I've never used a personal trainer before, as I was nervous about doing so. From the first moment I met David, he put me at ease and listened to my hopes & fears. I’d highly recommend David as a PT. I used him for 6 sessions to kick start me at the gym. The sessions were informative and fun with David providing lots of useful feedback and advice. I have been lucky to have David of Fitness Renaissance as my Personal Trainer for the past few years. I began with no knowledge or experience of fitness training and David patiently motivated and coached me. His positive outlook and continued commitment to make sessions varied and fun have given me the confidence to develop my fitness far beyond what I expected. His wide-ranging experience allows him to tailor a mix of strength, balance, conditioning, coordination and movement into my sessions - giving an all round benefit to health and wellness that’s specific to me. I worked with David for 3 months, and it was by far the most enjoyable and effective fitness course I have undertaken. Most importantly, he changed the way I think about fitness activity, meaning that I have found it easy to stay motivated, and have been working out just as frequently and effectively since our sessions ended. David listened to the things I enjoyed doing in everyday life and designed fitness activities around them. Wanted to gain some strength and better understanding of powerlifting and how to properly stretch muscles before a workout. I spent about a year with David to supplement my water polo training and improve my strength both in and out of the pool. The sessions were challenging but fun and he always made sure they were varied so I never got bored of them . I saw massive improvements throughout the training and they helped me to take my performance in water polo to the next level. I would say David played a big part in my selection for the national team and British champs qualification. Although I no longer work with David, the lifting techniques and approach to gym work he taught me still very much resonates in my training. Would highly recommend him to a complete novice, an experienced gym-goer or someone like myself who is looking to develop some functional strength to aid their sport performance. More...

Last year I started participating in David’s mixed group Park/Play sessions. Before then, I had never done any specific movement training.

I attended with no expectation, and I was immediately hooked; each two hour session is dynamic and well thought out. It involves movement games and functional training requiring some weekend mindfulness delivered in a positive and friendly environment outdoors.
It really is a cool way to spend a Sunday morning if you’re wanting a fresh, innovative approach to get moving.

Time flies when you’re having fun - and your muscles will remind you of that fun for many days to come! Thanks David

I worked with David for six months and during that time I improved every element of my workout posture and technique. David listens attentively to your aims and goals and tailors his strategy perfectly to help deliver these for you. Working with David was insightful, challenging and hugely rewarding and he has taught me so much in such a short space of time. David devised excellent weekly workout plans and answered any questions I had with great detail! Working with David is superb. He tailors his strategy and methods to your specific needs, is encouraging and sets goals whilst always recognising that we are all only human.

We have worked hard on strength training technique, whilst also paying attention to many other forms of complimentary exercise.

I’ve trained with David from Fitness Renaissance for over three years. I started out with some general PT sessions in which David introduced me to a wide variety of different fitness and strength and conditioning training techniques. By exploring what inspired me in these initial sessions David helped me discover a passion for Olympic Weightlifting. He’s since coached me from complete novice to lifting in competitions. The journey has been transformative both physically and mentally - I’m stronger, fitter, more focused, more confident and more resilient. As well as learning the art of the lifts I’ve also built knowledge about my body, the power of the right nutrition (working with Silvia from Fitness Renaissance) and how to manage my training sessions.

What makes David special as a trainer is his genuine passion to find what makes you tick. He’s continually challenging himself to build his own knowledge and skills as a coach and he brings these new ideas and energy to each session. He’s also 100% professional - organised, reliable and a jolly nice chap to be around - even when he’s making you squat horribly heavy weights!
