What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
Lighting, composition, flow, balance, contrast, subject and feel all make up a good photograph.
Not all are needed all the time but followIng these guidelines drastIcally improves your chances of walkIng away wIth a great photograph.
I always aim to check all these box's but more importantly I believe capturIng real emotions and special moments are what make a photograph beautiful to people.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
If I am shooting a wedding or famIly event I always like to take the time to get to know the people I am photographIng first I ask about how they met, their story, and their future. This allows me to buIld a rapport with the subject and puts them at ease In front of the camera. It also allows me to tell their story In a more meaningful way.
If I am shootIng commercially for example a client who runs a clothIng brand I will always ask to see examples of other brands that they like. This gives me a very clear Image of what the client is lookIng for and the directIon they want to go.
I like to keep a constant communication going when shooting commercially to achieve exactly what the client wants, this involves doing test shoots to get a rough idea of what the end product will look like and provides an opportunity to fine tune things and iron out any creases.
What do you love most about your job?
I could never hold down a job when I was younger. I normally lasted no more than a year in the jobs I was working to support myself whIlst in university.
Working for myself seems to be the only thing I can enjoy. It allows me to set my own working hours, I am passionate about the work I am doing and genuinely wake up feeling excIted to do what I do.
Most of all it is something I have build up myself and that is something I am very proud of.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I wanted to be able to do something I enjoyed and that I felt passionate about doing.
Photography was always a hobby of mine from early chIldhood, It only took me 20 years to figure out I could do it as a profession.
Why should our clients choose you?
I put my heart and soul in to everything I do for my work.
My clients are extremely important to me and I am not satisfied unless they are.
I have spent years learnIng and perfecting my photography and hold a degree in the art.
I have a natural affinity wIth people and can put even the most camera shy subject at ease.
