After four frustrating years of trying to sort damp in a ground floor party wall in our home (over 100 years old), we approached five different firms of surveyors with expertise in older buildings and with party walls, and chose Kevin Feakins of Kingston Morehen in Eastbourne because:- he took time over the phone to fully understand the situation we were in; - he asked by far the most questions, and the most searching questions; - he seemed very knowledgeable and experienced;- he asked for copies of any existing surveys; and offered to do desktop research (without charge);- he said he would let us know if he thought he could help us; - he gave us at each stage a clear idea of timescales (when he would be able to do the desk research, and the lead time for visiting if he was going to visit). He gave us a reasonable quote and visited speedily once we had agreed it. He spent 2.5 hours exploring the problem more thoroughly and in more detail than anyone else had ever done, very clearly summarised the issue, and proposed a range of solutions - one of which we have adopted. He was very pleasant, very efficient and we are now sorting our damp at long last! We would very highly recommend him and his firm. More...
