Been to Leicester many times and tried many Indian restaurants this is hands down the best Indian food I've had. Lamb is oh my god amazing. Staff is amazing. Place is clean. I couldn't recommend this place more. More...
Great food but way too pricey. Lovely experience tho
Good restaurant with amazing Indian food, helpful staff and Ambience.
Stumbled into this place by accident and so happy I did. Every mouthful was amazing, but the duck main was the best Indian dish I have ever eaten. Can't recommend this place enough.
Lilu is food heaven and Pratik is food God. He's created an incredible place to spend a special evening and crafted an exceptional array of some of the finest cuisine we've ever been blessed to sample. This place is a gem in Leicestershire's culinary crown. More...
Absolutely stunning. The only problem is going to other restaurants after the perfect food and service of Lilu. Can't wait until my next visit!
Tried Lilu for the first time yesterday. We weren't sure what to expect from the concept of 'indian meets fine dining', but that is exactly what it is. The restaurant uses the best of local ingredients it can source, and creatively transforms them into anglo-indian gastronomy. The crispy paneer starter was the stand out for me, closely followed by the okra side-dish, but all of the food we had (three courses, plus some sides to try out a few different things) was absolutely divine. Atmosphere was great, very tranquil, and the staff were attentive, helpful, and knowledgeable. Thoroughly enjoyed our evening, and will definitely be returning in the future. Finally, just to add, that although the food is fine dining standard, don't be put off by this label in terms of price, or portion size. The food looks and tastes amazing, the but portions are generous, and present great value for the quality of product they are offering. More...
Just got back from a birthday night out at Lilu with the other half. I cannot recommend this place highly enough and wonder how i haven't heard of it sooner?! Staff were top drawer and nothing was too much trouble. Made us feel like we were having a meal with family. The food is next level too. Been to plenty of indian restaurants, but these dishes are like no other.... and the flavours, WOW!! High praise for an establishment of the highest quality. Thank you all for a great night. More...
Fine Indian Dining - great food and great staffI called the restaurant to make a booking - except my query was for an out of hours booking. As there were 9 of us, the restaurant owner, Pratik, agreed to put on a special private dining event for a Monday lunchtime for us. For this I was very grateful. As it was a working lunch, we only wanted a two course meal. Lilu's delighted us with an 'Indian Banquet Meal'. The ambience of Lilu's is lovely. I had been on one prior occasion for dinner (more on that later), and knew that the venue was clean, cosy, comfortable. The decor is neither kitsch nor uber modern, it is a restaurant styled with modern furniture but with a friendly vibe with wooden floors and subtle wall art.So that main event... The Indian Banquet Meal...Starters came with Paneer Tikka, Chicken Tikka and Lamb Chop. The vegan option was Aloo Tikki Chaat. And for good measure a mandatory samosa.Presented on individual plates, these starters kicked off the afternoon very nicely. My eight guests were just taken away with each. The paneer was smooth to cut and the marinade of tikka had both the light kick and freshness needed to make your mouth wanting more. And you did get more, with the chicken piece. Marinaded the same, the chicken was consumed so quickly by all, the only disappointment being that they couldn't have more - they would have spoiled their dinner. The Lamb chop has a nice crispness and a soft centre, just the contrast needed. Available were also a range of pickles which included mango, onion, mint yoghurt, coriander and a kind of pineapple achchar. Of course these also came with a fresh poppadom! These pickles were awesome, giving the right edges of sweet and spice to the starters and the poppadom. The little details matter, each of us were served a fruit juice of mango and strawberry to accompany. It had that, I wish I could somehow make it look like that at home look. Served in a champagne flute complete with pomegranate seeds. Then came the mains...they served as we needed - in balti dishes so we could share the dishes and not overfill our plates. Mains comprised of Lamb Rogan Josh, Butter Chicken, Kidney Beans Curry and Soya Keema Curry, with naan and rice. There was silence at the table at this point. That moment when the group is so focussed