Jeff Turnbull Photography

Jeff photographed our wedding day on Tuesday and we were so impressed! Jeff is so kind and really worked hard to get the best photos possible, you can tell he is really passionate about photography. Jeff was so friendly in dealing with queries we had before the wedding, and on the day itself he helped to make my new husband feel very comfortable and at ease with the photos being taken, as normally he isn’t too comfortable at having his photo taken. We have had many of our guests saying to us that Jeff was a brilliant photographer and very organised too! We are so impressed with the variety of photos that Jeff took, from the moment of arrival at the Town Hall to throughout the day, we love that Jeff captured every moment as these photos will remind us of the precious memories of the day x we can’t wait to see the photos in a few weeks! I have just been on the two day introduction to digital photography course and it was well worth the money. Jeff is extremely passionate about what he does and I have learnt so much in the two days. I would say that I was able to use some of the functions on my Canon EOS 600D including some of the AV/TV functions as well as the program function, however this was due to just playing around with the camera. What we leant though was when to use these functions. The one thing I could never do before is go fully manual, however thanks to now understanding Aperture, shutter priority and ISO by the end of day two I was shooting nearly everything in manual mode. Within minutes of day one I had learnt what a button I could not use before hand did! Nevertheless that is not the end, it is all well being able to use my camera fully now, but what Jeff also taught us was composition. Never did I believe that I would be now going around and thinking about the rule of thirds, diagonal shots, odd numbers, framing and leading lines. Finally at the end of the two days Jeff showed us how to look at post production and exposure. This course has really opened my eyes to the world of good photography and I really look forward to travelling around Europe now knowing that I can fully use my DSLR camera. Thank you Jeff. More...

Relaxed, friendly and supportive learning environment. Just the right mix of 'teaching' and hands-on practice. I had barely turned my camera on when I arrived on day 1 - by the end of day 2 I was taking fully manual shots that I was really proud of. Highly recommended for beginners.

I went to West Mersea to get some experience and understand a bit more about what makes a good stand out picture.Jeff is very approachable and has a wealth of knowledge and explains clearly what is needed. Was a shame the weather put a grey cloud on the day and expose the pictures more.Will definitely be looking at his other courses and Essex Walks.Maybe a dusk/night course would be good. More...

Fantastic, honest, creative, highly recommended!I have attended some of Jeff's photography workshops and every time I am shocked by his knowledge, honesty, and creativeness. I first met Jeff when i attended his wedding photography workshop back in 2009. I then entered his 6 month business mentoring program to help me launch my photography business. Anyone who is thinking about hiring Jeff, or booking onto one of his courses should do so with out any doubt. Jeff knows his stuff, is an amazing photographer, and as a mentor or trainer you will struggle to find anyone better. My wife and I chose Jeff Turnbull to be the photographer at our wedding. Choosing a wedding photographer is never an easy thing to do, or something we took lightly, after all the photos are one of the few things that remain from your special day. We liked Jeff from the start, there was just something about the images on his website that intrigued us, that x-factor. After consider many, many<span id="moreReview66451" class="hide"> other photographers we chose Jeff after we met him, he is really really great guy, someone you instantly feel at ease with. The photos he took were exceptional; a blend of traditional photos and some really great artistic shots. He truly captured the moments, feelings and memories of that day. My wedding was at a location in the desert outside Marrakech, in Morocco which had no electricity; only fires and candlelight, which therefore required a photographer who could master such a situation. <br /><br />Jeff certainly fitted the bill. The best thing about Jeff was that he quickly understood the style of photography we wanted: Natural, unusual, spontaneous and capturing the beauty of the<span id="moreReview25980" class="hide"> desert and surroundings as well as all the people present, a world away from the traditional style of wedding photography. <br /><br />I warned Jeff that he'd be sleeping in the desert, we'd arrive at the ceremony on camelback at sunset and half the guests spoke only Arabic. Oh - and the location had no electricity. But Jeff was undeterred.<br /><br />Jeff mentioned that flash would not be suitable for the style of photography and instead he brought with him a special lighting system with him which cast soft light that was just strong enough to take pictures without ruining the candlelit atmosphere. Jeff was always in the right place at the right time, even ensuring we got specific shots that we wanted, for example, the camels in silhouette at sunset. <br /><br />As for the finished photographs? They are absolutely dazzling. Each image different and more creative than the one before. He really captured the most of the location, surroundings and the atmospheric situation, and caught all the right moments and expressions. Everyone who has seen the photographs has said we have the best wedding pictures they have ever seen. <br />If you want your wedding photos to be different, then I can't recommend Jeff high enough.</span> More...
