Q&As

Making the model comfortable! Being a personable photographer is extremely important and a huge aspect of being a professional. There are many technically talented photographers out there that have no people skills! Unless you're a seasoned pro model, chances are being in front of a camera lens is not a comfortable experience for you. If the photographer can't put the client at ease, it's going to dampen the final image quality, no matter how sharp the photos turn out.

I ask them what their end result is. Most clients have an idea of how they want the final images to look - that's all that I need to get started. The when, where, what and how are my business - unless you have specific ideas in mind, you don't have to stress about how to get the shots - that's my job. Many clients get mentally stuck trying to hammer out the how-to's because they've never shot with a real professional. True photographers are experts at picking out wardrobes, locations, and poses, and I can always figure that out for you if you're unsure yourself. If you're shelling out cash for a pro, you're paying for a shoot director and not just a shutterbug - anyone can take a photo, but prepping, dressing, posing, and lighting a shoot correctly (while dealing with unforseen circumstances) is absolutely a required skillset for a pro and takes years to learn.

I love when my clients love their photos. It can be an amazing surprise to have someone with an eye for photography pose and light you to look your absolute best. I've had some customers treasure the images they've received, and a great photo of yourself will last a lifetime.

I first picked up a DSLR for a one-off job six years ago, and ended up keeping it. Since then I've done hundreds of shoots, from couples portraits and outdoor weddings, to green-screen studio work with models and local sports car clubs. I've spent the years continually refining my style and retouching skills in Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom, as well as building my gear collection.

I'm in love with the entire process of photography, not just snapping a photo. In the digital age, anyone can take a selfie. I am completely involved in all aspects of the shoot, from picking out a proper location, deciding the smallest wardrobe details, designing the proper lighting scheme based on facial features and background, choosing flattering poses, putting the client at ease in front of the camera, retouching the photos to perfection, and presenting the photos properly. A professional is a package deal, don't pay someone who's just there to press a button.