on the food that even conversation takes a side road. It was very difficult for the group to decide which of the Chicken or Lamb dishes gave them their fix. The party I was with were from Mumbai, they are used to eating Indian food. When you hear comments like, 'Oh my God, that chicken was something else' and 'My goodness that is perhaps the best lamb I've had', to 'I've got to stop eating but I can't it's too good', I guess I should be a proud Leicesterian when I prance about all over the place saying how good Leicester food really is.The butter chicken was delicate, just as you need it to be, the taste is in the aroma before it even enters your mouth. And the lamb had the delicate spices lifting the meat onto the pallet. The kidney beans were a favourite with the rice, just a lovely gravy to go with it. The earthy Soya Keema provided a lovely contrast. The staff were incredibly attentive, kind and accommodating. Our guests were suitably relaxed to be able to have the work conversation without feeling at pressure at all.I had once visited the restaurant with my wife for an evening meal where I had rocked up without much of a reservation and they catered for our dietary requirements. This is how gourmet food is approached at Lilu's. They treat you as house guests enquiring about your comfort and trying very hard to ensure your meal with them is as individual as it can be in a restaurant environment. If you go in the evening, make it the only thing you do. We were there 2.5 hours on that occasion. That's a dining experience...!Thank you for a lovely afternoon of food, and thank you for catering so effortlessly. More...
Excellent food and service
Probably one of the best places I've been in a while. Lilu It takes the traditional tastes and makes it into something beautiful. On my visit I had the thali! Definitely was worth it! Great prompt service, so friendly and they offer great suggestions - unlike some restaurants which they just leave you to it. It's also great to see that they also use local produce! Also...please note their chilli cheese red leicester naan is to die for! More...
We visited for a birthday treat and was blown away by the amazing food and very attentive/knowledgable staff. Starters were so good we had more than 1 each, mains were fab and how can you possibly choose between a keema naan (the best ive ever had!) a red Leicester cheese naan and a stilton naan? you can't so you may as well just have one of each! Would highly recommend and can't wait to visit again soon. Thanks for having us! More...

We went here last night for our anniversary meal and oh my goodness, before we'd even got to the main, I realised it was my new favourite restaurant! The menu is refined because they perfect their dishes, that doesn't mean it's any easier to choose from! for our starters, my partner had the kebab which was a seperate pieces of lamb kebab & chicken roasted in the tandoor - the lamb fell apart, we can't work out how you managed to cook it on a skewer because it was so tender and melt in your mouth! I had the Mumbai Chaat and not only did the plate look beautiful, the flavours were too. It's a must try when you go! For those of you who are meat eaters, you may over look this dish - please don't!!! it's magnificent. For mains we both had the chicken and it was cooked to perfection and presented so beautifully again! we also had the paneer tikka masala side, which had great flavours and complimented the main dish really nicely! what can I say about the Naan? other than, get some! it was light, well flavoured & the perfect accompaniment to our dishes! Again must try! The service - the owner is lovely, very personable and friendly and the staff are all very attentive and will make sure you have absolutely all you need! any questions, just ask! We absolutely adore this place and really cannot fault anything about it! ❤️ see you soon Lilu! More...
Amazing food and great service, highly recommended. The tag line ‘not just a curry’ perfectly describes the experience. A great twist on Indian food and thoroughly enjoyable. More...
Delicious food and great service. I would highly recommend Lilu and will definitely be back!
This place is in a league of its own. The food is absolutely fantastic and creative.
Friendly place. Great food and advice. Thanks!!
Great food, great staff, great experience
#morethananindian Such great food everytime we've been, it's not like any indian restaurant we've ever been too. Such clean tasting food but the flavours are popping all over the place and Pratik is always in hand to chat and throw a recommendation in when looking over the menu. Highly recommended.
