Dog Behaviour, Training and Agility in Pembrokeshire.
I have a life-long passion for dogs, dog behaviour and dog training. As well as being a qualified Canine Psychologist and dog trainer, I am also an experienced instructor and trainer of people. I help make dogs’ lives better, and their owners’ lives better too, by improving the communication and bond between dog and owner.

Dogs have an amazing ability to learn, understand and communicate with us. All dog behaviour makes perfect sense, to the dog. However some behaviours that our canine friends exhibit are baffling, frustrating and a nuisance to owners. I help owners to ‘think like a dog’. By getting into their minds and understanding their world, owners are in a much better position to understand their dog’s weird and wonderful ways, and are able to improve not just their dogs life, but their own as well.

My basic principle is that dogs don’t set out to be ‘bad’ and neither do owners! Having a pet dog is, and is meant to be, a joyous experience! By far the majority of dogs want to please and do the ‘right’ thing given the chance. For a dog to be disobedient they must first understand what is being asked of them. There are not many disobedient dogs, but there are many that don’t know what their owners want. My role is helping owners to help their dogs.

Even though I believe there are wrong ways to train, teach and treat dogs; I believe there is no one ‘right’ way. Whilst there are some fundamentals to canine behaviour and psychology, every dog and owner are different and thus need different things. My methods and training style is flexible and tailored to the dog and owner. I always aim to make it easy and, where possible, fun for both the dog and owner to learn together.

Examples of What I Do:
• Improve the bond between dog and owner.
• Teach owners how to understand and ‘speak dog’.
• Help the owner to see the world from their dog’s point of view. What is their dog’s perspective? What is their dog’s outcome? What does the dog want in any given situation?
• Teach owners how their behaviour and thinking affects their dogs. Helping owners to be able to manage themselves, their behaviours and emotions, to get the best out of their dog.
• Give owners general dog advice and help; for those who are baffled, confused or just wanting to do the best for their dog.
• Rectify problem behaviours – whether it is the dog or the owner who has the ‘problem’.
• Rectify obedience and training issues that now are, or are becoming, a behavioural problem.
• Help people to find the right dog for them and their circumstances. Puppy or adult? Rescue or from breeder? What breed and where from?
