This is THE Dojo to train at if you are looking for "real" Karate. The training is traditional and very effective. My sons have really enjoyed learning under Sensei Irvine. Their core strength and flexibility has improved greatly. We are very grateful to call this dojo home. More...

I went to a tae kwon do tournament and I saw the technique was sloppy and all they did in sparring was kick each other. However, here in Todd's dojo we learned actual self defense techniques for real world issues.

I plan to travel in the future and found Hall County Karate when looking for a way to learn self defence. I had never done anything of this sort before and was a bit nervous when starting out. However, the more I went the more comfortable and confident I felt. They have a nice family setting and are very friendly. They do the steps along with you and are there for when you get hung up on a movement. More...

Not only do they teach you traditional karate, but they also teach the culture, the meaning behind the techniques, and how you can apply it to real-life self defense.Compassionate and full of love for their students, they are willing to listen, help, and work around any concerns or problems you may have. I fully recommend checking the dojo out. More...

I love this school! All the training is for self-defense, and is very simple. Some schools looked more like they teach gymnastics than martial arts It keeps me in shape, too.

What do you love most about your job?
My passion is for teaching and keeping the traditional martial arts alive. I've been teaching now for over twenty-five years, and have been teaching in Gainsesville since I moved here a few years ago.
I started training Karate when I was a kid, and have kept going for 30 years. It has kept me fit, given me focus and discipline that helped me get through college, and (of course) taught me self-defense. I have also served in the military for over 11 years, where I taught hand-to-hand combat and learned that Karate is very effective.
What inspired you to start your own business?
When I first moved to Georgia, I wanted to continue my martial arts training, and also have my children start training. As I looked around in Gainesville, Flowery Branch, and the other areas close to me, all of the martial arts schools that I found taught "modernized" martial arts, with a focus on sports. When I couldn't find a dojo that met my needs, I started teaching on my own. My goal was to offer my community access to a true martial art that focused on learning to defend oneself if the need ever arose.
Why should our clients choose you?
Clients who choose Hall County Karate (and who keep training over time) want to learn a martial art for defense. They don't want to learn techniques that would look good on a movie screen, but instead want to learn what will keep them alive if they ever need it. It is true that student will learn discipline, focus, and Karate can help you with fitness and weight loss goals. But, the purpose of our class is to learn self defense.
