I have no hesitation, whatsoever, in recommending Preseli Animal Homecare. We've used them at least four times now, and have always had friendly, efficient service. You just have to remember to book well in advance to make sure they can accommodate you. Our dogs are very poor travellers and we have long journeys to visit relatives, one of whom has cats. Before finding this company we had some bad experiences with kennels, they are often noisy, disturbing places, often use young inexperienced staff, and we hated the fact that you have no idea how long your dogs are locked up during the day. Our oldest dog is very sensitive and always came back very upset by the experience. We are now big fans of house/pet sitting. Your pets are in their own home, you (and the pets) get introduced to the person who will be looking after them, and your house is also taken care of while you are away. It is far superior to kennels at little extra cost. Julia and Martin are lovely, friendly people, real animal lovers themselves, with a large menagerie of their own. Well worth five stars. I started using this service in 2010 when I moved to the area . I have always had excellent service. They have looked after our animals including elderly dogs and horses with incredible care as well as young puppies and nervous cats . They are extremely caring and conscientious as well as very experienced. I have used animals sitters for over 30 years and these are the best I have ever found and I wouldn't trust my animals to anyone else.I return to happy animals and everything clean and tidy .They send regular updates on how the animals are with photos and videos so I can relax and enjoy my holidays with no worries. They care for our animals around 6 to 8 times each year and I have never had any problems.,My only worry is that they are unable to dates I require . I book the sitter before I book ANY vacation as their availability is paramount. More...

Julia has looked after my two labradors and one (blind) cat many times, she is very caring and competent. We have been using Preseli Animal Homecare for nearly a year to look after our farm. There is a lot to do on the farm day to day with livestock needing to be checked away from the farm as well. All of our animals have been cared for to a very high standard each time we have been away with all of our instructions being followed extremely carefully. I've been using Preseli for around three years to look after my dogs and house when we go on holiday. Our dogs are both rescues with poor welfare histories so the option of putting them in kennels is not something I would subject them too, so the ability to have someone come and look after them in our home is really good for us. Julia always responds to my enquiries very quickly and the sitters are lovely - Alice has been doing our bookings for the past 18 months or so and she's fabulous, the dogs love her and she is happy to keep me updated while we're away. It's barely any more expensive to have someone looking after the dogs and our house than it would be put two dogs it is kennels so for us it's the perfect solution and I would fully recommend Preseli to anyone. I have two rescue dogs, both with separation issues, one, a Bearded Collie/Staffy Cross, the collie part is very highly strung and he was expelled from a local kennels for nipping a kennel maid - anybody got a collie which doesn't nip? Our kids hardly notice we are gone and I can tell by the welcome we get upon our return, that they are happy and contented, which a great release for us as we visit my mother in Sussex who is very ill and we don't need anything else to worry about! I am so gratefull to Preseli Homecare for the highly professional service they provide. The house sitters are a joy and love our babies as much as we do. We are so lucky to have found them. We are thrilled to bits with this companies professionalism towards the care of our animals, from first contact to completion. We haven't had a holiday for a couple of years now due to work commitments, but having Coral stay at our home to look after our mad dogs and scatty cats made our holiday possible. She took away a load of worry about going away by following our instructions to the letter, keeping us in touch every day with pup-dates, administered medicine to our old bulldog and even sent photos of happy sleeping dogs. I have pet pigs and poultry so not your ordinary run of the mill needs. Preseli Animal Homecare took care of all my animals with ease. I have one pig who can be quick sick at times but this didn't phase the sitter at all and they reported back to me with every concern so I could advise accordingly. I've got a couple of guard geese as well that can be a bit awkward to get round because they'll bite given half the chance but they handled them very well indeed. I've got 2 cats - they aren't that friendly so was really worried about leaving them behind in the hands of strangers but as it happens, they loved their sitter and didn't miss me at all! I love them my babies to bits but I normally get that angry 'where have you been' look when I get home from the shops however when I returned from my holiday, I got a contempt 'Oh you're back are you' look. At least now I can go away knowing I wont be greeted by a scratched and horribly scarred sitter. We left our small holding in the capable hands of Preseli and were thrilled with the service and level of care all of the animals on the smallholding received. The pigs, lambs, chickens, horses and dogs all received a five star service. Our lovely farm sitter went beyond what was asked of her and ensured we had regular updates (which we requested) whilst we were away. All of our instructions were carried out to the letter and the house was well cared for and spotlessly clean when we returned. It was very reassuring that if the farm sitter was unsure of anything she would contact us to check (such as would it be okay if she weeded the front garden) - this left us feeling extremely confident and happy with the service. I absolutely adore being around animals. I love caring for them and seeing to their needs. Working with animals is truly the most fulfilling job you can ever have.
What inspired you to start your own business?
When I originally moved to Pembrokeshire in 2007, I met Martin and we were married within 6 months. Together we started to build up our menagerie of dogs, cats, ducks, geese, pigs and chickens. My parents however lived in Northamptonshire so when we made plans to visit them, we had increasing difficulty in finding a sitter for all our animals while we were away. We decided to fill that gap in the market by setting up our own pet sitting business.
Why should our clients choose you?
We have years of experience of looking after animals and this includes all our sitters too. They are all personally interviewed and checked out. They are carefully chosen through their own history of animal care, their animal husbandry qualifications and their personality, My husband is my worst client with what he expects from a sitter and if we feel that they are not suitable to look after our own animals, they don't get employed by us. This is our personal guarantee to you that you are getting a hard working, reliable, experienced and capable sitter for your animals.
Pet Sitting
If you don’t need someone to stay overnight we can make visits to your home as many times a day as required to care for your animals – whatever you’ve got or how many.
We have sitters who can do pet sitting visits in South West Wales, Northamptonshire, Warwickshire and Leicestershire. Visits to your home include caring for any animal you may have, dog walking and puppy sitting. The sitters are also experienced with all aspects of horse care, poultry, farm animals, cats and other domesticated pets.
During that visit, we can also collect the post, turn lights on and off, open and close curtains, water the plants, take the rubbish out, etc.
The cost of a basic visit which is up to 45 minutes is £8. If you require a longer visit, then add on another £3 per 15 minutes. There is also a mileage charge of 40p/mile.

