I graduated from LCF studying men's bespoke tailoring and have worked on savile row for Maurice Sedwell. I have been doing the 20 day course with Imtaz and learning so much more then I could ever have imagined - learning so much in such a short period of time. I came here to learn pattern cutting and womenswear couture. I have already finished a dinner jacket and have made a number of patterns for my new collection combining womenswear and menswear. I was lucky enough to have a one day class with Imtaz on Monday. Imtaz really knows her stuff. She understands pattern making inside and out and importantly, can communicate this at the level needed. She has a lovely manner-I think she she must be a fine woman, inside and out.
I was so pleased to have the chance to snoop inside several of her creations. Wonderful haute couture standard of making-I think a jacket from her would fit beautifully and feel luxurious indeed.

I am studying finance in Imperial and previously had no knowledge in sewing and pattern-making at all. Imtaz is very good at teaching me in a fun way. I spent 5 days with Imtaz, where we drafted pattern pieces and made a toile of the 1975 YSL 'Le Smoking' double-breasted jacket. Working one-to-one with Imtaz has been more fulfilling and holistic than learning in a classroom, and has helped further my understanding in the construction and shaping of a suit, she has also given me greater insight into the industry of bespoke tailoring and fashion. I recently went on the four hours course, not knowing what to expect in the short amount of time. My background is fashion and I wanted to setup my own business. Seeing how much experience and tailoring background Imtaz has, the course appealed to me to take the leap.
Imtaz has a wealth of knowledge which most people who have it don’t share their. She is transparent and genuine in helping me to make my vision a reality. This has been such a good money and time invested, as it’s for my future.

I have just completed a 20 day course with Imtaz where I learnt the art of pattern cutting, fitting and then sewing the complete garments. I made the following: a tailored skirt, dress and softly tailored jacket. I also went away with a trouser pattern and top patterns, pluss plenty of ideas for garments to flatter my figure, this in itself was a revelation for me and I now feel a lot more confident about choosing and creating garments. I was lucky enough to find a local B&B which was perfect, Imtaz also introduced me to the local yoga centre where I had a try at the art of meditation. Well home again in Norway I can only say how much I thoroughly enjoyed this whole indulgent experience. Thankyou Imtaz.

I have always been passionate about sewing and actually wanted to pursue a career in dressmaking. As these things happen, my life took a completely different path (Tax accountant) but my passion for sewing never waned. After buying quite a lot of books and trying a few courses I found out about Imtaz's bespoke tailoring classes. It sounded like just what I needed but admittedly, I didn't know what to expect. I signed up for the 20 day course – I am so glad I did! Although she is very well decorated and highly regarded in the industry, I found Imtaz refreshingly down to earth and very practical. The sessions were quite informal and that suited me perfectly. Imtaz's passion for her work shone through and it was obvious from the onset that she wanted me to realise my dreams as much as I wanted to, if not more so. The classes were tailored to my needs and Imtaz did her best to pass on as much as was possible of her 30 years plus experience during our sessions - her snippets of information (best practices and tricks of the trade) were priceless. Her attention to detail is second to none. I am rather curvy and it’s usually a challenge finding clothes that fit and even when I do get my clothes made they’re never quite right. The outfit I made with Imtaz is like a second layer of skin. It fits perfectly and I LOVE IT!! We even got the pattern all lined up!! Yup, I love bold patterns! I recently had the very great pleasure of spending half a day with Imtaz as she taught me how to create a pattern block and transform this into a toile. I have been sewing for a few years now but was becoming increasingly frustrated with the fact that the garments I was making were not fitting me very well. I didn't have the skills or knowledge to understand how to improve the fit of the clothes I was making, however my time with Imtaz has really propelled me to the next level of dressmaking and I came home with a pattern block and draft pattern that I will be able to use time and time again. Not only that, I now know how to start creating my own pattern blocks. Imtaz is a fantastic teacher as well as an incredibly warm person who is genuinely lovely to be around. I learned exactly what I wanted to learn and gain from the course, how to measure the body, draft and cut out a pattern and sew it all together. Then to fit it to my figure so that it was perfect and hung at the right places. Imtaz is a true professional. Her studio is in the basement of her home, where she boasts machines of every type, and awards and memorabilia of her impressive career on the walls. I took a beloved ski parka to her that I didn't want to part with, and needed to have taken out in the hips. This is a complicated job that I would not have taken to just any tailor. Imtaz is an extremely patient and adaptable teacher. I have learnt more in the span of 10 days than I have in an arts school. I am definitely planning on taking more lessons with her. Imtaz knew how to challenge me to help me grow as both a designer and tailor. She allowed me to lead the project and add my own style into the work. She is very knowledgable with the various types of fabric, you’ll definitely need extended lessons with her to get the full knowledge. Her ironing skills are incredible. I found the making of pockets, waistbands, straps with Imtaz very fun, when usually it’d be a hassle. She manages to simplify complex patterns, making it manageable for almost anyone.