We had a delicious meal along with wonderful service. The ambience was welcoming and the owner ensured that we had everything we needed. Many thanks for the special sauce to take way and overall unforgettable experience. Highly recommended Family from East Yorkshire. The food was outstanding, not your average Indian! The waiters were very attentive and helped us with our menu choices. The extra tomato soup was delicious- I could have eaten a whole bowl.We will definitely be coming back. More...
I visited this restaurant first time when I was in Leicester two weeks ago. In a cold evening and a good walk from a parking lot we (came with a colleague) found this place! It was well worth it. The owner was very friendly and helpful in wine selection and choosing main dishes. It was fun chatting with him. It was quite remarkable that a Gujarati is running a successful north Indian restaurant. The food was delicious! I highly recommend this place. More...
Fantastic food, good service. Not your typical Indian restaurant!
Good food good service
Great atmosphere and amazing food.
Very good. The food was fantastic. Beautifully cooked and presented. All the staff were friendly and chatty too. It was great to have Indian food that was not the usual "meat in a sauce" with rice! Not the cheapest, but definitely worth the extra and definitely deserves their good reviews. More...
Amazing food, and the service was the same! Thank you Lilu
Seriously wow!! Came for a Christmas dinner with the girls and the food was just incredible!! Their take on a Christmas dinner was so tasty, I've never had turkey so tender and so full of flavour! Starter of due of lamb was lovely and the in between dishes of a small tomatoes soup and amuse-bouche was a really lovely touch! Small and intimate venue so definitely book ahead, great atmosphere and the service was brilliant. 100% will return again More...
Four of us yesterday evening and none of us were disappointed. The excellent service was complemented by fantastic food. Visit to avoid missing a real treat. More...
Fabulous food with excellent service.
Very happy with the service very nice food.
Small restaurant serving north Indian Gujerati food in a fine dining style. Excellent service with attentive and friendly owner/ manager. Very good food with restauranty touches like amuse-bouches and extra courses. Expect to pay about 50 pounds a head including (alcoholic) drinks and tips. Vegetarian options but not all meat is Halal. Strongly recommended. More...
Highly recommended. If you haven’t been then definitely go. Great food and service
5 star food and service. Can't rate this place highly enough. Never had Indian food as good anywhere. Went on what we thought would be a quite Tuesday, early doors. To be told they were fully booked, thankfully they managed to fit us in. Amazing. And this from a Mancunian, even if its not local I would make a detour to this little gem. Though book ahead to avoid disappointment. More...
Best Indian food in the Midlands.
Trip from southampton on business and very nice find
Lovely place, nice food & friendly start- will go again
The food and service here is flawless. You must visit
Excellent customer service with top quality food catered & managed a large party of us!
Amazing food, excellent service, best way I would describe it is Indian Fine Dining but with a twist! Definitely recommended.
The food was really delicious and the ambiance was good too, all the staff were very friendly and welcoming. I'd definitely go here again.
Fantastic service with the friendliest staff I've ever had the pleasure of being in the company of....staying well after closing time to accommodate us until we were ready to leave. 5/5 would and will recommend to everyone expecting to visit Leicester. More...
Really nice food, would definitely recommend going
We had tried the new dish the Thali-lu and were met with beyond expectations for the food! It was absolutely delicious we had the choice of the the vegetarian or the non vegetarian to choose from. The amount of food given was amazing 12 small dishes and and trying them all we were stuffed! The atomosphere and the decor of the place added to the ambience. The staff couldn’t do enough and were an amazing team! Can’t wait to go back and try the new menu! More...
Always amazing service right from booking through to paying the bill. Absolutely love the mid-course sample meals!
This without question the best Indian fine dining experience in Leicester. Very different from your traditional curry house of which there many excellent choices in Leicester. This is about an experience in a small select establishment where booking is a must and the food is excellent. The hosting by Pratik, Bee or Shannon is always first class both friendly and knowledgable, JP the chef sets high standards with his food.... you may wonder why I know the names of the staff, it’s because I have been numerous times and they introduce themselves. The food is culinary twist taking Indian dining to the next level, wonderful starters such as paneer two ways, salmon, and the signature soft shell crab. Mains include a rack of lamb, biryanis, a fish of the day that is always delicious. It’s not a cheap curry house but it is a great dining experience- book and enjoy! More...
