Dog Training

Myles is great. The dogs love him, and respond to him very well. Nothing is too much trouble, and always has time to help in any way. I try to do some training of an evening. Maybe just 10-15 minutes as I’m disabled. But without knowing what to do it was difficult. And others wanted to charge extortionate rates just to tell me what to do. I needed someone to come to my home and help me, and he does.
Thank you Myles.

Dog Training

Hi, Myles was amazing, he was the only one out of 3 people who emailed me within hours with good advise from the start, an appointment was made for the following week. He came & advised us on different techniques. He followed up with an email with links to products.
We can highly recommend Myles.

After some 35 years plus of having pet dogs, I have never had one quite so difficult to cope with as my little Sadie, you will understand when I say Border Collie with issues. She is very nervous and in her 7th month and I felt the need for some help.

Myles came to see us and I was amazed at the methods he came up with that I wouldn't have thought of and I know they will work. At first she didn't want him in the house and barked like mad, in the space of an hour she was eating out of his hand and comfortable that he was friendly and she was quite sad when he was leaving. Sadie does have emotional problems and we plan to work out a program to help her to ease her tensions and fear of strangers. After only one session I am really looking forward to taking it further.

Q&As

The Dogs! My wife and I have 4 dogs of our own (labradoodles) and they are the best. I decided some time ago to move from my original career of a lecturer in law at the University of Manchester to train to become a dog trainer and it was one of the best things I have ever done. I love meeting new dogs (and people of course) and helping to teach them overcome any issues they may have and enjoy their lives.

Starting my own business has meant that I can focus on something I love. I graduated from the Victoria Stilwell Academy for dog training & behaviour and have continued to learn more and more about the best way to train dogs.

I hope they will find me knowledgable, easygoing, always keen to help and that I can teach the very latest in science backed dog training methods.

Services

1-2-1 sessions can be held in your home and surrounding neighbourhood. This can be an excellent alternative to traditional classes and provides full focus on your dog in an environment without other distractions. It can be particularly beneficial in training methods to help with issues such as ‘barking, ‘door dashing’, lead pulling and jumping up.

We can teach all the skills necessary to help your dog overcome problem behaviours and these can then be practised both at home and when you are out and about.

Getting a new puppy is incredibly exciting but also challenging. We will explain how to puppy proof your home and help them settle in. Ensure you have the key pieces of equipment you will need and tackle the most demanding puppy problems, including house training, chewing and mouthing (aka puppy nipping).

We help you to teach your puppy to greet other dogs and people using good doggy manners. Using positive reinforcement, we help your dog understand that being calm and polite when around others means that they can interact safely. These visits will incorporate the basics of training with the key life skills of recall, attention and loose lead walking.

We provide an excellent range of training walks. Does your dog pull on the lead, jump up at passers-by and friends, or simply never listen? Every dog should be a master of loose leash walking. We teach your dog all those skills and more to ensure they are model doggy citizens with the best manners.

Enrichment walks are also available where your dog is able to explore parks and beaches around Lancashire. These exploratory walks are a brilliant way to ensure they are physically and mentally exercised.

We work with you to teach your dog all the essential behaviours in your own home including attention, sit, stand, down, settle, loose lead walking, drop, leave it, wait and stay.

Our in home training will also tackle all the classic problem behaviours that drive dog owners to frustration. These include chewing and destruction, jumping up, pulling on the lead, house training, door dashing, barking, digging up the garden and separation anxiety.
