About
THANKS FOR VISITING MY PROFILE. I AM SORRY BUT I AM NOT ABLE TO WORK WITH ANY NEW CLIENTS AT THE MOMENT - I WILL TAKE THIS MESSAGE DOWN WHEN I HAVE AVAILABILITY AGAIN.
About me:
I am a fully qualified person centered therapist. I have also trained in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT).
In addition to my private practice, I work as a therapist for two other counselling services.
I work with people who have come to therapy for a variety of reasons, including anxiety, stress, depression, anger, low self esteem, sex and relationship issues, bereavement, childhood sexual abuse, domestic and sexual violence, feelings of isolation, feeling stuck, work related issues.
I welcome hearing about what has led you to consider therapy. Understandably, you will want to choose a therapist who will be able to meet your needs. I hope that the following will be helpful in reaching your decision.
The way I work and the therapies I offer:
I understand that there are times in our lives when we are confronted with situations that we are not sure how to deal with or that we feel unable to deal with. I will give you the space to talk in a safe environment without being judged and help you understand the thoughts and feelings you are experiencing. Together we can look at your difficulties in different ways so that you are able to find solutions that are right for you.
As we work together, you can begin to develop your own stronger sense of self and start to make the right choices and changes for you to live a more fulfilling, authentic life. Therapy can provide you with the tools that could help you through difficult times.
Person Centered Therapy:
Person centered therapy can be empowering because it places you at the heart of the process. What you want from sessions will be what we work with together. As a person centered therapist, my focus is on seeing things from your perspective and exploring your individual experience. What is specifically challenging for you and why? How have your own life experiences really impacted on you? What resources do you already have as an individual?
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy:
CBT focuses on how your thoughts, beliefs and attitudes affect your feelings and in particular, your behaviour. You may find your behaviour in reaction to certain situations is disruptive in your life. We can look at what it is about these specific situations that makes you feel and react a certain way and then develop strategies you can use to help you cope differently.
