I love this place so much, it is my favorite weekend morning spot. The cafe is bright, open and airy, the food is yummy and everyone who works here is friendly and on top of things. I have a gluten allergy and they always remember, ensure my food is gluten free, and they even give me two sandwiches for the regular price because the gluten free bread is smaller than the regular. The owner works alongside the staff and it is evident that the staff all care about each other and about the service they provide. The kitchen can be a little slow but I never come here in a rush so that is fine with me. If you are looking for a homey and well loved cafe with great service, this is the place to go. More...

I used to live in Fair Oaks back in the day... like 50 years of days ago, and although I now live on the opposite end of the Valley, I find myself drawn back to my old high school stomping grounds. So, on my trek out to my dogs' vet for some medication, I decided to make two stops: Babette's Yarn Shop and a little gem of a place called "Love at First Bite". I had driven by it a couple of times since my return to California three years ago because of its juxtaposition between my pugs' groomer and their vet.  From the restaurant's name I thought it was some kind of dating/meeting place like those night clubs they had in the 60s-70s where they placed phones at each table that eager patrons could use to connect to one another and that's the LAST thing I needed or wanted to experience. As a matter of fact, living in the Land of the Neurodiverse, I tend to limit my foray into new adventures, however I was feeling refreshingly confident yesterday having successfully navigated my way through both the nightmare scenario presented by the Human Resources Fingerprinting Unit of the S.J.U.S.D. (arthritis sucks) in order to accompany my precocious but lovable grandson on an upcoming field trip (he was refusing to attend) and the vet's office where a discussion was had over the options surrounding "Quality of Life Evaluations" for senior pets. Needless to say, a stop for some comfort food was the order of the day. On this day, there sat outside the door of the place, a black chalkboard that said "Come, Try the French Toast that one lady on Yelp said was too big for her kid- Love at First Bite"I ordered the biscuits and gravy and although I was warned about the humongous portions, I ordered a side of roasted potatoes, too. And since I have the palate of a four years old child, I also requested a large glass of whole milk to be served WITH my meal. (87% of wait persons forget this, I get it... )The restaurant was warm and inviting inside... the wait person could have been the owner he seemed that invested in his presentation. If my thinking were more typical, perhaps I could have saved him from having to relay all the wondrous specialties of the day and just ordered in my child-like way but he truly beamed in sharing their offerings so I let him deliver his soliloquy and THEN ordered my biscuits and gravy and tall glass of whole milk, WITH my meal. Another employee/owner? stopped by my table to ensure my order had been taken and that I wasn't wanting for refreshment as yet. While I was texting my girlfriend in North Dakota and before you know it, my food AND my tall glass of WHOLE milk arrived! Oh.My.God. I was in HEAVEN! The BEST biscuits and gravy combo I've had in memory (and I accompanied my dad cross-country from truck stop to truck stop back in the 60s). The consistency was perfect... at one point I stuck my fork in the gravy to utilize my napkin and it stood vertical! The biscuit was flaky, hot and huge! The price was quite reasonable, the service, exemplary! I was not left waiting to order, nor for  my food, nor my milk, nor my to-go containers, nor my check, nor my payment processing, yet never did I feel rushed. That's an art form right there! And the portion size? I'll be eating this for days... And then? Then...I'll be BACK! More...

