Jenny Hersey Counselling locationBristol, bristol

My name is Jenny.

I am an integrative counsellor primarily using the humanistic approach whilst drawing on other approaches such as Transactional Analysis. I am an approachable, compassionate therapist who's aim is to provide a safe, secure environment for my clients. I draw from a wide range of counselling knowledge and skills. ( psychodynamic, cognitive behaviour therapy and person centred therapy ) This enables me to offer diverse counselling sessions to fully meet the needs of a person.
My counselling approach focuses on the here and now and also links in with the past and past experiences. The sessions are client led and the client has full autonomy over what they want to talk about. This approach works towards self development and also identifies any patters of behaviour or obstacles that are stopping the client from moving forward.

I am on the counselling directory and a link to my profile is below

I am on the Psychology today website and I also have my own website www. jherseycounselling.co.uk

I work from my home which is located in the Whitchurch area of Bristol and I offer home visits. I am also available for telephone counselling.

Jenny Hersey Counselling Q&A

Jenny Hersey Counselling Q&A

What do you love most about your job?

I started my counselling training in 2013 and have been actively working as a counsellor since 2015 after doing some basic training and falling in love with it.
The thing I love about my job is being able to help people. I fully believe that the key to therapy is the client/ counsellor relationship and once trust is built people can start to explore themselves in the knowledge that there is no judgement and they can be who they truly are in that moment. I myself have had counselling in the past so have been the client and can empathise with how hard it can be to talk without fear of judgement.

What inspired you to start your own business?

By working for myself I can be more flexible to my clients needs. Life is busy and people work and have families or other commitments and finding the time for counselling can be difficult. I am able to offer counselling in my home and am available for home visits

Why should our clients choose you?

I am an empathetic, non-judgemental counsellor and I have worked with a diverse range of people. This gives me the experience needed to work with a wide range of issues that people may face. I am as flexible as I can be and will try my best to accommodate my client so they feel happy and safe. I have worked in mental health for 15 years and with trauma clients for 5 years and currently work for a bereavement charity. I am an accredited member of The Foundation for Infant Loss.
I have also worked for the NHS, Rethink, Milestones Trust, The Victim Support service, Unseen and in a secondary school.
As well as working for myself I also work for children's services. This job requires me to work with families struggling with lots of different issues.
