Room was large with big windows and nice view of the hills in the distance. ||Pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi were excellent. Very nice surroundings in the pool area too and lots of loungers, sofas etc. ||Staff helpful and polite. ||Breakfast good. ||Giving 4 out of 5 because the restaurant seemed short staffed both of the 2 nights i stayed so we had to wait a while to be seated, and to get a drink and order, and then for food to arrive. There was a Christmas group of about 8 people the second night but they may well have booked in advance. Seemed a bit of an oversight not to have enough staff two nights in a row. Had a 3 night pre-christmas break in Gloucester.|The hotel is nicely situated in a quiet location and only a short drive to the city centre. |The hotel it's self is nice, with a nice restaurant and lounge bar area.|Breakfast in the morning was really very good. What a fantastic time we had at the Gloucester Hallmark hotel.||The rooms were perfect the location was very easy to visit areas, and the staff were lovely. ||I had a full massage with Mariana, and was very pleased. My wife chose the facial, and again was more than happy.||Only one timy thing, on the Sunday breakfast, some of the pastries were a bit slow being refilled, but it was exceptionally busy.||All in a wonderful, great value for money stay. Booked a 1 night stay using the Hallmark Hotels autumn promotion, where for just £90, we got an overnight stay on a Saturday for 2, breakfast, a 3 course dinner, and full use of the leisure facilities. |The hotel is a little tricky to find, but ok with your sat nav. It's nestled in between a housing estate and the ski centre.|Check in was quick and efficient, and we were given information about meal times and the leisure facilities.|Our room was pretty good, a decent size, lots of storage space, nice big flat screen tv, big comfortable bed, and was warm and cosy.|The bathroom was decent too, but in need of updating.|The leisure facilities were very good, the pool was a nice temperature, the jacuzzis were nice and relaxing, as were the sauna and steam room. The only strange thing about the leisure club was there was no direct access to the pool area from the changing rooms.|The gym too was very good, very well equipped with cv machines, weight machines and free weights. There is also a squash court.|Dinner was pretty impressive, with plenty of choices, and generous portions, although my calamari starter was quite oily and not crispy enough. Drinks were expensive, as to be expected at a hotel.|We felt that some of the waiting staff could benefit from some training, they were all very friendly and polite, but we noticed a young male waiter laying a table, and he was holding the cutlery at the wrong end i.e the part you put in your mouth, so not very hygienic! |Breakfast was superb. Although the restaurant was very busy, the staff ensured it all went smoothly. It was self service buffet style, and there was everything you could wish for, and very tasty too!|To summarise, I would say the hotel could benefit from some updating in some areas, as it's looking a little tired, but we would certainly visit again on a similar offer. My friend and I came for a spa break this weekend and throughly enjoyed our stay. It was ideal for us as we live 2 hours either side,so it was central for us. For what was included in the Christmas spa package we could not fault and was great value for money. Relaxing treatments from Izzy and Deepi in the spa and tasty food from the restaurant. The only criticism was that the pool was a little cold and we had a room that had a disabled bathroom and the pressure in the shower wasnt the best but the water was still nice and warm. Stayed here on a special offer for NHS. On arrival, the hotel looks a bit like a motel but inside is very nice. Our room was clean and comfortable with a queen size bed. We slept well although you always get inconsiderate guests who slam doors shut! The pool area is warm and nicely laid out, the pool is warm, the jacuzzi is in the centre of the pool, there is also a steam room and sauna with lounge chairs and settees around. The bar lounge is nice , a couple of chairs could do with updating, playlist was relaxing and a bit festive. We had dinner in the restaurant which also had a good deal for two. Fiancé and I met with my some friends in Gloucester for the weekend to catch up before Christmas. Both couples stayed at the Hallmark Hotel, it was a decent hotel, although a little noisy when people headed back to their rooms after weekend nights of partying! Rooms good, staff lovely.Enjoyed gym, pool steam and Sauna. A great bonus considering the weather. They are rather dated looking but that didnt effect my swim! The only thing that would have made my stay perfect was the dining experience, had to sit in the bar area because it was busy. Was a bit drab and