We loved this place. Imaginative and innovative food and, most importantly, delicious. Good tables outside which were not noisy, nor next to traffic fumes. Service good and well-informed. I would recommend Maison Bab for the food alone, but found the service to be all over the place last night. It did seem very busy for a Monday night, and perhaps they had too few staff on, but that doesn't account for our server who seemed to have mistaken being 'matey' for being polite. He seemed determined to approach us with this incredibly laid back too-cool-for-school attitude, but when things started to go wrong (like drinks not arriving, having to literally wave someone down to get any service), he seemed to forget that just saying "sorry" would be what a customer wanted. Instead, drinks that had been forgotten were delivered with "I expect you wanted these half an hour ago" and a free drink (which we didn't ask for) to apparently make up for another drink being left sitting on the side was put down with "Here's a free one, merry christmas". Really bizarre and quite annoying to be honest. More...
