Ivan called by phone & offered to work the next day. He arrived & spoke to us, we gave a full outline of current needs & some 1-off jobs.
He insisted that he quoted by job & not hourly rate.
He then went to his truck (as much to our surprise he said he start the work straight away) & a colleague we had not known was present appeared.
Bearing that in mind we went around the garden & divided jobs up.
The initial job was to trim hedges & some trees & around our pond& to cut back & dig out all brambles & to pull up & take out bindweed that was accessible & to cut back & clear the area around the green shed & in front of the greenhouse.

This job quoted was £210.

He & his colleague spent just under 2 hours trimming & cutting & pulling up & gathered most of the cuttings & took them away
They then said ‘we are going now’ & would be back the next day or/and the following Thursday to complete the task.
He handed over his colleagues bank card & asked for payment.
He was paid £100
Ivan did not turn up on the following day, or the following Thursday.
The work was not completed.
We received emails asking for another £110 from the colleague (shane smith) who was with Ivan.
He asked for another payment ‘Hi Mate can you pay ‘ this was without completing the work.
Shane Smith was paid on the understanding that they both would come back & complete the job.
They have not returned (it has been a month), they have taken our money & in effect have charged-us £55 an hour.
A few calls were made to Ivan.

1. A message was left & no reply was forthcoming
2. A call was made & he said he was busy & would return the call - he never did
3. Our son made a call - no response
4. Finally he did speak & he said that he believed that they had done everything agreed for the sum £210 - 4 man hours work. We said that they had not & we were expecting all the brambles to be dealt with
& expecting all the work around the shed & greenhouse to be done - it had not been touched !
Ivan disagreed, but said he may consider doing the work ‘free of charge’

Elderly & vulnerable people do have to be very careful when using ‘bark’ as an interface between client & provider. Ivan does have many good testimonials which we relied upon, he is personable & therefore we did not think there would be issues.

Follow on from previous review, he has stopped responding despite promising to fix his mess he left the day after with a false story of his daughter being ill AVOID unless you want to be ripped off he is not a decent guy in any way shocking that he feels it’s ok to take peoples hard earned money and not finish the jobs. He originally came and gave me a quote for cutting a hedge and when I accepted he started straight away as he had a few hours spare.
However I did pay him and he was just finishing and said his chainsaw had broken and would come back today to finish the job
He also promised to message with a quote for further work
He has done neither, has not replied to my message or called to explain why he couldn’t finish today so I currently have a huge chunk out of my hedge which he clearly is not going to finish so I would steer clear of this guy
The clearing up also wasn’t brilliant and I had to go out after and finish off the clearing up
It’s a shame as he seemed a genuine guy, clearly he is not and I have been scammed

Ivan was fantastic. He has sorted several items I needed completing.

He came yesterday to look around and gave me a price for the job.
Booked next day at 10am which is today.
He did not show up, I called him after 1 hour. He answered the phone and when I said I was waiting for him he simple turn the phone off. Didn’t even say sorry or any excuse.
I never saw this in my life.

We were looking for a quote for our Very overgrown hedge, and small tree to be cut and then to be disposed off.
Ivan called arrange a time to come and quote, He arrived on time. We were happy with the Quote he then asked if they could do the work there and then.
We were more than happy for the work to be done. To which it’s been completed to a high standard garden left clean and tidy. Hedge and tree looked very good.
