John has always had an incredible talent for capturing images in the moment, and that itself tells the story.

Q&As

This is a fun question because there isn't really a secret to taking a great photograph. The secret is WHEN to take it. Great photographs tell a story and capture emotion. When you look at a photograph and it stirs emotion, makes you smile or cry, this is a great photograph. A photograph that is a representation of what happened that day or what people looked like that day may tell a story but the great photograph will evoke emotion.

I love getting to know my clients before the project starts. Because I am capturing who they are and telling their story I need to know who they are and what their story is. Depending on the type of project, some questions might be:(Portrait) If today was a new chapter in your book, what would the bold print be? What are you passionate about?(Wedding) What first attracted you two to each other? What is the one thing about the other, you could not live without? (Headshot) What is the element of your job that keeps you going each day?

These may be just starters for the session.

There are so many aspects to being a photographer. Since the age of five I have been taking and printing images. It is my passion, who I am and how I see the world. I get to travel, be creative, photograph things most people only read about or see on TV like IndyCar racing, NFL football, movie sets, underwater caves once occupied by the Mayans just to name a few. The thing I love most is the people I have met over the last 30 years of my career. People who have become friends, mentors, colleagues as well as clients. It's all about the people for me.

When I was young I didn't know who to work for so I was a freelance photographer for marketing companies, corporations and individuals. I got a lead that Lucasfilm was looking for someone so I landed the job there. After many years the company was sold to Disney and they of course reduced the size of the company. It was then that I chose to go back to my first love and open my company up again. I opened my studio on Santa Rosa Ave at Todd Rd and have never been happier. Again it is all about the people.

The short answer is because you feel a connection. Just about everyone has a camera today and can take a picture, a snapshot and that's great, Facebook and Instagram are for of those pictures. You hire me because you want something deeper, more substantial and emotional. You want your story told. Whether you are looking for a portrait, headshot or wedding photography you want more that just a visual representation of what you looked like that day. You want the "real" smile, the "real" tears and the "real" feelings to be captured and preserved. On a qualifications level, I am a Certified Professional Photographer, (CPP) certified by the Professional Photographers of America, (PPA) the oldest photographic organization in the world. http://www.ppa.com/cpp/content.cfm?ItemNumber=4255
