Absolutely appalling service. Took over 6 months from approval to getting an enforcement officer on site, who then failed to do his job properly. Absolutely no communication throughout the process, constantly had to chase these clueless "professionals" to get anything done, and even then couldn't get the job done properly. I am the CEO of an engineering and repair company based in London with offices in 6 countries, and I was recommended to use DCBL, also known as Direct Collection Bailiffs Ltd, for debt collection.
The DCBL sales representatives offered many promises and reassurances, all of which turned out to be fallacies that they would recover our money. The amount in question was £150,000.
To recover the money, as per the Direct Collection Bailiffs Ltd terms and conditions, DCBL demanded that we pay them 10% of the intended recovery amount. This we paid, and they promised that they would persist in their recovery efforts for up to 120 days, which equates to about four months. The sales pitch of Direct Collection Bailiffs Ltd was highly convincing; they flaunted their media coverage on Netflix and ITV. In hindsight, their marketing, coupled with the sales pitch, website information, and phone calls, were part of a well-crafted scheme to con me out of £15,000.
DCBL assured me that they would employ ethical techniques, including recording all their visits to the debtor’s door, filming the data, reporting back, and providing me with weekly updates. Additionally, Direct Collection Bailiffs Ltd verbally promised certain unethical practices, including making intimidating phone calls to the debtor and showing up at the debtor’s door at unreasonable times. All of these lofty promises turned out to be empty, just like their reassurances.
Regrettably, the DCBL team couldn’t deliver on any of their promises. In fact, these nincompoops couldn’t even locate the debtor. In their sales pitch, Direct Collection Bailiffs Ltd claimed to have a world-class intelligence system and strong ties with credit reference agencies. But their inability to locate the debtor showcased their failure, proving that their promises were nothing but empty talk. I urge everyone to refrain from trusting these nincompoops at DCBL.
All that Direct Collection Bailiffs Ltd managed to do was send emails to the debtor. Despite being armed with all the necessary evidence to support our claim, they could not even reply to a single legal letter from the debtor’s barrister. DCBL, the company we trusted, failed us.
Direct Collection Bailiffs Ltd promised that if needed, they would use their sister company, DCB Legal, to respond to the legal letters from the debtor and to proceed with the matter in court. However, this was another of their false promises. I caution everyone considering the services of DCBL or DCB Legal to be wary.
Reading through the DCBL terms and conditions was an enlightening experience. It helped me see through their BS and false promises. Clauses three and four stated that the debt collection period should not exceed 120 days, after which DCBL may continue to pursue the debt without additional charges. However, it is unclear what happens if DCBL fails to collect the debt within this timeframe.
In our case, Direct Collection Bailiffs Ltd supposedly chased the debtor for four months before they gave up. Even during the supposed active pursuit, DCBL failed to provide the promised weekly updates. It’s clear that their claims of continued pursuit and the use of automated systems to locate the debtor were baseless.
According to clause six of the Direct Collection Bailiffs Ltd terms and conditions, the client is required to pay a non-refundable administration fee. This fee, which is generally 10% of the total debt, means that if DCBL fails to collect the debt, you, the client, don’t get your money back. In our case, we lost £15,000 to DCBL.
Clause 11 of the DCBL terms and conditions states that the company doesn’t guarantee debt recovery. I strongly advise that you keep this in mind before you pay DCBL any fees.
My advice to everyone is to avoid DCBL, Direct Collection Bailiffs Ltd. This company, DCBL, is only good for sending letters to naive and innocent people. If you’re dealing with a debtor who is smart and has good legal counsel, DCBL, or Direct Collection Bailiffs Ltd, has little to no chance of success. They fail to respond to strong legal letters, and their promises fall flat.
Ultimately, this review should serve as a stark warning about the operations of Direct Collection Bailiffs Ltd and DCB Legal. My advice to businesses and individuals alike is to steer clear of DCBL. Research and consider more reliable and effective alternatives for your debt recovery needs. By doing so, you can potentially avoid the hassles and financial losses that come with dealing with Direct Collection Bailiffs Ltd.

Absolutely awful service, we have written 3 complaints with no reply, a manager was supposed to call us back but never happens, asked to speak to the MD but wont take calls.
We gave them a debt to collect, the agent went twice both times after 9am, guess what the debtor was at work, unless you call them constantly you have no idea what is happening. If this were my business I would be absolutely ashamed of myself. What you see on TV is a fabrication of what this company does, they are unprofessional, toothless, and unashamedly poorly run. They add insult to injury, and live of a TV programme that is clearly fake.

Completely unprofessional from the start till the end!
DCBL was very keen to take on my business without asking me to provide any outstanding invoices/statements for our debtors.
Persuaded me to pay £3,300 upfront fee. They didn't send agents to visit the debtors until about a month after they were instructed. However, they visited one particular debtor 6 times but all of which were outside their trading hours. The first 3 visits took place on their only day off in the week! They still insisted that they did some research beforehand. They couldn't explain to me what sort of research they did though. I had to make a formal complaint before they finally made an attempt to visit the debtor during their trading hours.
Their complaints department is another joke. The first person who responded to my formal complaint didn't follow their own complaint handling procedures whatsoever. Instead of carry out an independent review, she just brushed everything under the carpet and tried to pass me back to the original case handler. I had to make further complaints and requested a manager to review the case. Their complaints manager responded and promised to give me a full response. That never happened despite making a couple of promises. In the end, I had to make a chargeback claim from my credit card company to get my company back. I never heard back from that company since. It is obvious that this company have employed a lot of cowboys and no one has any professionalism within the company whatsoever.
They always try to sell you their service as seen on the TV show. However, I suspect they are only acting as a contractor for High court enforcement to carry our the court orders. The enforcement agents certainly don't wear the DCBL badges on TV. I wonder how many of them were actually their own cases from start to finish if any at all.

