Still my favorite place in the neighborhood for quality and consistency you can rely on! It's so great to have authentic Cajun and creole cuisine without having to drive to Atlanta and wait over an hr, and the prices are unbeatable for the quality. My hands down favs remain the crab stuffed catfish, Â coconut shrimp, crab and corn chowder, and the shrimp and grits (although I've had most of the menu and you can't go wrong). And don't forget the bread pudding! So yum! I also love when they do special features (like the surf and turf on Valentine's Day - amazing!) and the specials that keep me from being such a creature of habit. This food is okay.... just ok for me. Being the restaurant didn't give me my GHE because they claim you cannot order this dish during lunch. I've actually watched a friend order this multiple times with no problems for lunch! But the difference I hate to say is.... she's white and I'm Black! And not to say the least I have watched her have her slide to order this meal while we were at work with no issue during lunch! UNBELIEVABLE! Unless they have favorite patrons who get what they want and the rest of us don't... I didn't get the memo. I wanted to try this dish because it's made with some blue cheese butter and some sort of meat with some sautéed veggies. Sounds awesome! But I was denied my chance...Anywho I did mediocrely enjoy the fried green tomatoes and the and the chicken and sausage gumbo one time before this botched attempt to order. I have no problem ordering from this place... when my white co worker orders for me that is! We even joked about her ordering the food for me the next time. But it won't be a next time. I don't want to provide support to any establishment that displays favoritism! I cannot confirm itas racism but favoritism is facts! Discrimination! OMFG! Amazing food, waitress (Maci) , atmosphere! We ordered the blackened salmon for $25 ! It was the most amazing fish we have ever had! Our appetizer was the calamari and it was artfully presented, tasting oh so good. I ordered the cab ribeye steak and my companion ordered the shrimp and grits. Both were very good. Steak was cooked as ordered. My only complaint would be that the sauces on the ribeye and potatoes were abundant, and at times it was difficult to taste anything else. For desert I ordered the crème brûlèe and it was spot on, just lovely. Our server was attentive and polite. The one thing that bothered us was that neither of us ate more than half of our entre, as portions were generous, and I was keen to try the desert. When we requested to go boxes our food was removed from the table and brought in the back. Our server then returned a little later with tiny containers of food that was no where near what she left with. We both thought the practice is a bad one on its face, because how do you know whose food you are getting back. This feeling was intensified when we received less than we had leftover and paid for. I would definitely recommend Gabe's for it's creativity and flavor profiles, but would advise that you ask your empty leftover containers be brought to the table to be filled. More...

Our work group came here on a week night after not wanting to wait over an hour at Gumbeaux's on the next street over. Â We were all hungry and didn't want to get back into the car to find another Cajun restaurant. Â We were happy that we chose Gabe's. As a matter of fact, we should've chosen this first. Â The service was great and the food was good.When we walked in, we were seated within 5 minutes. Â We all found items on the menu right away. Â I wanted something a bit different and asked our waitress if the kitchen could accommodate me and another coworker. Â She returned and said that it was a go. Â We were both excited to know that the kitchen could accommodate our request. Â We ordered something similar to etouffee sauce with catfish over rice. Â I had no complaints. Â It was really good. Â I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. The restaurant atmosphere was inviting as well. Â It was a refreshing change from what Gumbeaux's offers.