Cats especially do not like to be moved. Your cats get to stay in their familiar surroundings and still receive all the care and attention they need demand.
They will be fed and watered with the litter trays cleaned out and re-filled as necessary – after all, we all know how cats like things kept clean!! But most importantly your cats will get the pampering, fuss and attention they know they deserve.
House Sitting
A homestay is a fantastic option for when you are planning to be away overnight, especially if you have dogs. Your dog or dogs are able to stay in their own home and enjoy their home luxuries without even realising you’ve gone away.
They get fed, watered and walked throughout the day, just the same as in kennels but with us they get to sleep in their own bed, with familiar smells around them and they get a warm body to sleep up next to at night (if they’re allowed on the bed, of course!).
Stress free care
When your dog is taken out of his or her own loving environment, this could potentially cause them a certain amount of stress. Cats can also suffer if removed from their home and placed in a confined area, especially if they are used to the freedom of going in and out during the day. Having a pet sitter in your home eliminates these possibilities.
While staying at your home, our Carers follow out your instructions at all times so you can enjoy your time away without a worry. They will arrive an hour before you leave so you can go over your animal requirements with them and they will stay until you return (or as agreed), ensuring total continuity of care throughout the whole booking.
Your Carer will reserve an hour or two at the end of their assignment just in case you are delayed on your return home. Should your Carer become ill during their stay, we have an emergency back up policy in place to ensure that your animals and home receive continuous cover.

As an added benefit to having your animals looked after, we can provide security coverage of your home – which we can offer you, even if you don’t have any animals!
This presence will not only deter vandals and burglars but also keep your home aired and lived in.
There are two levels of homestay packages available – Gold or Platinum. Please contact us for a quote which will be based on the package you require, not on the amount of animals you have. We also bring our own food and linen so there are no extra charges there.
The Gold Standard @ £45/day means that the carer will not be gone for more than three/four hours at any one time, eg from 9am until 1pm or from 1pm until 5pm.
The Platinum Standard @ £55/day is where the carer ensures that they stay in your home for the full duration of the stay with the exception of quick visits to the local shop to top up basic provisions, eg a 24 hour stay.
Please note that Easter, Christmas and New Year holidays are all chargeable at double time rates.
Dog Walking
As well as home visits and overnight stays, we also provide dog walking services. We will take them on their favourite walks for as long as is needed and we will always comply with your instructions.
Dogs require physical and mental stimulation to keep them in optimum health and happiness. Most behavioural problems such as chewing, digging, and barking are caused by boredom, isolation or insufficient exercise.
Dog walking services prices start from £8 for 45 minutes. If you need your dog walked for longer, just add £3 per extra 15 minutes. There is also a mileage charge of 40p/mile.
Please note that Easter, Christmas and New Year are all chargeable at double time rates.
Doggie Daycare
If you need someone to look after your dog or puppy during the day but don’t need overnight coverage, why not consider the doggy daycare option?
Perhaps you’re on holiday and want to go off for the day. We can come along to your holiday cottage and pet sit for you while you go off and have a bit of fun.
The hours for the doggy daycare service is totally flexible but normally between the hours of 9am and 6pm or 8am until 5pm and costs £45/day plus mileage @ 40p/mile. If the required hours extend into the evening (latest departure 10pm), just add £5.
Please note that Easter, Christmas and New Year are all chargeable at double time rates for all these services.
Puppy Sitting
Have you just got a new puppy? Do you need help toilet training your puppy? Can’t leave the house leaving your new puppy home alone?
If you need someone to puppy sit your new puppy while you go off for the day, we can puppy sit your new arrival until you get back. We offer puppy half day daycare or full day puppy daycare services.
Puppy care prices start at £8 for a 45 minute sit, add £3 per extra 15 minutes, up to 4 hours for £25 or 8 hours for £45. There is also a mileage charge of 40p/mile.
Please note that Christmas, Easter and New Year are chargeable at double rates.
Farms and Small Holdings Sitting
As all our carers are experienced with any type of farm animals – whether they be pigs, goats, chickens, ducks, sheep, horses, geese, peacocks, alpacas, llamas, donkeys, cattle – you can feel assured that your allocated sitter has the relevant experience and knowledge required to take good care of them while you’re away.
We hold full insurance for house sitting at small holdings and farms and no matter how many animals you have, there is no extra charges for looking after all your animals. Costs for pet and house sitting farms and small holdings are the same as normal house sitting rates.
