The trainers at pet smart kept us outside and wouldn't even consider my Woofy but within 10 minutes Gina the trainer had him laying at her feet eating out of her hands.

I have used Clearwater Dog Training for the past 15 years. They are a wealth of knowledge when it comes to training.  They have private and group classes.  I am so happy to take my dogs here!  They also have a rescue that they run and I did adopt a dog form them. He is simply amazing because of their wonderful training.  I highly recommend them. More...

I have to say I was a bit skeptical about Clearwater at first after reading some reviews.  However, when they offered a Groupon for 8 private 30-minute session for $200 (saved us $150), we had to jump on it. We just completed our fourth session at Clearwater and are very happy with our choice.  We adopted a dog from Dumb Friends several months ago.  He is a great dog, but has severe separation anxiety and to make it worse, can escape just about any kennel. He is very shy towards strangers and has destroyed numerous things around the apartment, so we finally had to do something and obedience training kept coming up.  Tom facilitated our first two sessions (each went over the half hour);  he heard our concerns with the dog/situation before recommending anything.  Right off the bat, Tom told us it would not be easy and would most likely be an ongoing battle.  I appreciated the no bull approach and have to say he pumped me up a little too.  He reminded us that we were nice enough to give Kenny a home, so it was time for Kenny to start giving back.  He gave us numerous suggestions/exercises to do with Kenny to help relieve his anxiety; some have been more helpful than others, but melatonin has been a savior! The third and fourth session have been led by Gina and have both exceeded the half hour we paid for.  Gina genuinely seems like she wants to help create a better dog/situation, but she is tough!  She had to call us out a little bit in the third session about homework.  She explained that it would not work and really would just be a waste of time for us to let him do whatever and then bring him to her to fix.  Ultimately, we are the ones needing Kenny to be independent, so we would only benefit if we are committed to spending time training him.  After that we did try to dedicate time each day to homework with Kenny and it truly has strengthened our bond with him. Gina really broke through with Kenny in the fourth session by trying a hide-n-seek game, pushing his buttons and then acu-prssure to calm him down.  His stressful reaction to her got less and less and by the end he was sitting there loving it as she loved on him.  She noticed during the hide-n-seek game his reaction to us leaving and suggested giving him less attention plus an exercise to help him be more independent.  This is something I am mostly guilty of, not my boyfriend, so this will be my biggest challenge in the upcoming week.  It makes sense though and I need Kenny to be independent, so I can leave without worrying what is going on at home....Kenny has since graduated from obedience school and is doing great! He always be better and we are considering taking him back for group classes periodically, but our main issue was the tearing up the apartment.  In the first few months we had Kenny he destroyed, two rugs, a lamp, a vase, some dishes, blinds, a pillow and I could probably go on...towards the end of his 8 week program, we stopped kenneling him because he was still escaping and the dog going before us had chipped a lot of her teeth that way.  This made me nervous, but I certainly didn't want him chipping teeth.Once we started leaving him out of the kennel when gone, it went great! We have even eliminated the melatonin from the equation and he is completely fine being alone; no more destruction! It's crazy! I don't know if the kennel made him feel to confined or something, but I know we owe most of his progress to Tom and Gina.   I think he finally came to really trust us and the obedience training helped that bond occur. Very helpful and knowledgeable folks. Have spent the last couple of months working with them to retrain my 'rescue' Rottweilers with very good success. They have shown themselves to be excellent with animals and very good business people. Their free group training sessions have been a difference maker in my dogs behavior around other animals and also have done wonders to desensitize/calm their predatory instincts. The cat couldn't agree more! More...

Very helpful and knowledgeable folks. I have been working with Clearwater Dog Training for a couple of months now to re-train the behavior of my two, extra large, 'rescue' Rottweilers and the improvement has been remarkable. I knew that I had my work cut out for me when I adopted big dogs but I am an experienced dog handler and was thinking that it would work out OK. I soon found that I needed help with their aggressive tendencies and poor house manners. At Clearwater I found a very dog friendly environment and people who know their stuff. Gina and Tom have been a tremendous resource for me and my dogs. Using the techniques and training methods that they have shown me I believe that we've turned the corner on a number of behaviors that had me questioning whether I'd be able to keep both dogs. Thanks guys, I don't think that I could have done it without you. More...

GREAT DOG TRAINING!! We had a new puppy that was out of control. We found Clearwater Dog Training and started working with Gina to train the puppy in basic obedience and reign in his barking and aggressiveness. Gina is a life saver and a dog guru. She showed us not only how to train him for his basic commands, she worked with us to curb his dog aggressiveness to the point where he's dog friendly now. We were so impressed with the progress in training the puppy we asked Gina to help us with our six year old German Shepherd Dog since she liked to ignore us. We also made great strides with her and both dogs obey all their commands better than I could have hoped for ... the first time. Gina truly loves the dogs she works with and has given me many insights into dog psychology and they way they think and behave. I'm a better dog owner for having worked with Gina and Tom. More...

We have two Schnauzer/Poodle mixes, littermates, that have been a challenge for us. Even though we have been trying to socialize them since they were puppies, they did not do well around other dogs. Gina worked not only with our basic training, sit, come, stay, etc., she worked quite a bit on their socialization. She has dogs and cats she uses to work with her clients and it helped us so much! Her animals didn't react to ours so we were able to socialize and desensitize them in a safe environment. We have noticed a HUGE difference now when we are out and about meeting other dogs. Not only did her private lessons help, but she offers unlimited group after the private lessons are complete. With Gina and Tom's help, we can now come to group without our two dogs barking and they actually tolerate other dogs getting in their space. Gina was our second trainer and we wish we would have found her first!! More...

Gina saved our home and made our family complete

Found Gina and her school when we had adopted a young border-collie mix from a shelter that was too wild for us to handle. I had hoped she could find a home for Freyja as they are associated with Nikenos Rescue. Instead she helped us learn how to bond with Freyja, establish trust - and walked us through each step learning how to live with each other, including with our cat! It was an amazing transformation (for all of us) and now Freyja is as much loved as a child and we'd never give her up. Pretty miraculous seeing where we started. I highly recommend this down to earth and caring school and its staff. More...
