After doing my CP Course and all the med quals and hostile training i have to say that Horizon is an amazing training provider and would recommend them to anyone that is thinking of getting into CP all the instructors where outstanding and was all 100% skilled in what they do. Just finished the CP FPOS FREC MIRA courses they exceeded my expectations the CP course was really intense it pushed me past my limits helped me to work under imense stress and pressure and really gives you a taste of what to expect in the real world their instructors we amazing passing on their experiences and knowledge in the field to me. The medical courses were something else the instructors we very passionate about the subject and with their wealth of experience passed that to me on the course and I really enjoyed all three courses and learned alot thanks to Horizon and their amazing team. I have just completed the Close Protection course with horizon and what can I say?

The Admin:
Staff are efficient and polite and very professional team

The instructor:
His experience and skill level is exceptional he teaches you everything you need and more, after our live final exercise with a real time VIP we had some amazing comments which in my eyes shows that we was trained to a true reflection of his own skills and ability.

The course:
I kind of went into this course believeing it to be just another course, how wrong was I!!!!
From the offset your constantly bombarded with vital information, you then go into the hostile phase which was hard work but as close as you can get to the real thing, after the hostile you begin the executive phase. Whilst all this is going on you have Physical Training most mornings.

The accommodation:
It's perfect single rooms kitchen areas gym everything you need to live comfortable.

Summary:
If you want to go on a course that you can just hide at the back and get a pass, Dont waste your money, this course will test you both mentally and physically. Your trained by experts within the curcuit they know what is required from teams and they know how to get the best out of you.
I would highly recommend anyone to complete the course. I'm proud to place them on my CV and feel like I have made a great acheivment by completeing the course

If your looking to get a loaded and informative CP course, with relevant instructor knowledge, then Horizon are market leaders.
I've successfully completed CP &FPOS for my employer as I'm already engaged in a RST contract, it's where to come to further or start your security ambitions.
My only negative feedback is perhaps the ongoing renovations whilst using the small kitchen with a large course. That said, if your a busy company your limited to when you can achieve things like this.
It's pertinent, realistic and professionally run.
If you seek employ after the course Horizon is a good place to start with provenance from the SIA itself.

Just finished my close protection and fpos(I) course with Horizon, the instructors were top class and very knowledgeable in every aspect of the cp world. I feel confident and more than ready to now move into the close protection industry in both executive and hostile. The facilities this company has are second to none and the structure of the course is everything you need. All the staff have a great rapore with the students and are willing to help at anytime. After the course they still continue to help with networking, possible further courses and just general advice. The Medical facilities were great, and the medics where great with getting everyone to interact,with lots of hands on which I personally feel is most important. I would highly recommend Horizon to anyone who wants to have a successful and positive start to the Close Protection and medical industry. I recently attended an FPOS I and MIRA course bundle. Not only was the course bundle excellent value for money, but the quality of training provided from Rab McEwan (FPOS I) and Tom Johnston (FPOS I and MIRA) was incredibly in depth and went above and beyond the level of knowledge required in order to ensure all students fully understood the physiology behind treatment methods. This isn’t your average 9am-5pm course with the odd early finish on some days, every day is crammed with theory lessons and in depth hands on practical lessons and assessments. I recently participated in the close protection and FPOS first aid course provided by Horizon ltd and Guardian-srm.

It was a both comprehensive and compressed course with a lot of learning material to cover.

Looking back we covered all the essentials needed to get a basic knowledge of all the disciplines involved in close protection and quite well indeed.

We had different instructors during the course, but the main instructor
was Robert McEwan of Horizon ltd.

Mr. McEwan is a laid back guy with a lot of field experience in close protection, risk management and operations in hostile environments.

His previous time in the Scottish Infantry, the security industry and subsequently instructor was a huge benefit throughout the course.

The course was split into theory, practice and physical training, all well adjusted. We started out simple and went into more advanced training and everyday many new learning points was added to the curve.

Overall an excellent course which provided me with a solid foundation to build upon. More...

Fantastic. Just successfully completed the July 2017 Close Protection Course at Horizon and it totally exceeded all of my expectations. I have been on countless firearms course in my previous life but this is by far the most informative, intensive and rewarding.

If you're after a nice cosy sit down Course where you're guaranteed a pass for your CP ticket then this is NOT the course for you. This course is tough, mentally as well as physically. There are no "beastings" the staff are professionals and treat you as adults.
The instructors and course content were fantastic and it was very intense (your head will hurt). The instructors know their craft in depth and it's a privilege to learn from them. Cliche I know but you will also learn a great deal about yourself.
Our CP course was 16 long days without a break, it is non stop and it was a fantastic experience.
Your course culminates with a 36 hour final exercise (in Glasgow city centre!) and if at the end you are fortunate enough to pass then you will have earned it. There are no give aways.
If you think you have the "Right Stuff" then go for the Horizon Course. You will not be disappointed. More...

An outstanding course with great facilities and scenarios. The course spends minimal time in the classroom and concentrates on real life scenarios and training. The instructors Neil and Chris deliver the lessons diligently and with great passion for the subject. The final exercise in the Glasgow area is outstanding and puts the skills you have learnt over the past two weeks into practice. If you want a tick in the box course DO NOT come to here.... this course is run by highly qualified tutors, who get the best out out of the students available.

I have been out the Army 11 Years and with their guidance the high quality instructors helped me pass. this course... thank you Philip and Neil.

if you want an easy route book else where .. if you want the best book here. do not be afraid to challenge yourself!! if i can do it at 52 years old you can.

Came here 4 weeks a go and I’m leaving today with my qualification and a job. It is by far the best training environment I’ve ever been in. The quality of the instructors from CP/Surveillance and Medical are second to none. The centre not only trains you but actively helps, or employs you. People from all walks of life attend the course and everybody leaves this centre at the same high standard. If you are leaving the Forces it’s definitely the place to conduct your training.
