Marina contacted me at 4 o'clock on a Friday evening asking me to put up an emergency scaffold at the front of her property that night. i quoted her £900 for 16ft x 35ft tower on a public highway and to erect it out off hours, i explained to her that i would not deal with licensing for the scaffold but if she would like me to i could. Monday after noon i was called by the council man who was with her at the property, he explained that he would like some extra work done to the scaffold that would meet his council requirements, i explained this to marina that this is classed as an adaption, at this point the council man had to but in and explain to marina that every council has different regulations for scaffold on the high way and this was obviously not my fault, the works required to be carried out were some extra double boarding at bottom off scaffold , lights added and a protection fan, i charged marina accordingly, i also explained to her that she may keep the scaffold for as long as possible, marina explained that this was not the case and asked for it to be taken down the following Thursday , we come to dismantle the scaffold Thursday at 2 pm and the builder had not finished we left and come back the next day expecting the scaffold to be cleared and ready for dismantlement but again not the case, we rearranged the following week and again the scaffold was still not ready as marina had now asked the builder to do some external re pointing to brick work and now pain the windows . 3 men 3 times turned up in crystal palace to remove scaffold after being told its ready . 3 hours each at £15 hour = £45 x 3 = £135 x 3 = £450 total im out off pocket not including the day we actually struck the scaffold I work diligently, to the hour , to the £ and make sure each customers needs are met and in this case , you cant make every one happy no matter how hard you try to help some one