bright lights ( no atmosphere) we both had fish and chips, chips were cold and batter undercooked, fish not too fresh. At £15 each was really disappointed. I stayed at the Hallmark for 1 night on business. When I arrived the car park was pretty full so had to park round the back. The check-in was speedy and the receptionist very friendly. My room was large and very comfortable. The shower was ok and there were toiletries available. ||I didn't have time to use the leisure facilities unfortunately. I did however eat and chose to dine in the bar rather than the restaurant. Unfortunately the team member behind the bar was having a bad day, he couldn't do simple maths even with a calculator and seemed to get all the orders a little mixed up. We went there for our one year anniversary and we took the one night stay with dinner, breakfast, and access to Spa facilities and we were not disappointed! ||||Room - Room was clean and they also put an effort to add some decoration to the room. It comes with a clean bathtub. The double bed was comfy and we had a good night's sleep!||||Dinner - As part of the package, we entitled to 3 courses dinner. I ordered fried calamari and my wife had the soup of the day for a starter. Calamari was ok, though bit oily but the soup was good. For main, both of us ordered the steak (you have to pay extra GBP2.5 for this) and we were satisfied that we ordered the steak. the meat was cook perfectly and the portion was generous. One pointer to remember, if they asked for any sauce i.e garlic sauce or mushroom sauce, those are not free you have to pay GBP2 for each! And we end our evening dinner with brownies and sticky toffee pudding for dessert. overall, I would rate the dinner experience as 5 out 5 and value for money as it is included in the package!||||Breakfast - we were up early for the breakfast and was again not disappointed. They were selections of food that you can choose. Again worth it!||||Spa Facilities - They have a warm water jacuzzi pool that we fully utilized. Apart from that they also have a steam room, sauna room, and a heated swimming pool. Perfect for relaxation.||||Overall, we had a really nice weekend getaway for our first anniversary. We stayed here for one night en route to visiting family and we were not disappointed. Friendly greeting at Reception and as we were early, we were able to leave our car in the car park while we explored. Having a senior bus pass, we followed the instructions to the nearest bus stop. It took us about 10 minutes (longer uphill on the way back!) The buses seemed very frequent and we arrived in the city centre. We used this bus stop to return. We got a great deal on a Friday stay. c£65 for a one night stay. The room was fine, clean, comfortable, shower was dreadful and was only a weak dribble. We love a spa and this was one of the better hotel spa's. Nice pool and jacuzzi. But why charge guests extra for a gown and slippers £6 each......it is annoying and unecessary...please include it in the price if you advertise yourself as a 'spa hotel'!!. Evening meal was good....2 courses for £40. My partner had the steak and throughly enjoyed it and my fish and chips were of a good standard. Couple of niggles....they had run out of mustard and everthing else is nicely presented until a plastic Sarsons vinegar is plonked in front of you. This is my second visit to this hotel, first time with family, this time with friends. Both times the spa/overnight stay deal. And what a fantastic offer this is, includes a 30 minute treatment, evening meal (3 course), use of pool, steam room and sauna, overnight stay and breakfast. ||The staff at this hotel are superb, from the reception, to leisure club, dining, just any you make contact with are so helpful. Its a great experience at this hotel.||The pool did have children there, but it was half term and we also discovered from another guest that the hotel allows local residents to use the pool facilities for free for the children, this is a wonderful input back into the community. Obviously if you dont want children around, just be careful with timings.||The food was delicious. Also one of my friends has to have gluten free foods for a medical condition. She mentioned this in the restaurant, a manager came out and said she was assured to take care of her, discussed the menu, served her personally and absolutely stood over the guarantee that her food was gluten free and she was in safe hands. We had a wonderful experience spending the weekend in Gloucester with so many other ukulele players. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, the food was great and the hotel was always clean. The only negative comment I can make is that the shower (in the bath tub ) had no grab bars to hang on to- and was very narrow to stand in. I did not use it, but my husband did and nearly slipped This could easily be fixed by installing a bar . More...
