We lost our dog suddenly at 7pm on Saturday evening, absolutely heartbroken we took him home and called this business to arrange a cremation. A woman answered the phone and understandably upset I said I would like to arrange a cremation, the reply I got …. “ we are closed” followed by the biggest sigh that was clearly irritation . I put the phone down there and then . Sorry that animals pass at clearly inconvenient times for this cremation service but is that not to be expected? I found another pet cremation and he was absolutely wonderful. Cremation booked for the next morning but could have gone that evening. I will never recommend Companions Haven to anyone including my vets which I know happily recommend services to other owners looking for a reassuring end to their pets life. I’m still shocked beyond words and actually glad that she was rude as I would never have wanted my precious boy to end up there More...

I have had all my dogs privately cremated so knew what to expect, but had never used Companions Haven before.
My Daughter and I parked outside the gates 10 mins early and waited until our appointment time. At about 5 to 11 a woman walked down from the lane carrying a box and what I thought was paperwork.
While at the gate, before we had even entered, she handed the bundle to my daughter and said " there's an outstanding amount of 8.00 to pay". I still didn't realise this was actually my dogs ashes as I expected to go in, sit down, look at Urns, and be told what else there was, hair clipping etc in the bundle. But nothing, not a word.
No " sorry for your loss" or any sign that this was an upsetting thing for me to be doing. Just a transaction, like an Amazon delivery, which made a sad time worse.
We then went into the " garden room" to pay, as that's where the card machine was.
Still no small talk or even a smile.
My daughter pointed to an urn and said it was a nice one and the right size, but the woman made no response at all. Didn't ask if we wanted to look at Urns or keepsakes, she just wanted to go.

She moved towards the door and went to leave. I was confused because I was expecting her to give me my dogs ashes, I didn't know what was going on.
I then realised that the pile of box and paperwork WAS my dogs ashes, that she had thrust at my daughter outside before even opening the gate, while telling us money needs to be paid.
We were in our of there in 2 minutes flat, or however long it takes to do a contactless payment.
No condolences, no sympathy, no tact, cold and uncaring. We might has well have been picking up a click and collect item.
No looking at Urns, no explanation what was in the envelopes given, just pay and go.
The whole experience was so uncaring and made me feel like my dog was just insignificant, and so was I.
It's made me even more upset than I was. I don't even trust that I have my own dogs individual ashes now. They didn't even have his breed right on the ashes box, but had his name right so I can only hope I have my dog!
I will never use them again. Last time I used Charlie's Parlour and the experience was like night and day, it was unrushed and compassionate and I purchased other stuff while there.
This woman couldn't get us out fast enough and shows zero compassion to people grieving their pet, it was just a cold business transaction. She's in the wrong business and has made a traumatic situation even worse.

Spoke to Claire this morning regarding Billie my cat who popped of to kitty heaven yesterday. Arranged for her cremation through my vets yesterday who I am very pleased to discover are using Companions Haven as standard now but just wanted to speak to Claire regarding some special requests which were no problem. Have been using them directly for 20yrs now (8 cats) and have always been grateful for their compassion and gentle approach to such a sensitive issue. Making a decision to end a pets life when their quality of life is deteriorating beyond quantity of life is a difficult time but I am always consoled by the knowledge that they will be going here and dealt with in such a respectful and helpful manner. My remaining 6 will be going here when their time comes (hopefully not too soon!) More...

I can not thank these people enough for their help, support and care of us and our dog Amber. Amber had been a part of our lives for nearly 14 years and was a very large part of the family. We had to make a difficult decision to say goodbye. I called them to make the appointment for them to take care of her after she had left us. We arrived and taken to a lovely garden room where the process was explained to us and our wishes written down. They even offered us a paw print which was amazing as I couldn't get one at home as her pads were covered in fur. We were then left to spend as much time as we needed with Amber before we left. I was and still am heartbroken. We went back two days later to collect her ashes, paw prints and a snippet of fur, all wrapped with love and care. They had even put a small amount of ashes into a scatter box for us to take with us on our regular holiday so we can scatter her there. We today collected her memory box which has been beautifully engraved, they placed her ashes inside and we can now add our own memories. There is no hard sell when you are distressed and you don't have to make any instant decisions. Thank you again for making our last hours a little more bearable. More...

Have used on several occasions. Had spoke to them on the phone and described my dog to them. Didnt even say my dogs name and I was overwhelmed with them when they told me her name and that they would look after her. Defiantly go to these again .

Even though it was one of the saddest times, I couldn’t be happier with the service and the wonderful personal service we received. I would highly recommend Companions Haven. Through the saddness, it gave me great comfort that Mobi had a fitting send off and a speedy return home in the most beautiful casket. Purrrrrfect? More...

As my dog had got older I had always planned how I wanted it handled, and this included using Companions Haven Pet Crematorium. Their website is fantastic and clear, and thank you to all of you who had posted reviews as this just confirmed my opinion. When the time came, we called them on late Wednesday afternoon. They collected my dog from the vet on Thursday morning and, as described on their website, this was at no charge as it was local. I then collected him Friday afternoon. The oak casket I had chosen was beautifully wrapped in green crepe paper with a lovely name label on the head of it. The wrapping was sealed with a beautiful gold sticker. It also had a sympathy card with it. These small touches really took me by surprise, and I have no doubt they demonstrated the same level of care and attention to my boy.My dog provided over 13 years of love and I couldn't think of a more fitting way of demonstrating how much he meant to our family, and Companions Haven allowed me to show that love one hundred fold at a time when no words can really come close.Without doubt I can say that the level of service that we received, and dignity shown, from Companions Haven is exactly as other reviewers have described. Our much-loved cat was killed 2 weeks before Christmas leaving us heartbroken. We were so fortunate to have found Companions Haven, who did everything we could have hoped for and more. Initially we'd planned to scatter the ashes but then changed our mind and wanted a casket to put in the garden..none of this was any trouble for them and everything was handled with the utmost sensitivity and care. Our cat's ashes came home in a carefully wrapped box with a little sympathy card. We completely recommend Companion's Haven to any bereaved pet owner and, although I hope we won't need their services again, we wouldn't think of going anywhere else if the need ever arose. More...

It was a few days after my cat was put to sleep that my head cleared enough to realise I wanted her ashes returned to me after initially saying I didn't. I was very lucky, it wasn't too late, and the receptionists I dealt with at MacQueens vets were very good and pulled out the stops to help me. Companions Haven found Bootsie and, when I picked up her ashes, they had included not only a hand-written card but some clippings of her fur which I hadn't had the presence of mind to take or ask for on the day she was PTS. Yes, it was a service I had paid for, but I hadn't expected Companions Haven to go the extra mile and I was enormously moved and grateful to receive such a thoughtful service after such a hard personal loss. Thank you. More...
