Duncan made sure our wedding photos were stunning - and exactly what we wanted! - which is particularly amazing considering we didn't really give Duncan any direction beforehand or on the day! Somehow Duncan managed to listen to our vague, hesitant requests early on and turn them into beautiful, relaxed, happy photos that completely captured the atmosphere of the day. All our guests were included somewhere, as were all the little details that we had spent ages perfecting (that may have gone unnoticed by others). From the first moment we met Duncan we both knew he was the right person to be our wedding photographer. His relaxed demeanour put us both instantly at ease, but his attention to detail shone through. He was truly interested in finding out what we wanted our day to be like and what we were looking for from our photos. On the day itself he exceeded expectations. He blended seamlessly into our event, subtly capturing really special moments which we didn't even know he had been present for. However, he was also able to calmly and quietly ensure that group and couples photos took place without great fuss or intrusion upon the rest of the event. As a couple who are not that comfortable in front of cameras (with similar families) he helped us all to relax and got some amazing photos. After the day we had sneak previews coming through within days and the final photos were of a great quality and in time to use for thank you cards. His documentary style photography was exactly what we were looking for to fit with our laid-back, rustic barn wedding, and we clicked with him straightaway. They say never work with animals or children. What do you love most about your job?
I discovered photography about 5 years ago and quickly found it to be the creative outlet I had always sought. I originally came from an IT / software development background and one of the things that attracted me to photography was the blend of technical and creative elements. I still love learning about new cameras and other accessories and discovering the wonders of Photoshop.
My style is very documentary based - taking natural shots of the day as they happen. I tend not to favour the more formal, staged photographs, but I know that they are still needed, so am always happy to take a few shots for friends and family to treasure. Although I mainly work in digital format, I also shoot film (both 35mm and Medium Format) as it has a certain ethereal quality, which I love. And I still get that slightly excited feeling when the scans come back from the lab and I get to see the images for the first time. For me, the not-so-instant aspect of film enhances the shooting process and the end result.
There is not better job than when you get to share in a couples most special day and deliver a set of memories that last long after the day has ended. It's a privilege to be a small part in such a joyous occasion as a wedding and to do a job I truly love.

Why should our clients choose you?
Having been through the wedding process from the other side of the lens, I am all too aware of how important it is to choose the right photographer whose work you love and whose style speaks to you. The photographs last long after the wedding day is over, and hopefully they will invoke amazing memories when viewed many years later. My goal is to capture all the memorable moments from your wedding and tell the story of the day. My style is more documentary, capturing the moments as they happen, with the people dearest to you, sometimes without your realising.