Lunch was amazing! We were visiting family in Sacramento last week and were taken to lunch at Love At first Bite Cafe. All 4 of us enjoyed our food. Wish we would have taken pictures to show the beautiful plates. Vicente (owner and chef) and his wife Gabrellella (owner and Hostess ) were so warm and greeting. After our meal Vicente sent over to our table a little sweetness which was a thin pancake (much like a crepe but thicker) with a lemon curd and mascarpone. Pure deliciousness! After living here my whole life, I've driven by many times in hopes to visiting what everyone says is a really delicious, unique hole-in-the-wall spot. It is, in fact, a hole in the wall and would've been harder to find without the sign on San Juan, but I'm pleasantly surprised by how delicious the food was. I got the "Amazing French Toast" with strawberry's and blueberries & a side of bacon. The French toast was very flavorful, moist and evenly coated with all of the toppings. The bacon was the perfect crisp & had so much flavor in it. I got a coffee and root beer & the coffee was amazing - they don't have flavored creamers which was disappointing, but half and half and sugar does the job just fine. My aunt whom I was with wanted a diet whatever-they-have and our server told us they were out.. weird, but okay. So she got a Dr. Pepper and another server, Keleey, came to check on us after dropping off our food and we asked to verify they were out of diet, the weren't and they actually had diet Dr. Pepper, which is what we wanted in the first place. The food was pretty food, but I give the place 4 stars just because our server wasn't that knowledgeable on the menu & selections they had. Don't get me wrong, she was sooo sweet and attentive, but she was probably new and just needed a little more training. I think a couple more days going over the menu & server basics, then she'd be amazing (I'm a server myself, so only good things)! However, if you've never been here, I highly recommend trying it out. The name of the place pretty much says it all. One bite of my HUGE Cobb Salad was love for me. I love Cobb Salad, and their salads are FULLY LOADED! Generous portions of bacon, chicken, avocado, perfectly cooked hard boiled eggs (no nasty green ring!!!), blue cheese, and tomatoes. All sections off on the salad. I mean, I prefer my salads tossed (giggity), but nothing I couldn't do myself. My husband had their capresse salad, which was great, since I definitely couldn't finish mine by myself. Besides that ridiculous salad, the desserts looked amazing. Didn't have any, but I sure would consider it next time and I was in the area.Friendly staff, they even have regulars, clean tables and restrooms.Come here and find out what Love and First Bite truly means. This is really two reviews - one for the restaurant and one for their catering services. We've tried the Cafe several times - everything in the Cafe is made from scratch - the quality and variety of the food is wonderful.  On one stop we had some special pancakes (light and fluffy) with lemon and marscapone.   On another we had the French Toast which is made from brioche.  And a more traditional breakfast.   We liked the food so much that we asked them about catering an event we were going to have. The catered event had a menu of great variety - we had small filets with poblano chilies and a salad with Jimica and Mango and a lime dressing.  Vicente and his crew are able to create a meal around your desires.   The pricing was very reasonable.   Several of our guests remarked that the guacamole was the best they had ever had.   The dessert (Chocoflan) was rich and tasty. Definitely love at first sight AND bite!  We were warmly greeted when we walked in and told to sit anywhere we'd like.  Our server (an older lady) was friendly and smiled the entire time.  She was the only one working the floor, and the place filled up quickly.  She managed to keep her positive demeanor and get to everyone's orders and requests, whilst having to apologize for longer than expected wait times.  The staff who delivered our food to the table was also very friendly and helpful.  I was very impressed with the presentation of our plates.  Large portions for reasonable prices.  My 3-egg omelet was delicious, and the carmelized onions I chose as one of my veggie options, really amped up the flavor.  The big bowl of fruit (subbed for potatoes and charged extra) was colorful, ripe, and sweet.  My boyfriend got the chorizo burrito special, not only a steal at $8, but huge and tasty. The housemade salsa was really good.  The only thing I didn't care for was the avocado crema, which was pretty bland.  Coffee was a good medium roast.  The pastry case had some enticing desserts, but I decided to save the sweet stuff for our next visit.  Oh, yes, there will definitely be a second bite! STOP.  RUN. DON'T PASS GO!  We found the best breakfast!  A little place on San juan& winding way-- LOVE AT FIRST BITE.   The name says it all.  We have been trying breakfast spots in the area and we hit the best today.  The coffee is a special blend and my one cup only rule went out the window, I had three cups.  I ordered half of biscuits &gravy.  The biscuit was huge (remember I only ordered half). The gravy was filled with sausage (they grind on site), it was hot, fresh and tasty.  This was better than my aunt's family prize gravy (if she could she would slap me silly). My husband got corned beef hash. It was the best, roasted 8 hours, fresh, yummy.  To top it off the toast was amazing ( sounds silly but it's not your average bread) and the peach ginger jelly we had to buy some for my midnight pbj sandwich.  The service was good and the owner has a great philosophy FRESH ONLY.  Can't wait to try their lunch.  I would give LOVE AT FIRST BITE many many more stars if I could.  I was going to add a picture of this amazing food but by the the time I put my fork down to get the camera my husband's corned beef hash was almost gone.