I can't thank DCBL enough for helping me. After going through the courts for 6 months and getting no where I decided to contact DCBL who were friendly and professional and helped me understand exactly what would be happening and talked me through the whole process. I run an entertainment company, and after providing entertainment to one client's Wedding (which they loved) they suddenly disappeared on me after I was tricked into believing they had paid and then disappeared (but not before telling me they wouldn't be paying me). They then moved house and changed both mobile numbers so that I could no longer get in contact. Less than a month later all has been resolved and I am just so relieved that everything has been sorted. It's such a shame that we couldn't sort this amicably and i've had to go to these extremes, but I am so happy it has now finally been sorted. Thank you so much! More...

John Buckley and the team of collection agents are fantastic. A year ago I paid dcbl to trace an ex who had disappeared after I won a ccj against him, took them a while to find him because he was using an alias. .. but find him they did... and within 3 weeks of them finding him they have him on a controlled goods agreement and an agreed payment plan.... oh how I wish I could of seen my ex’s face but I am just so glad that dcbl are getting my money back.... and if he defaults... well he better watch out as I don’t think dcbl will take that lightly... thank you again to John and team as I can finally put that part of my life behind me More...

All I can say Direct Collection Baliffs Limited are proffesional,friendly people. who take the pressure and stress out of getting what is owed back to you. All it took was a phone call to give them the details,they did the rest. unfortunatley in my case just sending a letter out to these people did not work, so they had to go round and speak to them. which ended up with a good result and they are paying us back in full. Thank you to the whole team who all worked together and made this happen. if it weren't for all you guys we would not be getting our money back. my motto is if you can't afford it dont have it till you can. Having never had to use this kind of service before I was extremely nervous and apprehensive, but EVERYONE at DCBL was incredibly helpful and patient. The whole process was very simple, the forms were easy to fill out and when phoning up with questions everyone I spoke to was clear and explained everything really well, in terms I could understand. Even though I consider myself an intelligent person, when dealing with terms you haven't come across it is always reassuring to have them explained clearly! You dealt with the whole process for us, from obtaining the High Court Writ to most importantly taking the full balance owed to us. Used DCBL to collect a debt that was outstanding for over a year. I didnt hold out much hope of ever recieving this money but DCBL were successful in recovering the debt.
Their staff were excellent throughout the process. Everything was explained to me and they kept me fully up to speed from start to finish. Very highly recommend and would not hesitate to use DCBL again if i find myself in a similar situation.

Excellent company which I would highly recommend. I was owed money by an individual from back in 2015 and, despite me taking the matter to Court and winning my case the debtor failed to make monthly repayments as ordered by the Court. My Solicitor sent the debtor several letters chasing payment but this had little effect so I escalated the matter to DCBL / High Court. Within a month the money was recovered by DCBL. An absolutely phenomenal team of people here, helped me solve an incredibly situation with a second hand car dealer. Something that had gone on for almost 5 months after buying a car.
The team kept me informed at each stage of the process, and allowed me to rest assured that the case was going to be closed one way or another. On the date of visitation, the agent secured the amount I had received judgement for within an hour of his visit.
I cannot commend these guys enough. Do not waste time with MCO or other services, these guys get the results.

I don't very often leave reviews for companies; unless they've been really bad or really good! DCBL I am pleased to say, have been excellent. We are a very small company and we supplied someone (who I would really love to name and shame) with Point of Sale display units. Unknown to us they had already been paid by their client and spent it. To cut a long story short he didn't get back in touch with us again and ignored our calls, letters and even the Crown Court. After receiving the CCJ against him we were at a loss to know what further steps to take. The debt was for over £5000 and I knew we could escalate to the High Court, but I didn't know how. I was aware of this company as I had watched their TV programme. On searching the internet I came across their website, I was a little dubious at first, but gave them a call. The lady I spoke to was very helpful and told me that they would fill in the High Court form, which I was unsure of. The only cost would be the £66.00 court fee. I decided to employ their services and I'm so pleased I did, as three weeks later an officer from DCBL rang me to say that we had been paid after one of their visits! Two weeks after this we received our money in full. If you are unsure about using DCBL, please give them a try. The most you are going to lose is the compliance fee. This was definitely worth it for us, I just wish I'd seen his face when they turned up on his doorstep. I'm sure he thought I'd just give up after waiting six months. Be tenacious ! More...

After 6 years of chasing an unpaid debtor with absolutely no success, it was a quite large sum of money and I had practically given up all hope of ever seeing any of that money returned to me. My cousin suggested I try these guys and I have to admit desperate watching the program on TV I was still quite skeptical that I would get a good outcome, boy was I wrong it really was the best thing I could've done. Within a few months all my money was paid back to me. They kept me posted on the developments on every stage and sought my permission when needed.
