Avoid, avoid, avoid!

I had an end of tenancy clean the day before the inventory clerk came to check the flat, and I couldn't believe what I saw in the report. One of the three cleaners, one of which I was told was a supervisor, decided to use the toilet and leave it badly soiled with faeces which was documented in the inventory check! I had to apologise to my landlord and say that I would speak to London Cleaning System (LCS) to rectify the issue.

When I highlighted what had happened in an email to LCS, I received a reply back from the company stating that my accusation was "offensive" and that I would need to provide proof. They also attached images of the toilet to the email that the cleaners took, themselves where you can clearly see the soiled toilet under the bubbles! I provided the images from the inventory report and stated that the photos of soiling were consistent with their own photos that they took.

Without receiving an apology for the unprofessionalism, I was then told a cleaner would come back to rectify the issue. I spoke to my landlord to let them know, but was then emailed back by LCS to say that they would instead provide me with a £20 refund rather than fix the issue. I then had to go back to my landlord to inform her that they wouldn't be back to clean, which meant my landlord had to clean the disgusting toilet herself! Luckily I wasn't charged with cleaning fees because my landlord is wonderful and completely understood the issue.

To top it all off, it has been almost a month since the issue was raised with numerous emails from myself trying to get a hold of anyone at LCS as I still have NOT received my £20 refund! Completely unprofessional and do not recommend them to anyone. By the way LCS if you are reading this I have sent you another email today, still waiting for that refund that was promised! I say 'company' as their Companies House record shows they are in the process of being struck off the records.

I enlisted the services of London Cleaning System to clean my one bedroom flat in London as they claimed to have a deposit back guaranteed on their website - LIE #1.

On the day of the clean, which was scheduled for 9am, the cleaners collected the keys some 6 hours later. I was informed by the Operations Manager, on numerous occasions, that they were 'half an hour away' and were stuck in traffic. The job was completed in 90 minutes, far too quick for a supposed 'deep clean' of a one bedroom flat.

During the end of tenancy checkout, it was noted that areas such as the oven had not been cleaned properly and that I was to instruct a re-clean. Additionally, the cleaners had BROKEN the toilet seat in the property and had conveniently disposed of the broken pieces. I hadn't considered a re-clean to be an issue, given the free re-cleans policy on their website and the fact that I was well within the 7 day time period. I also asked for a refund to cover the damages made to the property. The clean was 'arranged' for 2pm one afternoon and the cleaners did not turn up AT ALL. I received a text stating that the keys had been picked up and the cleaners were at the property, this was a complete LIE as they had to pick up the keys from the managing estate agent. I sent numerous emails and made numerous calls with no response and then finally got through to the Operations Manager who assured me that the cleaners were on the way and had been held up in traffic (this was 24 hours later). AGAIN, THEY DIDN'T TURN UP.

Having managed to get through to the owner I was assured that the cleaners would attend first thing Monday morning. On Monday I received an email stating that they would NOT BE RE-CLEANING the property and that they had done a good job first time around. Additionally, they WOULD NOT ACCEPT LIABILITY for the broken toilet seat.

To this day, they have still shown zero interest in putting the situation right and have IGNORED ALL CORRESPONDENCE. I am now faced with a re-clean and am having to pay for a contractor to fix the damaged goods which is COSTING ME HUNDREDS.
