Lera and Christopher are the most charming kind couple who have been working from Otherwise for over 10 years. They are a rare and wonderful discovery on my part, barely visible on the Bellenden Road for the lack of a shop front. Walk inside and you find yourself effectively in their workshop. I took a bundle of clothes; an oversized coat, culottes, skirts and trousers and Lera took my measurements and Christopher who has worked in the fashion industry transformed these pieces into master pieces for a very reasonable price in 2 weeks. It is a wonderful experience to meet them and the conversation was heaven, I cannot recommend Otherwise enough for clothes alterations and a slice of good old fashioned attention. More...

Not many cool old places like this left any more! I had a bought a beautiful jump suit that was cream at the top and pale pink in the leg- prefect for a wedding.
Alas, it was a tad too short for me even with the hem taken down. The very talented tailor (ex fashion designer) found a perfect piece of material that matched the cream top part, and added a trim to the bottom of the trousers. It looked so professional and they were so nice, they saw me at 7.30pm on a Thursday evening, and waited for me after work to collect it the same time the next day. I would definitely recommend this place, and even better it’s run by nice people whose charming eccentric ness will no doubt also raise a smile.
They also texted me when it was ready, and was nearly half the price of the place in the west end I tried! Very happy and would definitely use again.

I took in a bridesmaid dress to have the length shortened. Lera and Christopher were both very sweet and let me know the dress would be ready in plenty of time for the wedding and gave me a very reasonable estimate on price. I had a shirt made for me and it cost me £80, (including trying on a rough cut to finesse it before finishing) which seemed so much of a bargain for such excellent workmanship, I've taken in two more fabrics to have made up into shirts and recommend them to friends.
I find it wholly unreasonable to leave such a petty review,, which fails to mention the most obvious of questions any prospective customer would want answered; namely how good was the finished garment?
Given the amount of work involved, providing an upfront costing before the work had been done would seem such a ludicrous thing to focus upon!

When I decided to set up my first website, I had no idea where to begin. I didn’t know anything except that I wanted to be able to publish new entries to my blog spontaneously and on my own.
Otherwise team listened to my vision of the site, guided me through the creation process at my own pace and patiently answered all my questions. Even after the site was up and running , Raluca was always available to answer my questions or teach me something new to make my work easier or make the site more professional and efficient.
They gave me the skills and confidence to gradually take on more and more of the day-to-day activities for my site and I know that when I am ready to add more features to my site, they will be there to help me every step of the way.

I would thoroughly recommend Otherwise for making dresses. They designed and made a dress that I needed for a party I was attending I needed it at short notice too.
The finished product was way past my expectations and I really felt like the belle of the ball. I found the price to be reasonable and I have recommended Otherwise Design to many friends.

As a web designer I have the power to do big things. I can connect people, friends, families, I can make ’em happy, give them something to do before they fall asleep, I can make things that only God could. Internet is the greatest way to share ideas for millions of people, making them smarter (if they are already smart) and giving them the opportunity to understand and respect other nations. Rich web applications make all this easier and leave the programmer (designer) with an invaluable feeling of satisfaction.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I had been employed for few years till one day I realized that the only thing I was doing was actually building others' dreams. I had a steady fixed income each month, that's great when you start a career, but I'm a dreamer and a visionary myself and I always knew I was destined for something great. I halted for a second to understand how the world works and it was time for reversing the equation. In the Real World you either be an entrepreneur, or you work for one