Excellent as always - exceptional food and service- took our 2 friends after raving about the restaurant for ages and they are big fans now as well!

A fine dining food experience that you must try if you are in Leicester. Don't expect just a curry, expect far more!
It had wonderful food and staff were kind and the atmosphere were just fabulous!
Fantastic food. Went with friends for a birthday.
no words perfect
Superb food. Excellent service.
Alternative India Cuisine beautifully cooked and presented
Extraordinary food, just the best.
Great service, brilliant food and wonderful experience. The staff really looked after us, especially as my wife has a couple of allergy issues. We a has a brilliant anniversary experience. Definitely recommend More...
Great food, even better staff. Easily our favourite restaurant in the city.
This is not your ordinary High Street Indian restaurant. if you're after a simple curry, this is not for you. Quite simply, Lilu is a cut above all those other places and their tagline of #notjustacurry is spot on.
All of the staff are warm, welcoming and helpful. The decor has been changed in the last year and the ambience matches the quality of the food. The restaurant oozes class, and is a unique offering in Leicester.
Being a bit of a foodie from London, I'm so pleased to have discovered Lilu - in short, the best Indian restaurant in Leicester. More...
We went there for a family meal (5 adults and 2 kids) and the service was second to none. The team took the time to explain the menu options to us rather than simply handing us a menu and leaving us to decipher it - just one of the many examples of the amazing service we received!
Being vegetarian, most of the group opted for a paneer starter and we weren’t disappointed! Also highly recommend the stuffed pepper and cassava main course!
Personally I was too full for dessert but some of the others had the chocolate ganache and it certainly looked impressively unique!
Overall, if you’re after an evening of fine dining, 5* service and great ambience head over to Lilu! More...
Good presentation. Good not worth the price. Would not done there again

Expect exceptional food and a very warm welcome from Pratik and his wife at Lilu. Incredible food... Would highly recommend everything on the menu! Chef's Paneer and Rack of Lamb are something quite special.
Excited to go again and sample their new concept sharing menu in the Spring.
We absolutely an evening at Lilu - #DateNightatLilu #NightOutWithFriendsatLilu More...
My wife and I think this is not just one of the best restaurants in Leicester, it is one if the best full stop. I can't recommend this place highly enough - the food is AMAZING, the staff are absolutely lovely and it's an incredible dining experience. We only come up to Leicester for one evening per year, but when we do, there is never any doubt it's Lilu we go to! More...
Unique with great food. Pratik is a gentleman and a lovely host. The chefs clearly take pride in what they deliver and aren't afraid to provide something not on the menu.
The best Indian fine dining experience in Leicester by far. We had the soft shell crab, lamb chops and seabass. Looking forward to trying some new dishes soon!
Very good! Well presented and delicious food. They are trying very hard to offer fine dining. That said, Seemed like dessert took forever to come. I think the kitchen were backed up with take away orders. It seemed odd to me that somewhere serving this level of quality even offered take away, as you couldn't enjoy this type of food from a disposable container! More importantly the take aways were delaying food for the diners in the restaurant. Otherwise fantastic and would go back. More...
Lovely place. Was warm and cosy. We had the Mumbai chaat , sea bass and okra. Very flavoursome. The owner was very friendly and made a concerted effort to have a conversation with all the guests.
Excellent food and service
Amazing restaurant with a warm and friendly atmosphere. The food is delicious! My personal favourite is the Pindi Lamb Rogan Josh, the lamb litetally melts in your mouth. Definately worth a visit.
2nd visit this week. Great food, great service. Tried the new butter chicken sauce, the chicken will be lucky to cooked in this sauce.
Really enjoyed the food
Excellent food, reasonable price for the quality and really friendly staff. Def recommend!
Excellent food, even better service with a relaxing and real atmosphere. Recommended to all.
