I have loved Christy's photography even before she took pictures of my family. But the pictures she took of my family are some of the best pictures that have been taken of them. She even got my unsmiling, introverted son to smile. More...

I am so glad we had Christy take our family pictures. The first time ever I have loved our pictures and proudly display them in our home. She captured each of our kids personality. I love that it was a casual and fun experience as well. More...

Christy has an artists eye and is able to capture shots that you will cherish for years to come. She took family photos for us and I was impressed with how many great shots she was able to capture in a relatively short amount of time, which is importabtv with small children! Would definitely recommend and use again! More...

Q&As

If I knew the secret to taking a great photograph every time, I'd be on the cover of National Geographic! My secret, however, is two-fold. (1) Understanding the mechanics of your camera. I don't think I've ever taken a picture in "Auto" mode. Being able to properly expose, adjust for speed, etc. ensures you get good pictures in camera and don't have to spend hours on the editing end. (2) Truly care about what you're doing. Don't always go for the posed smiles while everyone says "cheese!". Make someone laugh. Catch that moment when they're looking at their husband/wife/fiance/child with that love that goes beyond words. Those are the pictures you look at over and over again.

Each client is different. For corporate clients, I like to have clear expectations. How many pictures do you want? How will these pictures be used? For personal clients, I like to get to know them. Some details are important ... how many people will be in the shoot? But in general, I like to get a sense of the people I am photographing. So far, I've never had to ask a couple/family if they prefer light & airy or dark & moody. I get to know them. I laugh with them and learn what makes their family unique. So that when it comes time to edit, I instinctively know what they're looking for.

The people. I love getting to know people. I love weddings for that excitement of starting a new journey. I love family sessions for the fun and warmth you see when children and parents interact. I love newborns because they are perfectly innocent and beautiful. I love architecture because I'm drawn to lines and form. I love details in every shoot. Fingers, toes, flowers, crown moulding ....

I sometimes feel like I didn't have a choice. Like many photographers, this started as a hobby. I'd always felt like I saw the world a little differently and once I had a camera in my hands, I couldn't put it down. Within a matter of months, I started getting hired to take pictures just by word of mouth. Within 6 months, I was taking pictures of strangers. After my first wedding, the business bloomed beyond what I had imagined. It's only taken off more since then and I couldn't be happier.

I hope clients choose me because they like my work and they get a sense of who I am from these questions. I hope I'm chosen because I can promise my best effort on every session. I truly care about my clients. Whether it's people, nature, or buildings ... I care about the end result. I don't put my name on something I can't be proud of. But I truly believe the relationship between a client and photographer can be one that lasts for a long time, so clients should choose someone they connect with. I'm just hoping that's me. :)
