I've had lessons in other instruments from very good teachers that had amazing musical pedigrees (professional long serving RAF musician, and in another case someone who'd played for the royal philarmonic) Jim is as good, or better - a fantastic guitar player who has a great musical ear and teaches musicality as well as the mechanics of the instrument. Thank you very much!
I have found Jim to be very good and patient with me ,and I am enjoying my new hobby . Jim keeps each lesson interesting and answers all my questions and is always encouraging with tips, and finds answers to any issue with playing the guitar I am having , and I will recommend him to anyone I know with out hesitation.
For years Jim has taught me every technique, theory and style that I wanted to pursue and more. Between his extensive knowledge, casual persona and flawless teaching style I can't recommend a finer teacher. Whether you're a beginner or an expert Jim will be able to teach you whatever it is you're searching for. More...
Jim's lessons are always a great pleasure. He is a brilliant player and has a deep understanding of music and yet his teaching style is so patient and supportive that you can learn at your own pace. I started from scratch with him and now play in front of others and am starting to write my own. He is always willing to adapt his lessons to answer your questions or to help you to understand how to achieve a certain result. Jim has been a huge influence on helping me to appreciate music and understand how it works. I recommend that you try him. You won't be disappointed. More...
Over the last few years Jim has taught me to not only play the guitar but also understand the music and theory that supports it. Having no musical training at all at the first lesson, Jim has been patient and supportive, always willing to vary the lesson plan and approach but introducing new ideas and reinforcing technique throughout. His friendly and approachable style make lessons fun and something to look forward to after a long week! More...
Great guitar teacher, I really enjoyed my lessons.
Jim is a hardworking talented conscientious teacher who not only taught me guitar, but also incited my passion for music and song writing itself. He is very open to which road you want to go down as a guitar player, whether it being a laid back approach or grades, and will push you in the right way to achieve your maximum potential. He's very easy going and is incredibly open to what you, yourself, want to get out of your playing. More...
Very good teacher. Taught me for several years and is always encouraging and able to teach you anything you are interested in.
Jim is a great teacher, keeps you motivated and enhances your technique with some laughs along the way. A great person to play with!
Jim is truly the greatest teacher I have ever had the privilege to learn from, he is extremely enthusiastic and fun with a passion for his music that knows no bounds. Jim started out teaching me the Bass many years back and I went from being a complete beginner to being able to play songs that I wanted to learn within a matter of weeks. In fact Jim was so good I signed on to learn guitar with him as well, its several years on and I am still playing both and loving every second because of the passion Jim has instilled in me. This is a guy that LOVES his music and knows his stuff but is also willing to take on your ideas and hear what you want to learn. If you're looking for a guitar teacher look no further, Jim's the man for the job. More...
Brilliant teacher, covering all aspects
Jim is a patient and knowledgable teacher. I've always been able to ask his advice and he’s helped to improve my playing technique, sight reading and musical theory greatly over the years.Highly recommended!
Jim has helped to improve my playing immensely, he's patient and is always willing to answer my obscure questions in my quest to unpick music theory.
I have been taught guitar by Jim for around 5 years and he has taken me to a point where I am happy to play before an audience with some confidence.Jim is clearly a very accomplished musician/composer but also has the ability to teach and inspire. He is very patient and flexible, ready to vary the lesson content according to my wishes/requirements. Most importantly I look forward to the lessons and genuinely enjoy playing. It has become an essential part of my life.Steven More...

Started playing in a band with Jim many years ago and my ability has improved 100% since. Not only is he a fantastic teacher but his ability and influence is second to none. I know many guitar teachers and would not even consider using them as long as Jim is teaching. More...
Jim brought my playing from barely ok to the point that I would feel comfortable tackling any song I desire to play. He inspired me to take my practice very seriously and in a short amount of time I could notice the difference in technique and confidence in my own playing. I even learnt bass, with Jim's encouragement and am proud to play along side him in our own band! In short Jim is a superb teacher, a great guy and with your own motivation, will get you where you want to be with your own playing. More...
Jim taught me and is teaching my kids. He has a wide knowledge of music and I would thoroughly recommend him to anyone looking to start or to improve.
Jim is a great teacher, very patient, and I enjoy and appreciate the cool stuff we play each time. I would unreservedly recommend him for any level of guitarist, from a beginner through to Angus Young.
Jim is an amazing teacher and all around fantastic guy. I went to him many years back to start learning the bass, he got me so into playing music that I soon took up the guitar with him as well! He has such a good teaching style and tailors the lessons around you and what you want this is the man for anything from the basics to an epic jamming session. No matter what your ability, Jim is your man! Look no further! More...
Very good teacher, had him for several years and he was able to teach me anything I was interested in.
Man, I've had lessons with some of the best - Gilbert, Gilmour, Han Valen, but none better than Jim Guitar. Seriously, a great teacher - understands, from the ground up, exactly what a student needs & requires to improve and get where they need to be at, from basic introductory chords, to technical scale improvisations. Spoke to me about modes and Phrygians once. Thought it was a funky restaurant. But, because of this man my playing improved ten fold. Totally recommended. More...
I really enjoyed my lessons with Jim! I told him I wanted to learn to improvise lead guitar, he started me off with some basic but cool guitar riffs to get me acquainted with the minor pentatonic scale. I was super happy with the results and really enjoy my guitar playing. Far more personalised lessons then the ones I had at school. Apart from being a great and patient teacher, Jim's a good guy, really easy to get along with and I can't recommend him any more! More...