Best couple's dinner venue in Leicester! the food is fantastic, the atmosphere is intimate, and aside from the small size (which I personally don't mind) this place is awesome
Incredible service and very very tasty food
Great food, great service. Be back soon
Firstly I have to say that the staff are very warm and welcoming. They know all about the food and are happy to answer any questions or queries that you may have. Secondly, the food is delicious and fantastically presented. I especially found the butter chicken tender and juicy. Last but not least, the over all fine dining experience is one that I will never forget. More...
I was surprised to see Lilu had any negative scores, until I realised they were all from before this place was taken over by the current owner.
The place is exceptional. If you're looking for a curry house (those no frills £20 for curry and a beer) I'd look elsewhere. I take my partner here for romantic evenings, and the two of us have shared many special occasions. For me this is Leicester's best fine dining experience. You need to try it to understand how truly outstanding this place is! More...
Absolutely stunning fine dining Indian food.
We visited this place having heard good things and it absolutely lived up to expectations. The food was simply delicious. It was presented immaculately and tasted divine. The service was also brilliant. It's a family run restaurant and it really comes across as they are very attentive and super friendly.
I can't wait to go back here and try all the other dishes. More...
Tom Van Assche
Delicious Indian food. They have a 2 or three course menu. 28 or 35 pounds. And it is well worth it.
Beautifully plated Indian food. Combination of flavours and textures are superb. The staff are always very welcoming.
Always lovely food and staff always friendly and attentive
Upscale indian food, quite expensive but a different experience
Perfect place to impress the Mrs with an intimate, tasty meal! Bring your own wallets though... The price is well justified, however.
Good service. Good food. Nice ambience. It's a 2 or 3 course meal. Quite highly priced.
Great service and lovely food. Definitely recommend coming here to anyone. Food presented beautifully and all round wonderful evening.
Good, tasty Indian food. There are no shortage of curry houses in Leicester but Lilu are trying to be different by doing Indian food "fine dining" style. It's working; the food was great, beautifully presented and service was great too. Food was excellent. Only downside is that it's a bit small so if you go when it's busy you may not get a table if you haven't pre-booked More...
Fantastic food and very good service.
We went for a significant birthday and were treated like royalty. Even the chef came out for a chat when we sent our "compliments to the chef" the starter of crab was sensational and my main dish of lamb was the nicest I have had in years. It was a unique dining experience and the best meal I have ever had in the city of leicester. More...
Checked a review on here and for the first time i have seen it really luves up to expectation - i am vegetarian and there veg selection was fanatstic especially the daal makhani
This is one of my most favourite places in Leicester. Some of the most original and creative dishes in town, with great service. It's a local business, not a chain, and the owners are really friendly. More...
Food is beautifully presented and tastes divine. Lilu will not disappoint.
Great Indian restaurant with a twist. A good range of dishes (the mango paneer starter is one of my favourites ) and the staff are extremely helpful and friendly. Highly recommended to all!
A very cozy restaurant. Although we chose to not order starters we were provided with 2 pre-appetizers at the cost of the restaurant. The flavors of the particular appetizers were surprisingly unknown, even if you're already familiar with Indian cuisine. So it was nice to have something different. The main course was absolutely delicious and the service extremely friendly and interested. More...
Good Indian food and a great atmosphere. Definetely a must if your in Leicester
Good Indian restaurant. Best Daal Makhani in Leicester. The restaurant is some what small and I have struggled to get a table, which is a shame. Prefer the mains over the starters, as it did come out very cold once. More...
Totally excellent. Best Indian restaurant in Leicester without a shadow of a doubt. The N'golo Kante themed lamb dish is particularly recommended.
Top place with all the friendliest staff. Definitely worth a visit.
We visited this restaurant as a group of four and couldn't have been happier with the experience we had. The food was delicious and the service was second to none. I can't wait to return for another visit. More...
Great food, very helpful management. Restaurant was a bit pokey and cold!
