Incredible everything but a little pricey

Had a friend that recently lost a pet and the staff at city vet was sympathetic and very professional yet comforting throughout the entire process.

I have been using CityVet Oak Lawn since 2002. Dr. Effie treated and diagnosed our dog Gypsy with cancer. She was so compassionate and kind. We lost Gypsy and went without a pet for quite a while. When the time was right we got out cat Monster. CityVet was the only choice as far as I was concerned. We now have 4 cats and one dog. We have moved to Garland but still insist on using CityVet Oak Lawn. Just when excellent service couldn't get better, they hired Jason. His love for my dog was amazing. He treats the animals like they are his friends, and he see's the unique qualities of them. Just not the service one is used to in the big city. More...

They always treat my dog well. She loves the staff. Dr. Sheldon is a phenomenal veterinarian. Very knowledgeable. I feel my dog is in good hands with them.

CityVet Oak Lawn is awesome. Everyone there is super friendly and attentive. My dog doesn’t always like strangers and he’s always totally at ease with them there. Love Dr. Neese! She is very kind and has a great tech Amanda helping her out. I felt very secure and safe leaving my four legged family member in their care! I am absolutely in love with this veterinarian and the whole staff! Was greeted by smiles, even from those not helping me. The atmosphere was light, great energy. Most of all, the prices were so awesome. I was quoted a price of $150, by an undisclosed vet hospital that saw exotic pets- to trim my guinea pig's nails. City vet only charged me $16 and some change and we were in and out!Very few places do see small animals and therefore have the ability to rob clients who need services. More...

I cannot say enough about the staff at City Vet Oak Lawn. Dr. Neese took care of our dog Sam when we moved to Dallas. She was always caring and helpful in her treatment of our old pal. The people here are always nice and I feel pretty well taken care of. Sometimes there is some weird confusion on prescriptions and sometimes there are communication issues especially if your dog needs a lot of things but overall enjoy it. I’ve both my puppies here on separate occasions, and they both loved them. Didn’t try to upsell me on stuff I didn’t need, were friendly, thorough, knowledgeable and professional throughout our time there. Most of all you can tell the actually love animals, they don’t just do it for a paycheck. I have a pitbull that’s extremely anxious after a bad experience with a vet, and they made him feel right at home. Front desk ladies have been sweet both times, too. More...

After City Vet became a huge corporation they became more like stores instead of a place to take care of your animal you can never get anything done without having to do a bunch of add-ons that were costly it make caring for elderly animals very stressful. however in the last 2 years they have certainly turned things around they are definitely all about the care of your animals and well they treat them like they're your kids which for most of us they are and I've noticed that they work with people now when it comes to money issues and they don't shove unnecessary things on to the bill and they certainly are very empathetic when it comes to the last moments.I have lost all four of my fur kids and all but one said their goodbyes and made their way to the rainbow bridge through a City Vet location and I cannot tell you how compassionate these people have been when it came to say goodbye to all four of our kids.We lost demon dog who is 19 May 31st of this year and as always we were at City Vet and it's always both the text and the doctors or either near tears are in tears and they were so loving I will never forget it and I cannot recommend them highly enough especially for the care of senior animals and for when it comes to letting them go to the rainbow bridge. This place is wonderful!! All of the staff (receptionists, techs, nurses, and veterinarians) are always very friendly and helpful. The medical care provided to my kitty is also always excellent. There are closer places to where I live but City Vet Oaklawn is the best I've seen for dogs. Dr. Tunnel is great, Lucy, my border collie, loves her. The waiting area is spacious and there are complimentary beverages while you wait, places for Lucy, an outside area and still very clean inside and well staffed. A few things I wanted to point out for the high rating.1) I came in early morning without an appointment. I was ready to wait hours to see a vet because I had a kitten that was abandoned and I wanted to know everything was ok. I barely sat down in the waiting area when Dr Tunnell came over to greet me. I was amazed she was able to see me so quickly.2) Their prices are extremely competitive... with online stores., nevermind other retailers. I am always wary of upsales but when I went home and compared prices for food and medication, I was pleasantly surprised. TBH some online stores didnt even beat their prices... (I bought the plan though, which covers all the necessary vet visits and gives a discount on purchases. Even without the discount, their prices are still on par with the most affordable online stores.) 3) They have locations everywhere and great hours. As mentioned, I had a situation where I felt like time was of the essence, I called everywhere in the city, from the SPCA to other vets and they were the only ones that were helpful.4) The customer service was above and beyond. Courteous and always attentive. They also have someone who opens the door for you when you enter and when you leave. This was a great touch - seriously the cherry on top.As someone who looks for the best value, this is it. I research the hell out of everything I do and I couldn't be happier with CityVet Oak Lawn. Just found CityVet in Frisco. Can't say enough wonderful things about them!! From the great staff at the front desk to the knowledgeable husband-wife Vet team.
