I offer one to one counselling services for people who are finding life difficult at the moment. I am non-judgemental and I fully believe that you are the expert and it is my job to help you find the answers within you. Not simply judge and offer advice as this does not have lasting effects.

After years of battling mental illness I decided to help others on their quest to better mental health.

I have now attained my Professional Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy after 3 years of studying.

Brief history of myself;

- diagnosed with depression in 2010
- had a number of psychotic episodes and was given a diagnosis of psychosis
- in 2012 I was given a formal diagnosis of bi polar although had gone undiagnosed for a number of years
- 3 psychiatric hospital admissions totalling 7 months including 1 month on the intensive care unit
- held under section 2 & 3 of the Mental Health Act
- undergone numerous therapy sessions
- still take a number of medications to keep my condition under control
- 2 failed suicide attempts

Since then;

- have enjoyed good mental health for 6 years
- 4 years Samaritans experience
- previously a trustee and committee member at Rotherham Samaritans
- completed the Foundations of Counselling course in 2016
- 18 months support work in a mental health unit run by Priory
- 2 years work at Sheffield Mind as an Enhanced Support Worker (ongoing)
- 160 counselling hours achieved (ongoing)
- campaigned for better mental health in Sheffield Star, Rotherham Advertiser, Radio Sheffield, Capital FM, Heart Yorkshire, Rotherham FM and Trax FM
- spoken at various NHS conferences across Yorkshire
- spoken at Samaritans regional conference
- published my first book 'King of The World'
- unofficially been helping people for a number of years

I firmly believe that people can and do come back from mental illness or personal set backs.

Medication is a fantastic tool in aiding someone but alone it will not solve the problem. Good mental health is like a pie and medication forms a major part of this however another major contributing slice is talking to somebody about how they truly feel.

Finding someone who can facilitate this can be very difficult. From the support I have given and feedback I have received I do feel I have the personal qualities to provide a platform for someone to speak their mind in an honest way and in an environment where they will not be judged no matter what they say.

I strongly believe the answers to the hardest of questions come from within oneself.

I offer 1-1 sessions in person or via telephone if you prefer.

There is no obligation, feel free to get in touch and test the water.

All work is fully insured and I am a member of the BACP and follow their ethical framework.
