other Counsel, was in attendance. He always struck me as someone who could listen to and digest a diatribe of evidence, quickly identify the salient points and educe the nub of a problem - he was quick to sort the wheat from the chaff.
Time and again copious documents were cynically dumped at the last minute before an important court hearing and Matt would burn the midnight oil to be armed, ready and up to speed the following morning with his clarity of thought and persuasive arguments.
He was tireless and relentless in his pursuit of a fair hearing - arguing eloquently and persuasively before a judge for disclosure of pertinent evidential documents which were clearly being withheld by the prosecution.

I was fortunate enough to have Matt at my side for nearly 3 years during a complex and demanding Fraud trial. Along with two other Juniors Matt stood head and shoulders above all others in his attention to detail, work ethic and availability. Matt filled the gap between QC and client that can often exist and I was never left in the dark. Matt is hands on and provides the support that is often missing in these relationships. Huge amounts of data were served, often at the 11th hour and on more than one occasion it was evident that Matt had been burning the candle to be on top of everything and ahead of his peers.
