I have been a qualified secondary school teacher since 2004, teaching History and English up to A-Level. I have been tutoring for about 5 years and started my small business in 2016.
I tutor across all exam boards and predominantly focus on GCSE and A-level, although I do have students in Key Stage 3 too.

We decided to home educate our son in year 4, the year of his GCSEs. He had never studied History before but always had a great interest in it. We approached Kathryn about seeing if she could teach him history to scrape a C in his GCSEs in the coming 9 months. We bought the 3 large Text books and when Katheryn arrived we all agreed this would be a real challenge in just 2/3rd of a year to the exam. Kathryn always arrived with a very up beat attitude and great sense of humour and on top of teaching the text line by line, my son and Kathryn had great discussions about life and the Universe (not to mention Game of Thrones and Trump!). What do you love most about your job?
I love seeing students grow in their understanding of History or English and seeing that the work we compelte together has really helped.
What inspired you to start your own business?
Having small children made me very aware that teaching in the traditional school and being a successful parent was not a match that would work for me. I love teaching so found private tutoring a good way to continue doing it.
